HP Pavilion x2 11-h003sa: app functionality problems following Windows 8.1 upgrade

I recently bought an HP Pavilion x2 11-h003sa 2 in 1 laptop/tablet.  This came with Windows 8, and I decided to accept the free upgrade to Windows 8.1. Since doing this, several apps, including purchased apps, are not working correctly when they worked fine on Windows 8.  Please note I have applied all available Windows updates, app updates and I have ensured they are compatible with our firewall.  Where possible I have uninstalled then reinstalled the apps. The problem is as follows:
The following apps are affected: Angry Birds Star Wars, Star Wars Assault Team and (the pre installed) Fingertaps Instruments.  When these apps are activated, the screen goes blank.  The app only reappears when the Charms Bar is swiped from the right of the screen.  If I then attempt to touch the screen to use the app, the screen will immediately go blank.  I have to activate the charms bar in order to close the app completely to return to the start menu  The apps are, consequently, useless.  The pre-installed Monopoly app is even worse, as activating this results in a blank screen and only closing the app will return to to the start menu.  I would like to emphasise that all these apps worked fine prior to upgrading to Windows 8.1. The retailer (PC World) has never encountered such an error before and suggested I try and resolve it online.
I have also noticed that occasionally, after period of use, the touchscreen and the Windows start button simply stop working, and I have to close the tablet down and restart in order to get this resolved.  I have not owned this computer long enough to comment if this had been a problem prior to upgrading tp Windows 8.
I look forward to any ideas or if anyone has encountered anything similar.  I am regretting upgrading to Windows 8.1, as the useability of an expensive and otherwise excellent piece of hardware has been compromised by this upgrade.

Hi Toastcartoons1. It sounds like it may be driver related. The update instructions indicated you should install the latest drivers before updating where possible.  Updating your HP Windows 8 PC to Windows 8.1
Maybe you can identify some opportunities, to update drivers that may be affecting the Apps you are having problems with. The most likely candidate is graphics.  Before the graphics driver, I would recommend trying the Chipset update first:
Intel Chipset Installation Utility and Driver
Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver
After installing both and restarting, try to recreate the issue. If you can, then reininstall the problematic Apps, and try again.

    Recently i'm facing huge problems with the keyboard of my T410.
    The Laptop shuts down when I press "Alt Gr", if I press shutdown - the screen spins several times before shutting down, if I use the arrow-keys the screen also flips, the normal letter-keys won't work at all. Every pressed Button makes a little beepsound.
    The scrolling-funktion on the touchpad doesnt work either.
    Using an USB-Keyboard / Mouse, I have no problems at all.
    I have installed the latest drivers and bios-update.
    This problem is there after I upgraded windows 8 to windows 8.1. All windows-updates have been made.
    Do you have any tips to use my Laptop as a laptop again? At the moment I have a small desktop PC as the laptop won't work without usb-keyboard and muse.

    I don't no what in-place means but I installed the Upgrade to 8.1 via the Windosw Store on a running Windows8 system.
    I just re-ran System Update in the latest version, checked windows updates, checked the drivers via the lenovo support page manually, latest bios...but still doesnt work.
    In the Windows 8.1 Tested System List from the lenovo homepage which I just found is the T410 not listed. So I assume it could be a compatibility problem.
    Back to Win8?

    Here are a few of the symptons that I have experienced-
    Dropbox came up with a relink request and said the folder had been moved
    Mail shuts down suddenly
    Chrom shuts down suddenly and when I re open, the restore banner shows and then disappears
    within Chrom, the recently closed tabs in HISTORY does not show the tabs that were up when the mysterious shutdowns occur.

    Have you tried starting in Safe Mode and see if the problems still occur?
    Restart holding the "shift" key.
    (Expect it to take longer to start this way because it runs a directory check first.)

  • Miix 10 - Graphics, sound and general performanc​e problems after Windows 8.1 upgrade

    I upgraded to Windows 8.1 from 8 (tablet Lenovo Miix 10) and I encountered the following problems:
    1. It wasn't possible to install an update of Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver through Windows Update. This update was "available" until I downloaded the new chipset drivers from Lenovo support.
    2. Some times after returning from standby, It displays the message that the graphics card had crashed.
    3. I have encountered several problems in these applications:
    a) Twitter: When I scroll up and down my timeline the flow is not smooth. When I stop the scrolling to see a tweet the display does not stop, but it does a small "jump" in the direction that I was scolling before It returns to the point that I had stopped scrolling.

    the other issues ive not experienced!
    i felt my tablet was very stable and fast, bar the GFx problem, (bearing in mind its a Atom)
    id advise removing any apps you dont require,
    doing a C Drive Clean up, (right click C drive,properties, disk clean up, then system disk clean up.)
    then also doing a Defrag button in tools (it wont Defrag as its SSD, but it will TRIM the disk, (its done weekly by default anyway..)

