HP Photosmart D5460 installs "copy" of itself

The printer is installed as HP Photosmart D5460. Seemingly at random, a second printer named HP Photosmart D5460 (Copy 1) appears. This "Copy 1" shows up as the default printer and as the printer the print command looks to--but, of course, this doesn't work, since it's not the "real" printer. I have deleted this printer numerous times and changed the default printer every time. This still occurs. We have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer.

Adobe reader X 10.1.1 installer file deletes itself after installation starts?

On my windows 7 pro 64bit, I downloaded the installer and installed adobe reader 10.1.1. Right after I started the installation the installer file disappeared. Did the installer file delete itself? Is this normal and as designed?
The installer file name:
install_reader10_en_air_gtbd_aih.exe

The answer to the original poster's question is that this is normal and as designed.
But *WHY* did Adobe design it this way? It's simple enough to make a copy before doing the installation, but the first time it happens I have to stop and figure out if it's normal.
I suppose there might be some benefit for the average naive user, but still, most installers don't have this behavior.

Air Installer Copying and or extracting external files

Is there a way to have an air installer copy an external file to the installation directory? We are using video data in our app and the resulting air application is just far to big (i.e installer will not run on the end users machine). So I am thinking that perhaps the air installer can install the app then copy any required media/data from external files to the correct directory.
Can this be done?

I have done something similar with a document management app.
Once the app was installed it would check for a DVD / Thumb drive and silently copy all the documents from another drive to the (ASD) AppStorageDirectory.
You could also download your media files to the AppStorageDirectory as well.
When my app gets updated I have a function that deletes obsolete files from the ADS and leave the files I need to persist untouched.
Here is a snippet that reads available drives and looks for a specific named drive and then creates an Array listing all the files which can
then be copied using SOURCE.copyToAsync(DESTINATION)...

HP Ink Compatibility for HP Photosmart D5460

I have an HP Photosmart D5460 that I bought from the U.K, but since I do not stay in the U.K, I had to replace the original catriges that came with the printer. But the problem is, I got the catriges from the U.S and now the printer says wrong ink catriges installed. Is there a way to change the printer's regional ink compatibilities? please help as I use the printer for my photography business.

What country are you in? The HP SureSupply site here lists the 61 or 61XL cartridges as compatible with the HP Envy 4500 printer in the US. (If you are in a different country there may be different cartridges, 301 or 802 depending on the region.)

Reinstall using installer copied from Time Machine.

I was worried about viruses and installed Avira free anti-virus. It messed up a few things (unmounting USB drives and more) so I uninstalled it. However, OS X 10.10 and Safari still seem slow and flakey. I have the installer copied from a Time Machine disk. Can I just copy this into the Application folder, run it and reinstall everything? Has anyone tried this?

Easier would be to simply restart in recovery mode, by holding down command-R at startup, and reinstall that way.
That will require re-downloading, however... if you're trying to avoid that, you can turn the backed-up installer into a bootable install disk:

B82F10DE error in HP Photosmart D5460

I am getting a blue screen with a B82F10DE error in HP Photosmart D5460 printer. Reinstalled drivers, updates, and unplugged, replugged, restarted computer to no avail. USB cable plugged in, but computer does not recognize printer device, tried other USB ports but still nothing. Blue screen B82F10DE whether or not plugged into computer. Any ideas? Thanks.

What operating system are you using ? Are you getting error message on the computer or on the printer screen?
What you might want to do is download the HP Print and Scan Doctor. It will help diagnose and resolve printing and connection issues. After you run this let us know what it says and/or what happens.

Yes, the color XL cartrdiges are the same physical size (but hold more ink).

Photosmart d5460 print server replacement?

hi i have a hp photosmart d5460 and used a 2101nw print server and it is broke, is there a replacement for it?

Same happened to my HP Photosmart D5460. A week or so ago, all was working well until ink ran low. Went out and purchased all new color cartridges and installed them and proceeded to print. Black prints great but nothing in color will print. At one time I got an error message "Ink Sensor Failure". Removed the print head and tried to clean it but that did not do any good. The next fix will be to get pressurized air and try to blow out the sensors.
If anyone has any suggestions, let me know.

