  • Misuse of clause in extended warranty of laptop by service centre to harass and cheat customer

Please read it completely as this is from a Frustrated, Harassed, Cheated customerThis is with reference to case ID: 4756281406-471. The laptop against this case ID is under extended warranty. This laptop was given for repair to MI road Jaipur service centre of HP on 20th July 2015.My complaint is regarding the way your authorised service centre treats customer, as In spite of everyday following them up, till Saturday i.e. 25th July 2015 they kept on saying that mail regarding motherboard change has been sent & acceptance from authorities is still awaited. After chasing thru the call centre, very conveniently unilaterally they put the blame on customer that extended warranty is voided as they found liquid spillage on mother board.  Because for the laptop under extended warranty your service station does not tell or show to customer that laptop has been mishandled by customer when they are accepting the laptop for repair. Subsequently after keeping the laptop at their service station they conveniently later blame customer for mishandling under the clause that, the standard warranty does not extend to any HP Hardware Product that has been damaged or rendered defective as a result of accident, misuse, liquid spills, abuse, contamination, or other external causes.Poor honest customer like me who has not mishandled the laptop feels cheated. The service centre did not show/tell me any kind of mishandling when they received the laptop from me and then after keeping the laptop in service station they unilaterally decide that customer has mishandled. For laptop under extended warranty when the service centre know that such clause exists why they are not making the provision of showing at the time of accepting the laptop from customer, that the fault is due to mishandling of laptop by customer.I also forwarded this information to [email protected] but did not receive any reply from them. Is this the way HP treats its customer that they do not have courtesy to reply customer mail.I will be using a few harsh words against your after sales service setup. I will request you to pardon me for that. May be you are not aware of these activities being done at your service centre. As an honest and aware customer I would like to bring certain aspects to your notice.I have never mishandled this laptop. Your service centre is telling a lie. In case any mishandling has been done it is at your service station. Please take action to stop this kind of fraudulent activities at your service centre. This kind of harassment to customer will make customer run away from hp Laptops. For laptop under extended warranty please make provision at service centres of showing at the time of accepting the laptop from customer, that the fault is due to mishandling of laptop by customer. Otherwise stop such extended warranty schemes. I purchased your laptop only due to extended warranty scheme. If this scheme was not their then I would not have purchased hp laptop.I know HP is a big company; they do not bother about small customer. But still I would like to hope you will take out some time to look into this case specifically. My laptop is still at the service station in Jaipur and I hope you will do the needful to repair my laptop free of cost as it is in extended warranty. I did not mishandle laptop and your service centre did not show/tell me of my mishandling at the time of receiving laptop. From Frustrated, Harassed, cheated customer

  • Finding a Service Centre near where I live

I can no longer burn a DVD and the on-line rep suggested that I take my laptop in to check its optical device. My Pavilion has had some pretty tough travelling especially in Mongolia so its possible that something is amiss. I live in Dalian, China. How do I locate the closest HP service centre?

  • Hard Drive Failure on HP DV 6000 Pavilion laptop Windows-XPsp3 OS - Need Data Recovery Help

Hard Drive Failure on HP DV 6000 Pavilion laptop - Need Data Recovery Help
HP Pavilion DV 6108 NR, RG365UA, purchased in late 2006 at Best Buy, with Windows XP, upgraded to Service Pack 3. It has a Fujitsu hard disk, 60 gigabyte, partitioned into C: and a Recovery D:.
Windows tries to boot up, but goes to blue screen with the message: "Unmountable Boot Volume" for one second, then just keeps recycling until I force a shutdown.
BIOS Phoenix, hard drive test result: " #1-08 Fail "
I ran a disk analysis/recovery program on the Cdrive and it seemed to show the directory structure intact, and it was able to recover some files. I was using the free one from Seagate (which only recovers small files). The second pass didn't run so well, and during the third run the program said I should not proceed further, and I should contact a professional disk recovery company.
However, the D drive seems to be intact, so, I wonder if the disk is corrupted or just some aspect of the logical C drive is bad.
How can I get the D: to run the recovery software on it? The recovery disks, made by Best Buy, only proceed to the R / F / Q option screen, and when I press R, I get a blue screen every time.
Tapping the F10 key during startup gets me nowhere. Ditto the F11 key.
I dont care about the hard disk; it is the data (files, docs, images, etc)  that I want.
I contacted HP to order recovery disks but they are no longer available for my computer.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Update...
I found a website that offers the following:
    http://www.computersurgeons.com/p-13442-recovery-kit-435422-001-for-hp-model-number-dv6108nr.aspx
Recovery Kit 435422-001 For HP Model Number dv6108nr
    Price: $27.00
Recovery Kit Set (An Entire Image of the Computer hard drive when the computer was new)
But I wonder how useful it would be. Early XP , no doubt. And if my hard disk problem is a mechanical fault, would any recovery disk even work? The disks made by Best Buy when I bought mine new in 2006 don't do anything more than go to the R /F/ Q screen and then goes to a blue screen when I press R (to recover the OS and apps and data files). And, as I wrote, it is the data that I want, not the disk drive.