  • Problems following iOS 7.03 upgrade on iPhone 4

    This week I upgraded my iPhone 4 to iOS 7.03.  Today I discovered that two of my apps had not been installed fully:  Twitter and LinkedIn, specifically.  When trying to troubleshoot the situation, I discovered also that I'm unable to reinstall deleted apps from the cloud or update existing apps since the upgrade.  In an effort to fix the situation, I uninstalled the Twitter and LinkedIn apps and tried to reinstall.  At first, it appeared that the app was installing (while still in the iTunes store) but when I checked my iPhone screen page, the apps were not there.  I never was asked for my Apple ID, which should have been my first clue that something was up.  I then tried to install a previously-deleted app from iCloud but, again, nothing other than the never-ending spinning circle happened.  I signed out of the iTunes store and powered down my iPhone and restarted as several have suggested but still no luck.  If anyone else has experienced this problem and found a fix, I'd appreciate your help.  Thanks much!

    Thanks, I also tried them but they were useless.  This only happened after upgrading to IOS 7.1

    I understand you've been having some difficulty getting your printer installed after upgrading to Windows 8.1. I'm sorry to hear that, but I will do my best to see if I can help out, I just need a bit more information as to your setup.
    1. Which model HP printer do you have?
    2. How is the printer connected to the PC?
    3. You said you are having the same problem as others, what problem would that be? What is going on that you are uninstalling and reinstalling the printer?
    4. What operating system did you upgrade from? Was everything working on that operating system?
    Have you tried downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor to see what diagnosis it has to offer? If not, please give that a try and let me know the results. If it fails on anything please let me know where.

    Probably the easiest way to use an iPod on both Mac and Windows computers is to format the iPod (using iPod Updater) using the PC. This will force your iPod to use the Windows file system (FAT32) which both the Mac and PC can read from and write to without the help of additional software. Of course then all your software updates for the iPod will have to be done on Windows.

If you need to use a Mac (HFS+) formatted iPod on a Windows PC, you'll need to install some 3rd party software such as XPlay 2.0 (which you can get from MediaFour Software). This will enable your Windows PC to read a Mac-formatted iPod.

    How much space is used by your Other? You may be able to reduce.

    With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. I do not know what exactly I have to do, because if informed a new payment method continues with the same problem, checked the card bill and really had given an error, because there was no billed the game. I ask you to verify what happened and explain to me what I need to do, because my single card is Visa's and do not intend to return others to use the services of the App Store.

  • Preview App printing problem

    Running 10.6.8 on a Quad-Core PowerMac with Canon IP2600 printer via USB.
    Thought I was running out of ink at first, but a closer look shows documents printed from Preview.app are printing only outlines of black characters and black graphics as if everything is in an outline font. At first it was the lower 2/3rds of the page, then 3/4s, now it's the entire page printing black in faint outlines only, very precise (while color logos print normally).
    These docs are PNGs. The same PNG prints perfectly in Photoshop. So I created a doc in Photoshop with two thick, solid, vertical black lines; saved and printed as a PNG and as a JPEG, both print fine in Photoshop. When opened and printed in Preview, both print as a series of very thin rectangular outlines running down the page.
    Started happening out of the blue a few days ago, so I trashed three Preview pref files (showing recent modification dates), restarted and nothing changed. Do I need to reinstall the app? Can't think of any recent changes that might've affected Preview or the printer, no updates or installs in the past few weeks. Preview displays onscreen as it's supposed to.....
    Anybody have a clue what's going on here? The only other Preview.app printing problem I can find has to do with printer color profiles.....

    Well..... duh!
    The real mystery is why docs in Photoshop continued printing long after Preview had quit printing those SAME docs. Photoshop never did fail to print - but a new ink tank/print head solved the problem.
    Good thing ya can't LOSE points for asking stupid questions, huh.

    the cc desktop app is used to install and update cc programs (and a few other thinigs).  but that does not include 'opening' the installed programs.
    click your start button or your program files directory to find the acrobat executable to launch acrobat (and any of your other apps, adobe or otherwise).

    The better way to learn Oracle application (any module) is if you have a Domain Knowledge or experience and the company where u r seeking this domain experience should have implemented the ERP suit then that is the real kind of experience that how its works for your environment. Environment could be Manufacturing(Descrete/Process), Financials, Human Resource, or Distribution wherein the product Oracle application is mapped.
    Basically Oracle application is suited for any kind of industry in the World and can be mapped upto 85% and the remaining 15% of mapping can be done by means of Customization or any workarounds.

    I'm not a functional consultant but what I would suggest is querying projects responsibilities (Security > Responsibility > Define) "search for %Project%" and see which one should be assigned to your projects users.