Did you partition and format the flash drive first? See the following:
Make Your Own Mavericks, Mountain/Lion Installer
After downloading the installer you must first save the Install Mac OS X application. After the installer downloads DO NOT click on the Install button. Go to your Applications folder and make a copy of the installer. Move the copy into your Downloads folder. Now you can click on the Install button. You must do this because the installer deletes itself automatically when it finishes installing.
2. Get a USB flash drive that is at least 8 GBs. Prep this flash drive as follows:
Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
After DU loads select your flash drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the leftside list. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list.
Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to an hour depending upon the flash drive size.
Make your own Mavericks flash drive installer using the Mavericks tool:
Mavericks has its own built-in installer maker you use via the Terminal:
You will need a freshly partitioned and formatted USB flash drive with at least 8GBs. Leave the name of the flash drive at the system default, "Untitled." Do not change this name. Open the Terminal in the Utilities folder. Copy this command line after the prompt in the Terminal's window:
sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app --nointeraction
Press RETURN. Enter your admin password when prompted. It will not be echoed to the screen so be careful to enter it correctly. Press RETURN, again.
Wait for the process to complete which will take quite some time.

Photosmart C4795 installation error on Windows 7 64 bits

Dear experts,
I have been facing an annoying issue while installing HP Photosmart C4700 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver I recently donwloaded from HP website.
During the installation process, the window suddenly closes when "applying updates". No error message is shown or anything that could tell us what went wrong, it just disappears from my screen.

Launch the installation and follow the steps till the EULA (License Agreement) screen.
Click the 2nd link - Internet Connection Usage Settings and select No, Thanks for both of the listed questions.
Confirm the selection, accept the EULA and continue the installation which should no\w proceed further.

My Photosmart 5512 can copy, scan, print documents, but it won't print web pages

Yesterday, having had problems scanning on my HP Photosmart 5512 All-in-One printer after an HP update, I went to the HP support site and downloaded the most recent driver for my printer. Once it had finished downloading, it automatically went into the installation process. Almost everything ended up working fine except I'm unable to print a web page. I can print from Word and Excel, I can make copies, and I can scan.
I installed and then ran the print and scan doctor, but to no avail. When I looked at the print queue there was nothing there, even though I had made four attempts to print a webpage.
Does anyone there have any ideas? Your assistance would be most appreciated.

Thank you for your help! I tried reseting the printing system and removed the printer (as indicated in the instructions); however, when trying to add the printer back on it says, "Unable to communicate with the printer at this time." The printer says that it's connected and the ePrint setting is on... Any suggestions of what to do from here?

Adjusting black and white contrast on Photosmart 7520 whilst copying

I can't find any instruction on how to adjust copying contrast on black and white copies..

I have the 7520, also. I am not aware of any adjustment for the contrast when copying. I am not at my printer at the moment, but I will check it out more throroughly a bit later. I will get back to you.
Update: I checked to see what settings were available when Copying. You press Copy button / Settings / Quality - Draft, Normal (Default) & Best. I suggest trying the Best setting and press the Black button to see if that helps. These are the only settings that I could find.

I have a photosmart C7280 printer. Powers itself on after powering off and gets error message/blink

Photosmart C7200 powers itself on after powering off. I get an error message and lights are blinking. To clear I have to unplug.

My hp psc 2410xi photosmart will not copy. I can print from the computer. Printer goes thru motions

Printer goes through the motions of copying documents, but they are totally blank when they leave machine. I have new ink cartridges, and can print from computer?

Hi , Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand that your HP Photosmart 2410xi printer will not copy. I am happy to help! When you make a copy with the printer, and lift the lid during the process. Do you see a light come on, and the scanner bar move? In the meantime, I would recommend to do a hard reset, by going to this post, How to perform a Hard Reset, by . It is important that the printer's power cable is plugged directly into the wall outlet, and not a surge protector. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector. This applies to Inkjet printers as well. Try the copy again. I would also make sure, that you are using Genuine HP Ink Cartridges, and that none of the Cartridges are empty or low.
