Hp Zbook 17Inch Ecternal microphone question

Hello.
The other day I bought this external microphone to hook up to my zbook but I have no input port for this.
Is there a way I can use this microphone on my protable workstation?

I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial product. You can do this at http://h30499.www3.hp.com/hpeb/

  • Blu Yetti Pro Microphone Questions

    Hey Guys
i just want t pick your brains for a bit i have Blu Yetti Pro USB microphone it works totally fine i can record in logic and  garageband fine but my questions are
    1. if i go to Launchpad>Other>Audio MIDI Setup sometimes the microphone is stuck on mute even though the actual microphone is not muted the only way i can resolve this is by unplugging the usb out of the microphone then replugging it back in and also the microphone won't pickup any sound sometimes unless i go to the input tab and move the input volume slider left to right.
    2. also in Audio MIDI Setup the settings are the standard which is 44100.0 Hz at 2ch-24bit integer i notice in Logic Pro X if i change that to say 96000.0 Hz when i live record in logic Pro X my voice comes out real deep or Extreme Latency(Delay).
anyways i know these aren't real important questions i just thought if a fellow Helper could shed some light on these questions lol
if you need any more info let me know ill respond fairly quickly
thank you for your time guys and girls

After doing some research, found that it is possible to get rid of original SuperDrive with no issues. And usually all Blu-Ray drives are plug and play and require no driver.
The Blu-Ray is set region code by software just like with a DVD drive and with limited number of times you can change between regions.
Best Blu-Ray players are LG as they have the least problems of compatibility with the Mac Pro (unlike the Pioneers).
    Thanks

  • External microphone question

Is there a difference in audio input quality between the microphone input jack and a USB port? I'm trying to add narration to a slideshow in Final Cut Express and the iMac appears to be finicky about which external microphones it will accept. My very old pc mic doesn't work through the audio input jack (it's not "powered," which I understand is needed). A USB headset/boom mic does work, but there is a slight hum when the volume is raised to a sufficiently audible level (this item is fairly new, but came with a foreign language course for use on a pc). Presuming I get a new mic, is one or the other input better for recording voice, USB or the input jack? Thanks.
    Bob

Most USB mics are likely to work. Mics that plug into the mic jack may or may not work depending upon their impedance and output level which must be high enough to be detected on the port. It's a good idea to look for a regular mic that is stated to be compatible with a Mac. This is less likely to ever be a problem with a USB mic. So your decision probably has to center around how much you use the mic and whether you can give up a USB port for one.
You can use older mics or mics with low output levels by buying a Griffin iMic that handles a regular mic with a 3.5 mm mini-plug and plugs into a USB port. It also has a headphone jack for sound out from the iMic. They're relatively inexpensive. You can also find what are called "USB sound cards." These vary in price and size (Griffin's iMic is really a USB sound card.) One such product (it's on the pricey side) is found here. Other similar products abound on eBay.

  • Trying to use Two Speakers IN Two Jacks on an X-Fi. Microphone Question As We

I just bought the X-Fi Fatalty Champion Series card, with the front dri've. Love the sound quality and the novelty of the front control set-up, but having a few major problems.
. I can't seem to connect my two powered speakers to two different jacks correctly.
I have two powered monitor speakers. Both have /4" outputs, so I'm using two /4" to /8" cables so they'll work with my card. However, I can't get them to work correctly in two separate jacks. They do produce sound, but not at the same levels, or as "Right Speaker and Left Speaker"
    Example.
    Left Speaker into Line Out
Right Speaker into Line Out 2
I can't get them to function as a stereo (Left Right) pair (which is very important to me). Yes, they both make sound, but the Left Speaker is extremely dominant. About 75% more dominant in fact.
How can I plug both my speakers to the card to get what I'm looking for.
    2. I can't get the microphone jack (front or back) to record, or work correctly.
I can plug a mic in, and hear it in my own speakers (or headphones. I've tried both), however recording in Windows sound recorder, or using voice chats like Teamspeak... nothing. I can hear myself, but others can't. What do I need to do in order to use a microphone correctly with the sound card? What are the exact settings from Windows Start Menu to finish that I need to follow (if any)?
I'm very frustrated, and have given myself a few gray hairs over these matters today. I played around with settings and combinations for close to 2 hours today.
If anyone can help me, I'd be thrilled.
    Thanks in advance
    -Z

You are not supposed to connect a pair of speakers(as in left and right in a stereo pair)to two separate out jacks on the sound card.the place on the card where headphones/speakers with the mini jack goes is the right place.