    Hi @goshenguy
Thank you for your inquiry, I am happy to help.
I grasp you tested the hard drive from the bios and it failed.  This tests the physical aspcects of the hard drive and when it fails it does require replacement.  You were able to retrieve some of your files using recovery software but not all.
Your recovery partition is still intact and when you try to do a recovery with the disks from Best Buy you do not get past these options R / F / Q  but will not proceed.
Here is a link to Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows XP, 2006 or Later) that may assist you in performing a recovery.
Here is a link to the Maintenance and Service Guide HP Pavilion dv6000 Notebook PC. Please note chapter 3 page 42 for a replacement hard drive part number.
    HP Parts, HP Replacement Parts
If you are still unable to do the recovery, you could try contacting Best Buy for assistance with the recovery kit they provide.
I don't know if it is possible, but you may want to check cloning software to see if you could clone the D partion to the new drive or connect both drives and  try a drive to drive copy of the D partition.
If you were able to successfully put the D partition on a new hard drive you should be able to do a recovery from the  D partition  to take it back to factory.
If none of the above has allowed you to successfully do a recovery, I suggest contacting Best Buy to see it they have  options other then purchasing  a  third party recovery kit.
    Good Luck!

  • A Complaint to the Customer Relationship Unit and the Think Service Centre

    Dear Sir/Madam,
I'm a customer of the X60 notebook product. Yesterday (Jan 20) and today (Jan 21) I've been visiting twice the Think Service Centre in Quarry Bay in the hope of repairing a defective part on the casing.
The result has been that I was told that "the engineers" has talked with Ms Maggie xxxxx of the Customer Relationship Unit and they finally turned down my request, giving me the reason that the damage is due to ''improper use'' of the product. I was unsatisfied about the incomplete explanation and further chase Ms Maggie xxxxx, on a phone conversation, to answer why they are so sure i've been ''improperly using'' my laptop, but I was answered that I "might have exerted too much force to open the cover". I asked her to confirm whether she meant that "opening the laptop cover" is an "improper use" but she refused to answer me.
Thus, seeing that she refused all my requests for an explanation, I asked to talk to her supervisor to solve my issue, but she refused once again, insisting that it is the company's "internal policy" not to allow any customers to talk to the supervisors! I thus have no idea but can only assume she being the only person (or maybe together with the Think Service Centre, the support section, because Ms xxxxx claimed that such decision has been made by both parties in the telephone conversation) would take the whole responsibility for the Lenovo Corporation's opinion that my laptop is damaged due to "improper use" (but still without any explanation given at all).
I'm yet to see any proper answer from the Lenovo Corporation to the following:
    1. Can you give me a proper explanation why the defect happening on my laptop cannot benefit from the warranty service?
    2. Can I assume the decision that Maggie xxxxx's making is the same opinion that Lenovo is making as well?
    3. Is it really the company's "internal policy" not to allow any customers to talk to the supervisors? If so, I doubt whether the company is trying her best to protect the rights of the customers should they need help while some staffs just cannot help.
    Thanks.
    Best Regards,
    Kenny Yu.

Just wanted to let you guys know that I still haven't received my MP3 player... Creative has had the MP3 player for 73 days now and they still haven't sent it back. Since last time I wrote here I got an e-mail from Creative saying they got the MP3 player on the 5th of the November and that somehow the status wasn't updated. Well, it's been 73 days now, care to send it away? I sent them and e-mail yesterday where I wrote that they could just send me the cash for it or a new MP3 player.
If I don't receive my MP3 player in a near future I will contact "Allm?nna Reklamations N?mnden" (a Swedish "Consumerist"-like government sponsored organization that deals with people vs company legal cases).
Again, I strongly advise everyone to not buy any more Creative products. Once they break you won't get the help you need.

