hello,, please help me !!! i have upgraded my windows to windows 8 pro 64bit and now the fingerprint reader can't be readen on the device manager (there are no biometric devices),,,downloaded all the drivers and updated the bios ,,,,no way at all there aren't any biometric devices on my pc and no any resolve written in other posts please help me

HP Probook 4540s: Fingerprint Scanner Not Working

Hi,
Problem: Fingerprint Scanner - Windows log in does not give option to log in via fingerprint scanner.
Overview: After installing fingerprint drivers from the HP site and using the HP Protect Tools to successfully enroll fingerprint, I tried logging in via this method but the windows log in screen does not display this option. Device manager correctly identifies and shows the fingerprint sensor - however, the control panel says no biometric devices detected.
I really need help in sorting out this issue. Details of what steps I took trying to make the scanner work are given below.
Specs:
1) Probook 4540s
2) Windows 7 64-bit
3) i5-3210m, 1Gb Hd 7650m, 4 Gb 1333Mhz, 750Gb 5400rpm, VFS 491 Fingerprint scanner.
Details of the problem and steps I took to install drivers:
After a fresh installation of Windows 7, I went to the HP driver site to download the latest drivers for Probook 4540s:

I installed the drivers in roughly this order:
1)realtek ethernet controller drivers,
2)audio drivers,
3) the chipset and USB 3.0 drivers (but not the Intel MEI driver)
4) Intel video driver: faced an issue such that drivers were not being allowed to install. After disabling switchable graphics in the bios, I was able to get these drivers to install.
5) AMD video drivers: installed after the intel HD graphics driver - installed but Catalyst Control Center was not being displayed. So I re-enabled switchable graphics in BIOS, re-installed these drivers and CCC was now available.
6) HP hotkey support
7) HP universal camera driver
8) Validity Fingerprint sensor
9) Synaptics Touchpad driver
10) Atheros wifi & bluetooth
11) Jmicron card reader
After driver installation, I installed the HP Protect Tools. After prompting for a PC reboot - which I did - it asked for setup of security etc.. Part of this pocess was the enrolling of my fingerprints - successful. However, upon log off/ restart of windows, an option to log in with the fingerprint scanner did not appear in the Windows log in screen.
I opened the Control Panel, and found there was no biometric devices tab, even though device manager showed biometric device and validity sensor (VFS 491). I then proceeded to uninstall HP protect tools and the validity driver for the fingerprint sensor, then made sure these services were running:
-Credential Manager
-Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
-DCOM Server Process Launcher
-RPC Endpoint Mapper
-Windows Biometric Service
-Plug and Play
Then as suggested in another forum post, I first installed this :http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55109.exe and then the validity drivers from 4540s drivers page, and then HP Protect Tools.
After reboot HP Protect Tools as before would enroll my fingerprints, but again no prompt at windows login came to log in with fingerprint. However, one change after the installtion of http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55109.exe was that in control panel there is now a tab for biometric devices; however, it says that windows did not find any biometric devices installed. An image is attached showing both the device manager and the control panel!

Ok problem solved. I dont know whether it is related to the installation of HP windows 7 Essential System Updates and Intel MEI driver or not - but I did install these.
What really worked without doubt was this - > install both the fingerprint drivers and then the HP Protect Tools. Once rebooted, open HP Protect tools, then go to administration in the bottom right corner -> Administrative Console ->Increase System security -> tick windows login security and your done. Now you will be able to log in via enrolled fingerprints.

I install the drivers form Valitdy that enables WBF so I can use the sensor in windows 8.1 from here

I have Windows 7 Pro, 64Bit. Itunes works fine except I can't go to the ITunes store from in the software. It starts and then goes blank page. I have tried all the fixes and had a IT group working all day on this. Not fixed. Any suggestions?

Can I install Windows 7 Pro 64bit on my Machine?

My MacPro 8 core with 6GB of RAM is running MAC OSX 10.5.8. How can I tell if I can run Windows 7 Pro via Boot camp? Is my Mac machine 32bit or 64bit?

An Early 2008 or later Mac Pro is supported for installing Windows 7 64-bit.
All Intel-based Macs with a t least a Core 2 Duo or better processor is 64-bit.

Can I clean install a Windows 7 Pro System Builder on a Lenovo PC with Windows 8 preinstalled?

