I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion 15-e016tx Notebook and the HP Support Assistant not working correctly. Here is a link to troubleshoot the HP Support Assistant. Sometimes the updates have been completed already. So I would ignore the updates. If you are running Virus Protection program I would try to disable it and then try the updates. Here is a link to put the Notebook in Safe Mode. Then you can try running the HP Support Assistant. I've rebuilt my PC with Win 7 64 bit on an SSD.
I decided to update my motherboard (P45 Neo3) Bios and Real Tek drivers via Live Update 5.
It downloaded all the files I want but has not installed them?
How do you get them installed?

Please do not use MSI Live Update, especially when it comes to BIOS Flashing. It is dangerous! You would not be the first user who renders his board useless by a Windows based BIOS flash. Uninstall this stupid utility.

You can find the latest BIOS Update for your board on your board's product site. I would give you a link, but you were not specific enough regarding the precise mainboard model you are using:

There are different versions, which require different BIOS Versions. Please check your current BIOS Version before you do anything. Live Update may flash the wrong BIOS as well (as I said, not the smartest utility).

If you want help you’ll need to give us more information. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

My HP Support Assistant is downloading driver updates but not installing,

I use HP 15-r046tu Notebook PC, the issue is my HP Support Assistant is downloading driver updates and every single time its failing to install. I even saw earlier posts on this issue and downloaded the latest support assistant and also followed the instructions but yet its not helping to solve the issue. btw i am using windows 8.1.
I would really appreciate if one could help me solve this isuee.

Depending on the underlying cause of the problem, the HPSA (HP Support Assistant) may never be able to install the updates on your particular system. The problem could be a server problem, it could be the Internet path the data has to take to get to your part of the planet, it might be your Internet provider that, at any particular moment in time, is not cooperating, it is possible that your computer is having RPC issues due to outdated drivers, File System errors --- whatever.
IF you find and fix whatever mystery is causing the root cause of the prlblem, then Voila! The install portion of the program may work.
This wonderful program works for millions of people -- and yet it does not work for many deserving folks who have done nothing wrong and who do not know why it does not work for them.
Make sure your Windows Updates are current.
Create a Restore Point: Create a Restore Point – Win7 OR Create a restore point Win8
Next:
Close all your programs and shut down your computer
Shut down and Switch off any other computers in the network
Switch off any printers on the network
Switch off the Router
Disconnect everything on this computer (little Unifier for the keyboard / external mouse can stay)
Perform the Hard Reset for your notebook model
Switch on the router - wait at least thirty seconds for the router to boot.
Boot the computer and log in
Reminder: Hard Reset is just a device Reset. The procedure does not wipe out your files nor does it destroy your Windows setup in any way. It just "clears the cobwebs". Depending on the cause of the problem, this kind of "reset" can fix a variety of computer glitches.
This exercise is unlikely to fix the problem; it might do so if the problem is minor and related to stuck instructions or minor temporary link or device issues.
Suggested Workaround to the problem
You can use the Patch list provided by HPSA and then open your computer's website to find, download, and install the drivers and software you want to update.
NOTE: Please see the Comments below before you Update your BIOS. Please do not update the BIOS unless it is necessary and your computer is fully backed up beforehand.

Commentary -- BIOS Updates
It is this Expert's opinion that you should not depend on HP Support Assistant when it comes to BIOS updates.
Depending on other factors in the system at the time the HPSA tries to hit your system with an update of this type; the results might be ... other than expected.
You might set HPSA to "Notify" to prevent it from trying to update your BIOS.
ONLY update the BIOS when you see an update in your computer's webpage AND that update can be used to provide a fix for an issue you have discovered in your system. In other words: If your computer is happy, do not update the BIOS just because you think it would be a nice thing to do to it.
If you decide to update your BIOS,
Make sure ALL your backups are current and complete - this means everything you need to restore the system in the event that something goes wrong.
Understand that even when you do everything exactly right, you can end up with a bricked computer, that is, an expensive paper weight.
Make sure you have at least your critical data on some form of external backup.
Disconnect USB drives and any other unnecessary hardware. Keyboard and mouse can stay connected.
Always run in AC power when updating the BIOS, never on the notebook battery
Do not touch the system while the update is in progress
Optional: Leave wireless button ON. You might switch off the router to assure there are no interruptions.

I can download emails, but not open them.

I recently updated Mozilla Thunderbird to the latest version (31.5.0), and started having problems with three of my five email addresses. Specifically, I can download my messages to Thunderbird ... but not open them! When I click a message, it opens a new tab, which remains blank. I've given one of those tabs a half hour while working on other things, and the email never opened. Also, the program makes my laptop sound like it's running a marathon while it tries to simply open an email.
The two addresses that work fine are Gmail addresses. The three that are having trouble are specific to three domains that I own. (i.e. myname @ mywebsite.com).
I've searched for the answer, and haven't run across anyone else talking about this problem.
I was meaning to set up these addresses through Google Apps anyway, so I connected one of the problem accounts to Google. I can now handle those emails online at Gmail, but I like the Thunderbird interface better. I had hopes that running this addy through Gmail would magically make Thunderbird work again (since Thunderbird wasn't having any problems with my @gmail addresses), but no luck.
On top of all this, when I get fed up with Thunderbird and close it ... the program won't open again unless I restart my laptop.
Any ideas?

Just to add, you can also try:Main Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All > Email > Clear Data > You will likely need to setup the email again after doing this. What are your thoughts about this forum? Let us know by doing this short survey.