  • Slow Canadian Service Centre - T400 Screen replacement

My new  T400 has a white dot on the screen (not a dead pixel, an actual screen defect. I have the LED backlit display btw.) I called and arrange to have my laptop sent over to the Canadian service depot in Newmarket Ontario and was told that it would take about 7 days to get my laptop back once it arrived at the service centre. My laptop arrived at the service depot on October 22nd and when It hadn't arrived back at my office by the 29th I was concerned; I need my laptop to work properly, my spare just isn't fast enough. I called and inquired about the delay, only to find out that the part they need is on backorder and not expected until next week.
I really wish some procedure was in place where they could tell you it was not in stock, order it, and then you could send your laptop in when they had the necessary parts. This is a huge inconvenience for me and I'm sad to say that I'm very disappointed with the service Lenovo is providing on my first Lenovo laptop. Has anybody else run into similar delays in getting their laptops repaired?

there's a chance that the part was in stock when you called but went out of stock while your system was in transit.   parts aren't reserved until a technician receives the system and determines the problem.   not every case needs new parts.   keep in mind that an in-person diagnosis is going to be much more accurate than one done over the phone.
for example, i've seen white spots on displays caused by an LCD cable -- the display itself was perfectly fine.   reserving a whole LCD in a case like this would take one display away from another repair that might need it instead.
apologies for the inconvenience so far.   hopefully your system is repaired next week as scheduled.

  • The service centre cheating and insulting me as a costomer

Sir, I bought a Sony Xperia ZL mobile handset from M/s Sony Centre, Kottayam, Kerala on 4 October 2013. After a mere 14 months of use, the phone developed complaints and I gave it at M/s Madona Care, the authorised service centre of Sony at Kottayam. I thought that it was just a software complaint. But the service centre told me that the phone was not repairable. They also told me that the company would give me some offers, so that my phone can be replaced. Their offer was that they would give me another phone, if I gave them 1/3 of the price of the handset. Accordingly I surrendered my ZL phone and remitted an advance of Rs.5000/- to them. After three weeks, I was informed that the replacement was ready and that I could accept it after remitting the balance amount of Rs.4240/-. So I got a replacement phone after remitting a total amount of Rs.9240/-. When I asked about the warranty, they told me that, in case the phone developed any complaints, I could approach them with the invoice given to me. After six months, the replacement phone also developed complaints and I approached the service centre with the invoice. When I contacted them after a week, I was informed that the complaint was not repairable and another replacement would be given within a week. When I contacted them after a week, they told me that approval was not received from the Company and that everything would be ok soon. When I contacted them next time, they asked me to contact the service manager and gave me the phone number of one Mr. Vinod. When contacted, he told me that the company was reminded about my issue and that the problem would be sorted out soon. Again I contacted him after two days, and was told that a complaint had been lodged to the company for getting warranty. I also got an SMS to this effect. When I called him again after two days, I was told that the set had no warranty. Actually, if they had not offered any warranty, shouldn’t they have repaired my set then and there?. If there was no warranty, why did they resubmit my issues to the company? I believe that, if one checks the emails sent by the service centre, one can get evidence that my set had been offered warranty. What I had narrated above is absolutely true. It is gross injustice that a world- famous company is treating a customer like this. Actually I was cheated by the authorised service centre of Sony. What I spent during last one and a half years for a phone is nearly Rs.40,000/- I request you to do the needful to redress my grievance and to remedy for the hardships I faced both financially and mentally. You may please take action to at least replace the phone as agreed by the service centre. You are also requested to take appropriate steps against the service centre for cheating and insulting a customer. Expecting a speedy response and settlement from your end, Yours faithfully K. • Apple Service Centre in New Delhi, India

My Powerbook's fan is making a lot of noise and I suspect it isn't functioning properly anymore as the internal temperature, particularly on the bottomside of the processor, is over 70 degrees centigrade. • Macbook screen not working, now it is, even after the service centre told me it needed replaceing, what gives?