Hi. I would like to clean install windows 7 on a Lenovo PC that came with Windows 8 core preinstalled. I want to format the entire drive and remove windows 8 and clean install windows 7. I already tried the clean install of Windows 7 Pro to get all of my drivers in line, and now I would like to buy a Product Key.
Would a Windows 7 Pro System Builder work in my case? Would it work just as smoothly as a retail version? I understand that the System Builder is an OEM version that includes the Product Key, COA, and DVD) Just want to make sure before I buy the System Builder version of Windows 7 Pro. Thanks.

that should be retail since it seemed to be used for pc upgrades either way your new system builder key should work. those are called refresh because they re-released them sincea bug was found in thier installers. Do you have any key in the computer atm? or is windows just waiting to be activated?

Should you want to use the DVD images permanently, and don't own a product key yet, you can order a Windows 7 OEM or retail version from Amazon. The OEM reinstallation versions contain a DVD with a product key just like the retail versions. They are significantly cheaper, but lack a proper box packaging, and don't include technical support by Microsoft. The OEM key will work with the Digital River downloads, so you can just pick the cheapest one. Can't find services on Windows XP Pro

My iPod touch 4th generation will connect to itunes, but there is a message that says "This iPod cannot be used because the Apple Mobile Device service is not started." Those are the exact words. So I searched for it on the apple website and came up with a diagnosis. The problem is, when I go to 'control panel' and under 'administrative tools' like I'm supposed to, I can't find 'services' which is what I need. I have a Windows XP Pro computer. Anybody have a clue about what I am supposed to do?
This is an iPod that I have had for almost a year, but itunes recently emptied itself on me. I had to sync my iPod to get all my songs back onto the computer after that, and this is my first time trying to sync it after that.

On your desk top screen right click "My Computer."
Click "Manage"
This should bring up the Computer Management snap-in.
In the left hand pane click "Services and Applications," then click on "Services."
If you cannot launch the Computer Management snap-in you may not have Administrator rights. To get access you would need to log into an administrator account.

My iTunes can't open on my windows xp pro at all

I just installed windows xp pro sp2 and i wen to ituens website and downloaded the latest version. At first it was working fine but a couple hours later it wont open at all theres no error message or anything else it will not open at all.I uninstalled and reinstalled it back and rebooted the computer and tried to open it again and still will not open at all.I also removed the ipod plugin and still nothing. Do you ust see the hourglass briefly when you try to start iTunes, then nothing?
If you open the task manager after trying to start iTunes, do you see iTunes.exe running on the processes tab?
If so you have a special type of launch failure which is often associated with problems with crypographic services in Windows XP. I will give a troubleshooting method which has been quite successful in diagnosing the cause of the problem. You need to work carefully through the various steps and feed back the results of each step, there a re a number of things taht could be causing this.

How can I run 2 Dreamweaver windows at the same time?

How can I run 2 Dreamweaver windows at the same time on my
PC?
basically I have 2 monitors and I want to edit CSS on one
monitor and have the html page open on the other so I can quickly
look from one to another with in a split second instead of taking
that extra time to switch back and forth using the tabs at the top,
I know I should probably invest into a mac so i can work out side
of the Dreamweaver application window and I will in the future but
is there any way i can do this on my windows XP pro PC?

Can I 'move' my current Win XP Pro sytem into boot camp?

Searched high and low, but haven't been able to find an answer to this.
Can I 'move' my current Windows XP Pro SP2 installation into the Boot Camp Partition of one of the new iMacs?
By 'move' I mean something like ghosting/backing up the current C drive and then restoring it into the boot camp partition.
I'm relatively tech savvy (at least on the Windows side) so fiddling with / re-installing drivers etc shouldn't be a problem (as long as Windows comes up and recognizes at least the keyboard)

You should download and play with Parallels Desktop for Mac. Not as a final solution, but as an in between. they have some utilities for moving Windows machines and images into virtual machines and also utilities for moving between virtual machines and boot camp - so some combination of those might be the solution you're looking for.
Personally, I just run XP and Vista in Parallels - it works perfectly.

HP Probook 4540s can get backlit keyboard?

Hello all,
I have an HP Probook 4540s, i7, 2nd generation laptop. A backlit keyboard wasn't something I was considering when I bought the laptop, but now, after use, I find myself wishing that there was back light for the keyboard.
My question is whether I can have a backlit keyboard installed into my laptop (ie. replace the keyboard maybe?). If so, what are the steps I must take to do so?

Hi,
Normally the keyboard alone won't do anything good. You need to replace the mother board/system board too because you need somewhere to plug cables for all the lights. Some people suggested using internal USB power source and this could be a very, very, very costly exercise.