10.6.8 in software updates but not installing

I am having issues with installing software updates for my iMac. I had to manually download and install the 10.6.7 update (I chose the combo) from the apple site. It shows that the update is downloaded in my software updates but it will not install before or after restart. I was successul at installing the 10.6.7 combo, but now I am having the same issue with 10.6.8. I did download the update combo from the apple website, but when I try to install, I get an error stating "The installation failed. The installer could not install the software because there was no software found to install." I am a newer (1-2 years) mac user so I'm having issues finding solutions.

When viewing the apps list in AAM the programs PS, AI & ID are listed as updated, but I do not have thr CS6 versions installed. Can you inform me on how to get the current versions installed?

you probably should have two files, an exe and a 7z file in the same directory. if so, click (or double click) the exe.
if that fails, what files(s) (name and extension) and file size(s) have you downloaded?

I want to be able to download reader - but not install.

I maintain a number of computers and I am trying to download Adobe Reader v9.4 wiothout installing - just the executable. Adobe's website insists on installing the application rather than giving me the option to save to a location. Am I missing something? Feeling pretty frustrated at the moment. They don't advertise it but you can get the full installers at their FTP site at ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/. You'll want to click
on the version number for the installer you want. 9.3 and 9.4 are full installers, the ones in between are the updates.

Acrobat XI Pro Listed as updated, but not installed

Using Mac OS10.9.4 and have CC subscription. Tried to use Acrobat, and got a serial number request, noticed that Acrobat X was installed. I uninstalled it, but noticed that there was no Acrobat XI Pro installed, even though it shows that it was recently updated in the CC menubar app. What's up with this?

Sorry - I didn't realize your entire single line post was a link.
I did delete the OPM.db file, re-logged in and Acrobat still appear. I even uninstalled the CC manager app, reinstalled it (ala solution 3), and no change. My next option apparently is to uninstall the entire CC collection... this is ridiculous.
There was no mention of other files to delete in the OBE folder - I'm going to delete the ones that say acrobat 11 and see what happens.

Downloading but not installing Mountain Lion?

I have a MacBook Pro with Retina display purchased since June 11 so I qualify for the free upgrade to Mountain Lion. I understand that I have 30 days to get the software for free once it is released. On the other hand, I would like to wait before installing the software until 10.8.1 or 10.8.2 are released to let some of the bugs be ironed out first. Is it possible to download ML but not install it (within the 30 day period)?

I would do as stated above except that I would set the install location to an external drive and then when the download finishes disconnect the external.
The reason for this is you may not have the option to NOT reboot the system after the download finishes. And even if you do have that option at the time the download finishes the next time the system reboots it may be set, in the EFI system or through some command placed on the hard rive, to start the install automatically.
At this time no one really knows how Mountain Lion will react when downloaded from the Mac App Store.
Also putting the download on an external drive allows to to actually install it to that external and run it from there to check it out before you do the install on your internal drive.

HT201210 My download for iOS 7 was interrupted, it has downloaded but not installed. it goes through routine Terms & Agreements and everything, but when i try to update it tries to verify the update then says that the update is not available.

I dont understand, when i try to update it will go through routine apple stuff, then it it will say " Software Update Unavailable (under) Software Update is not available at this time. Try again later." The thing is that i was downloading it and my wi-fi had restarted for some unknown reason and it downloaded onto my phone but not installed. and at the moment it is really bothering me because I have waited a long time for iOS 7 and I am not being allowed to update my phone to it and i just wanted to know how to fix it. I imagine a ton of people are attempting to download it right now. Simple patience, maybe keep trying, and if possible, try a little later. Think of it as all those people lining up at Apple Stores + about a million more.

Clients receiving updates but not reporting

Hi All,
I'm having an issue where all Windows 8.1 clients are downloading updates just not reporting back into my console. This seems to be happening since I upgraded to Windows Server 2012R2 (from 2008R2) and created a new WSUS implementation.
The Windows Update Fix-It does fix the issue but this is happening on 50+ pcs and I really need to be able to silently deploy a fix to them. I'd also like to know what caused it so it doesn't happen again. I do have 1 or 2 Windows 7 machines this
happens on, but 99% is on Windows 8.1. I've tried manually fixing based on the Fix-It findings but nothing I have done so far has worked.
Does anyone have any ideas where I should start?
Here are the Fix-It Issues Found:
1. Service Registration is missing or corrupt.
       Reset service registration
2. Windows Update erroe 0x8007000D (2015-04-20-T-09_02_15A)
       Resetting Windows Update data store
3. Problem installing recent updates
       Repair Windows Update
I believe #3 is caused because I use WPP to publish Adobe Flash Player. I do not have my 400+ PCs segregated by OS, rather by departments. So Win 8 machines get Adobe Flash Player WPP updates and constantly fail. I have thought this might be an issue.

Computer Config > Admin Templates > Windows Components > Windows Updates
1. Configure Automatic Updates (enabled and set to 3)
2. Specify intranet Microsoft Update Service Location (set to enabled and my WSUS IP)
3. Automatic Update detection frequency (enabled)
Resetting the susid seems to work for some clients and then the GP edit seems to work for others.
I do have to remove the client from the WSUS console before resetting the susid or it will not work.
Now I am concerned I have something wrong with my sysprep'd images. However, even some out of the box from a store machines are not reporting. It's perplexing.

Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing on your iPhone. It sounds like you are not noticing transparency on your iPhone. It may be that you have "Increase Contrast" turned on in your iPhone settings.
I recommend verifying that Increase Contrast is turned off in Settings>General>Accessibility.