My son's Macbook was taken to the local Mac service centre as the screen had suddenly gone blank.
I was told that the screen needed to be replaced.
This evenimng my son opend it up and hay it's working again.
Could anyone tell me if the Service centre has been pulling my chain or was it just a loose conection after all?
    Cheers
    Jon

    Hi Jon
I think you're being somewhat unfair.  The repair guy can only give a diagnosis from the information he has available at the time, which was a completely dead screen. The screen springing back to life is new information he didn't have.
I can't comment on the $115 charge. As with car repairs, it's always cheaper to do your own, but laptops are at least 10 times more difficult to repair than desktops. I'm happy to dive inside a desktop computer but I've always left laptops to the professionals.  I'll also add that I always buy the extended warranty for a laptop.

  • Is there a way of finding out what has been accessed on my MacBook Pro whilst in the possession of an apple authorised service centre?

    Hi Guys,
I'm a bit new to this discussion group thing although I've been using Macintosh computers for many years (showing my age).
I handed my MacBook Pro to be repaired at an authorised apple service centre. When I handed it in they said they needed to keep hold of it to run some diagnostics and requested my password. I've owned various models of mac for the the past 17 years and this is the first hardware problem I have encountered, hence I have never bothered to set up user accounts.
As I live in quite a remote part of Sweden I am paranoid that some untrusted technician is going to make a copy of my music (11,000 tracks) or share some of my personal information (scanned copies of my birth certificate, passport, certificates, photos, etc.) on the web. Is there a way of finding out what activity has taken place whilst they've had it in their possession?
I appreciate any advice you guys can offer.
    Thanks!
PS: I've already thought about the 'recently opened' menu and The machine in question is a MacBook Pro 17" (2011) running OS X 10.6.8 (need Rosetta).

I am paranoid that some untrusted technician is going to make a copy of my music (11,000 tracks) or share some of my personal information (scanned copies of my birth certificate, passport, certificates, photos, etc.) on the web.
If you put your info into the computer and hand it to another, you have to assume they will copy everything.
Why are you putting scanned copies of valuable identity information into a computer than can be hacked, stolen, lost or compromised by a dirty tech?
    Have you lost your mind?
Is there a way of finding out what activity has taken place whilst they've had it in their possession?
No. The tech would just deny it if he did, or tell the truth which the answer would be "NO" in either case.
The employer won't ask that sort of questions without solid proof, less they make a enemy of the employee and/or risk being sued for defamation of character.
It's not like they bother to have a team of people watching over his shoulder that he doesn't stick a USB thumb drive of your data into his pocket to take home.
I am paranoid that some untrusted technician is going to make a copy of my music (11,000 tracks)
If it's iTunes music, it has your personal ID embedded into the song files. Most IT techs know this though.
I appreciate any advice you guys can offer.
Too late now, all you can do is not worry about it.
Take your personal info out of the machine and if you need it, burn cd/dvd copies, a few USB thumb drives, Iron Keys or self encrypting external storage drives with key and/or keypad.

  • I spilled tea on macbook pro and got it repaired at apple authorised service centre but not convinced about there way?

recently i spilled tea on my macbook pro  screen but key were safe as it was covered with key guard, some tea trickeled down from screen to the dividing portion, imediatly i switched it off and left it for long period of time and then restarted it everything was fine only it was not getting charged the green ligh was only there, i took it to authorised apple service centre (very far) they examined it and told that everything seems to be ok..but they asked for some time to find some internal damage..i left the machine there and came back..i haven't received any call from them for two days when i asked them they told they need to change the charging port i agreed ..again no call from them..i just made a call again this time they told that charging port was unable to fix the problem..they told the the logic board has to be replaced..since it was costly and i bought the machine 5 month back ...so i made  my mind to buy new one ..again i made a call (everytime i called them) they told  me they have a logic board of some customer who broke his led panel and need to sell his logic board.they offered me if i want i can buy that..it will cost 35000(more than 50% than orignal machine) , i told them it will cover the warrenty or not they confirmed me "yes". i told them to change it since  i was out of station ,it was not possible for me to go there so it was all done on phone. please help me i collected my macbook pro with lot of doubt in my mind..
1.Is that logic board will cover the warrenty and how can i make out is they changed it or just done nothing
2.what controll apple has on its service centre
3.when i asked them if something goes wrong and  i will have to take it to any other service centre what to do,they suggested not to mention about logic board changing issue
    4. is orignal logic board has some item no or something so that i can find out, i feel ,may be wrong that hey must have cheated me..and the charging port must have resolved the problem

That all matches with the information given from one of the links I posted earlier. It fits your MBP perfectly:
