HP Pavilion dv7 1132nr ethernet jack

I need to get the ethernet jack replaced. Is it soldered to the motherboard or is it connect by a cable or plugin setup?
I tripped over the cable and as it pulled out it left pins in there that I cannot remove. The cable does not work with another computer and I tried a different cable and I cannot connect.

According to the service manual it is not offered as a cable, or any other individual part, so it must be soldered to the motherboard. See the "Illustrated Parts Catalog" section.

  • Pavilion dv7 1132nr - amber wifi - Non-working touch strip

    Hello,
I am trying to fix my parent's laptop that had a HD go down. We bought a new HD and installed a valid copy of Windows Vista and everything is fine except that the touch strip does not work and the wifi button is stuck in amber/disabled.
The only device manager item I cannot find a driver for is the wifi and it shows as "Ethernet Controller" in the device manager.
I've tried every single update possible from hp.com and I still cannot get the thing to work.
I tried to install the atheros and broadcom driver w/o any luck. Updated the BIOS as well. HP Wireless assistant shows the adapter as DISABLED.
I have googled and browsed most of the related topic I could find on this page. Any advice would be greatly appreicated.

HP Quick Launch should get the touch strip working:

  • HP Pavilion dv7-1132nr Wireless connection and sound, light turns amber; loosing the application

I was using windows Vista, so I decided to upgrade to windows 7 hoping that it would correct my problem. That was not the case.  Apparently I’m loosing the wireless application every time I power down my computer; then I download the wireless driver again through a hard wire.  Also the sound has not worked at all; button is in constant amber.  I’ve tried many times downloading the drivers for both applications. I lose it when I re-start my computer. "Very frustrating"
     Please help  !

    Hi,
Download the latest installer for HP QuickLaunch Buttons on the link below and save this to your Desktop.
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp46001-46500/sp46168.exe
From the Start Menu, open the Control Panel and then open Programs and Features.  Find the entry for HP QuickLaunch Buttons and uninstall this.  When complete, shut the notebook down, remove the AC Adapter, remove the battery and then hold down the Power button for a good 30 seconds.  Replace the battery, plug in the AC Adapter and start the notebook.  When windows has loaded, right click the installer you placed on your Desktop and select 'Run as Administrator'.  When the installation has completed, reboot the notebook.

  • HP Pavilion dv7 notebook, Windows 7: How do I disable an audio jack?

My Pavilion dv7 notebook includes two audio jacks for headphones on its right side (my left when facing it.) Long story short, a hefty piece of an iPod headphone has dislodged and been stuck inside one of these two jacks; there's no way I'd be able to remove it without taking apart the notebook. I can still receive audio via headphones when I plug headphones into the other jack, but I can no longer receive audio from the internal speakers.
I'd like to diasble both headphone jacks manually when I'd like to hear the speakers --  but I can't figure out how. When I access my 'Speakers and Headphones Properties' (IDT High Definition Audio Codec, through Sounds --> Playback Devices) and attempt to disable the device, all sound is disabled. There appears to be no way to selectively disable either just the speakers or just the headphones.
    Any ideas?

...I'm still curious as to whether I can receive any assistance regarding this issue.

  • Power jack damaged, drained battery for PAVILION DV7-1135NR

I've had countless problems with my HP PAVILION DV7 1135NR, but I've managed to fix most problems, but of course another one appeared.
I usually have to "jimmy" my power adapter around to get a charge, but in this case, I was too rough and completely ruined the power jack (where you plug power adapter into) , my battery never charges and stays at 0% therefore there's no way to power on the laptop without a power source. Will this be an easy fix that a "girl" can do by herself? What parts do I need to get my laptop powered on?

You need the power connector cable which is part of the "cable kit":
    480474-001
    Here is the Service Manual:
    Manual
Page 34 has a picture of it. Page 85 shows how to get the top cover off. The power connector cable can then be removed and replaced. It plugs into the motherboard. It is not a real easy fix but not as hard as a motherboard replacement. The part is dirt cheap.

  • Pavilion Dv7 4165dx Hard drive failure and performance issues?

I have a pavilion dv7 4165dx notebook that was working great until a couple of months  when the performance of my machine started to decrease rapidly. I have performance issues with the machine because it takes 1 to 2 minutes to get from the welcome screen to the actual desktop and another 3 to 4 minutes for it to be ready to use. I already upgrade the memory from 4gb to 8gb but instead of going faster it goes slower and i also did a clean install of windows but it didn't help. Before i have problems it took maybe 30 to 50 seconds to go from the welcome screen to the actual desktop and 1 minute and 30 seconds to be ready to use and by the way i use soluto to tell me when the machine is ready for use. Then last week i notice that the headphone jack wasn't working properly so i contact hp and they told me to send them the laptop so i did, they replace the motherboard and they  send it back to me and i just got it today it got a little better but it still lags on the welcome screen and to open programs. I check the memory using memtest 86 and the memory it's fine, but i check the hard drive with HDD Regenerator 2011 and it show i have one delayed sector. Then i check on hd tune pro and it show me some WARNING on section Calibration retry count( as you can see on the picture below)  so my question is should i be worry and send it back to hp or what can i do to fix the problem i am having with this notebook?

I have the same laptop and have had issues with it since the day i brought it home. I have had it for a year now and am now replacing the hard drive for the 3rd time. My guess would be its your hard drive because most of the issues you seem to be having ar the same ones ive been dealing with for a while. I can say I'm very mad about the quality of this laptop and am in the process of  battling with HP over this issue. If you have a chance go online and look at all the hard drive issues that this laptop has had and even look at the HP forums for this issue it will irritate you and make you wonder why this hasn't been fixed yet!

  • Quicklaunge buttons on my HP Pavilion dv7-2260ed not working and always red

The quicklaungebuttons (Mute, Volume, cd options and wireless) on my HP Pavilion dv7-2260ed stopped working and are always red.  This happend 3 weeks ago. I runned the HP assistent but no errors were found. Any help is welcome

Hi, I have more or less exactly the same problem.
I own a pavilion dv7 1090eb, which originally had Vista 32bit on it, but I updated to Windows 7 32bit more than a year ago,
not long after 7 was released. Ever since that update (or a few days after, I don't really remember) I've been having problems with the quick launch buttons.
For over a year it was just my mute button that was always orange. I could still mute my sound, but when not muted, it sounded like it was really filtered, all the low and the high were gone, only low mid sounds remained.
My jack exits, both of them, however, still work fine, and I have good audio through external speakers, so I kind of solved that.
But still, the laptop itself has great sound, so I should be able to get that without having to carry around external speakers wherever I go.
Oh and I used to have the same problem with Vista from time to time, but after rebooting it would just go back to normal.
But now just today, I left my laptop on for about 2 hours for some image rendering while I was away, and I switched the wifi off, which I usually do when I leave my laptop unattended. But when I came back, it wouldn't turn back on again, and none of the quick launch buttons worked anymore.
I tried reinstalling all drivers after I did some troubleshooting options which didn't work.
Turned it off and on again a couple of times.
Then found this thread and installed the above link, rebooted, still doesn't work.
What now? What can I do to resolve this problem?
I really hope I can get a solution for this.

  • HP Pavilion dv7-1130us IDT HD sound card problem: recording levels too high

I have been trying to get the IDT HD sound card in my HP Pavilion dv7-1130us laptop to allow me to switch from "microphone" to "Line In" input signal. I cannot find an option anywhere in the laptop do this. There is not a separate Line-In jack on the laptop. The mike jack is it.
The reason I'm trying to change the input setting is that I am using Audacity/Lame (the Win 7-compatible Beta version) to convert old cassettes to MP3. My laptop came with Vista but I upgraded to Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) earlier this year.
The problem is that recording levels are way too high using the mike input and so the recording comes out harsh and distorted. I have tried all possible recording level adjustments on the tape deck (no option), IDT sound card control panel, Windows device manager, etc.
From what I am reading on the online Audacity forums, using a mike input will cause the recording levels to be too high, and the setting has to be changed to "Line In" and not "microphone." Is there not a way to do that with this laptop and sound card?
The HP Support Assistant tells me that the driver for my sound card is up-to-date.
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions. I've been trying to find a solution on my own for a couple days with no luck.

    Hi Amanda,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp52501-53000/sp52658.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

  • Sound issues with a Pavilion dv7 laptop, please help!

    Hi everyone!
I have the Pavilion dv7 laptop and LOVE IT!  It's a great machine and has amazing features, especially some quality sound, when it works.  I'm looking for some help with this problem.  I can fire it up and have sound.  And then the sound will cut our and when I go down to the volume and open up the sound properties, my speakers are missing and it says it's using an HP dock, which I don't even have.  Sometimes, it will say that it's using headphones.  But the option for my speakers does not show up.
I can reboot and sometimes that will help and it will fire back up with sound, sometimes not.  I'm looking for suggestions on what to do to keep my sound from going out.
    Thanks in advance!
    -Sean :-)

Likely the AC power jack has gone bad and needs to be replaced. Not sure why or how it can work if you remove ACPI support but the jack does have a pin that carries data to the motherboard and I suspect yours is bad. This is the part and what it looks like. It is a middle-difficulty replacement, at worst.

I guess the first thing I need is the USB drivers and then the correct ethernet LAN driver. Can you hook me up with those two please and then I'll go from there. Heres a snapshot of device manager if that helps. thanks, DD

  • Is it possible to upgrade/add a graphics card to a Pavilion dv7-7000 laptop?

I've been doing a lot of research lately, to mostly no avail, about whether or not my HP Pavilion dv7-7025dx laptop can have a dedicated GPU added to it, as currently it only has the integrated Intel HD 4000 Mobile graphics card.
Mostly I've come across the unfortunate agreement that most laptops cannot have their graphics cards upgraded/swapped out, since the graphics card is soldered on to the motherboard. However, after talking to an HP "support representative", they said they believed it was possible to add a graphics card, as long as it is compatible with the HM77 45W UMA Motherboard my computer has.
Furthermore, after finding the maitenence and service manual online for my computer ( http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03221579.pdf ) it says that it could have come with switchable graphics, specifically the Nvidia Geforce 630M or 650M.
So I am wondering, is it really at all possible to add a dedicated graphics card, either by having switchable graphics or something else? Or am I stuck with the integrated Intel HD graphics?
If I can upgrade/add a new card, where would I be able to find/buy a compatible one, and would I be able to install it myself or would I need to go to a local computer repair?
My laptop is the HP Pavilion dv7-7025dx Entertainment Notebook.
It has an Intel Core i7- 3610QM CPU @ 2.30 GHz, 8GB memory, 750GB hard drive (5400 rpm).

    Hi,
You can't add a dedicated graphics card to the system like this. The vga is soldered to the board so no way you can just plug it in like on a desktop. However, you can buy a new motherboard with the dedicated graphics card on it. It also requires a new heat sink.
    Manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03221579.pdf
You need a 682040-001 board plus 682061-001 heat sink to have a dedicated graphics card on your laptop. Have a look on ebay for the part numbers.

    Hi,
This model allows to use 2 HDD's. Max capacity is 500 GB.
To install second drive you will need Hard Drive Caddy and Cable Connector. You may buy them here.
Here is service documentation for your model. On page 46 you may check where you may install secondary hard drive.