  • 5300 Headset microphone question

    Hi,
Hope someone can help - I've got a Nokia 5300 with the standard headphones that come with it. When you plug the headphones in it asks if you want to use the microphone on the headphones to which, when you say 'yes' you can obvioulsy talk handsfree. When I connected it the other day I clumsily pressed something I shouldn't and cancelled the microphone setting and I have no idea how to get it back on so now when I plug the headphones in I can listen to the music and hear calls through the headphones but it doesn't register the microphone so I have to hold the phone up and talk to the phone's mic. I've hunted through the settings and can't seem to find how to get the phone to recognise the headphone's microphone again. Can anyone help please...
    Thanks

  • Microphone question

    hi all,
i have a G5 and would like to use the Voice Over feature. I don't have a mixer so I am wondering what people use as a microphone and how it is set up. There looks like a mic input between the USB and Digital port on the back of the G5 but my plantronics mic does not work in there. It plugs in but I can't get a signal. what do others use. thanks

*i don't want to use my camera ...if i do, i may as well record to tape. my deck (dsr 20) does not have an mic plug.*
Not so. You would only be using your camera as a go through to get you into the FCP interface. If you recorded to tape then you would have to log the audio footage after. If you just hook your mic into the camera and firewire it into FCP then your recording goes directly in and is saved in your audio capture scratch folder. Saves much time and you already have the technology. If you have the time and money to get a capture card, all the power to ya, but there is nothing wrong with using what you have. You don't need a tape running to do it this way. Just put the camera in camera mode (as opposed to VCR mode) and leave it. FCP will do the rest.

  • The Microphone question aga

    Aloha!
I have done what was asked and have read most all the post, at least as far back as 30 days ago on the subject of microphone, not being recognized by the system.<SPAN>
First off, I guess I have an old system, because it is a Sound Blaster Li've! Platinum.
I am using Windows XP, so to tell me to do a clean sweep will not work because the CD that can with the system, is not compatible with XP and tells me so, if I attempt to install it, and have held off because of this.<SPAN> I have down loaded everything you have in the down load site.
I have the microphone in, the Mic 2 slot with a stepped up plug in.<SPAN> Like most others, I can hear myself, but if you go to control panel-sounds and audio devices -voice and run the test hardware, there is no reconnection of the microphone.<SPAN>
Like others, it worked for me before service pack 2
I would like to have the microphone working on my PC for video conferencing for business use, freeing up my laptop for presentations.
I hope you have a fix for this by now.<SPAN>

If so plug and unplug the headset in and out of the slot about six times. See if that helps.

  • IPhone Microphone Question

    Hi
Can anybody tell me if the new iPhone4 is better as a phone than previous versions. I have a 3GS and a 3G before that and neither of them are/were that good as a phone.
When I talk to people (especially using speak phone)I end up having to shout to make myself heard, which is a tad embarassing.
It's become a regular thing for people to say "get a new phone I cant hear you" or "call me back on a landline or another phone"
I get the same problem using Bluetooth as well and I have 3 Bluetooth headsets none of which seem to be much better than the other.
I've lived with this pureley because the additinoal functionality out weighs the problems, but it is getting really frustrating.
Anyway, if anyone has any constructive thoughts or feedback that would be good before I confirm my iPhone4 order
    Thanks
    Andy

I was one of the folks who got my 4 in the day before release because I pre-ordered from AT&T on the 15th. Worked flawlessly until 2 days ago when I could no longer hear anything from the ear speaker - it was out. Foolishly took it to the AT&T store where I ordered it, they sent me to the Apple store in Tulsa, OK. No appointment at the Genius Bar but they worked me in after about 20-30 minutes, then replaced it, no problem. Only had to replace my ZAAG clear screen protector - $5. No big deal.
The next day, about 6:30 pm, my wife calls me and after a moment, says she cannot hear me, I switch to speaker and she can. Off speaker, she says she sometimes hears a muted voice like in a tunnel with a lot of static or nothing at all. So I call a couple of other numbers to make sure it's not her phone, and all of them report the same thing.
Back to the Apple store again (a 45 minute drive each way for me) and I get there about 8 pm. First thing the guy at the Genius Bar tells me is that I should have made an appointment. Hello McFly! I just found out about my little problem a little over an hour ago, sorry I wasn't considerate enough to schedule in a second equipment failure on your schedule! Ultimately, they work me in. The employee calls my phone on their landline, and it sounds just fine! What the frak?! He tells me that it must be some kind of network issue - which didn't make sense because it works fine on speaker but not off speaker, but it seems to be working now so I say thanks and leave.
However, being paranoid, I call my wife once I am outside the mall but before driving home, and she says she still cannot hear me unless I'm on speaker, so I call a couple of other different people and they report the exact same thing. So I call my wife back and speak with her on the speaker and walk back into the Apple store and literally once I cross the threshold of the store, she can hear me off speaker again. I walk out, and she cannot hear me.
So, I go back to the Genius Bar... and tell the guy there what's happening and they bring out another guy who tells me that he's heard NOTHING about any network problems and that he would replace the replacement phone.
    But -
They don't have any replacement phones! The other guy says, well, not exactly, what about the retail phones? The first guy shoots him a look like "you weren't supposed to say that" so I ask about it. Apparently, according to them, they have 2 categories of inventory, retail and replacement. The retail phones are for folks who come in and buy one, the replacements are for folks who have had trouble, but so sorry, "the system" doesn't allow for a retail phone to be used as a replacement, and since you ordered your initial phone through AT&T we cannot help you today, but the day after tomorrow we'll have more replacement phones available.
At this point, I let them know how unacceptable the entire situation has become, and they let me speak to a manager who was as surly as I was becoming (GREAT customer service skills there Apple Store in Tulsa!) who was so helpful as to suggest I could drive another 1.5 hours to go to the Apple Store in Oklahoma City to see if they had any inventory!
So basically, nothing could be done at this point, though they offered me a Free case for my trouble (2 failed phones in 48 hours with two 1.5 hour trips plus another hour or so in the store with another trip coming up tomorrow to pick up another phone). I told them I'd just like a phone that works and would last more than a day.
So, in short, tomorrow I'll likely have an operational phone and that will be about the end of it (other than having to replace the ZAAG screen yet again for another 5 bucks), but I come away from the experience with several take home messages...
    1) 2 phone failures? Quality control issue? Especially since they were out of the "replacement" phones but had "retail" phones available. I must not be the only one with issues.
    2) If Apple can make iPads, iPhones, Macs, and a plethora of software, how is it that Apple cannot make an inventory control system that would allow a phone to be taken from the retail to the replacement category? I think the issue was one of two things, neither of which puts Apple in the best light.
    a) The folks at the store were choosing to further inconvenience me
    or (and more likely)
    b) It's a lot more important for Apple to be able to sell a new phone in the store for $600 than it is for them to take care of a customer who has already paid the $300 upgrade for a subsidized phone through AT&T.
I come away from the whole experience disappointed with Apple and I hate to say that because my iPods and my 3G phone have been wonderful devices and I really like the 4 and don't really want to go to another phone. In fact, I have a couple of colleagues (I'm a doctor) who have ordered 4s based on what I have shown them and told them about the iPhones in general and the 4 in particular. I can accept that when you make millions of phones a few bad ones will get though the QA process, but I do feel like I should not have been sent from the store yesterday without a replacement when there were phones in the storeroom mere feet away from where I was standing. Very poor form, and something I'll remember when looking to buy new products in the future.
Apple tries to cultivate this image of being different from the PC guys who treat you with measured indifference (though I have been treated very well by the folks at Sager), but this experience has been discordant with that image they portray and it could have been avoided.
If I felt that there was anyone at Apple who would genuinely care, I'd bother to send an e-mail, but right now, I really don't think that there would be a point.
Update (7/5): Called the Apple Store since they hadn't contacted me as they said they were going to. Found out that (surprise surprise!) no shipments of replacement phones had come in because of the holiday. Maybe tomorrow the issue will finally be resolved....

  • Back up consumes a lot of storage on my mba, how to transfer my back up to external drive

how to transfer my mac  backup to ecternal drive

Good question.  Your backups should be on a different disk than your live data.  If that one disk/SSD should crash then you will lose all your data, including the backup.  So put your backups on external drives.
This page has specific instructions on setting up an external drive as a Time Machine backup.  http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1427

  • More than two audio tracks?

Is it possible on iMovie to have more than two audio tracks? Is there a way I can add more? If so, how?
    Thanks so much,
    -Rachel

At the recommendation of Matthew Morgan and others in this forum, I took about twenty minutes and checked out garage band.
You can click on a movie tab, in which you can import your imovie project. Garage band gives you the option of, at least, 8 simultaneous tracks. You can record from your mic, mind you that's a bit tricky, you'll have to read the garage band manual, but like I said, it only took twenty minutes to configure everything.
Once everything's recorded, you can export to imovie. I didn't try that, but I know it absolutely can be done, and it shouldn't be hard. That will give you 9 tracks at a minimum, plus your video's sound as a 10th. Pretty cool stuff.
FYI, it's not enough to have your mic selected in sound preferences. You'll want to go to Utilities and audio/midi setup and choose your mic AND choose it again in the Properties For tab. Once that's done, go to Preferences in Garage Band, click on audio/midi and choose your mic. Now, you're good to go. (I found this out under an "imic" microphone question in garage band help.) Awesome app.
    Hope this helps.

  • Only getting audio in one ear?

    Hello,
I am a singer/songwriter using adobe with hopes of capturing a live recording of myself singing and playing guitar at the same time. I want to then upload the file to youtube. I have one condensor microphone (Bluebird by blue microphones) hooked up into an interface and when I playback the recording captured I am only hearing audio in my left ear. I am operating on a mac with osx and using adobe premiere elements 11. From what I read, I need to convert the stereo to mono but I don't think this is possible to do on this program. I have read where I need to hit fill left/ fill right but I've been unable to find those features. If anyone knows anything or has any recommendations for how to hear audio in two ears when you have captured in with one microphone then please help!

  • I got my Macbook Pro 17inch (early 2011) back from Apple (they had to replace the logic board) and now my microphone is not working

I got my Macbook Pro 17inch (early 2011) back from Apple (they had to replace the logic board) 3 days ago, I had a terrible experience as the genious who gave me my solid state disk for safekeeping lost my disk's brackets thus I had to wait 2 more hours until they find one after 10 days of waiting for the repair. I noticed some weird sounds, like somehting is moving with the mac 1-2 times, even if I have no mechanical parts other than the fans, but my real issue at the moment is that my microphone is not working. I can see the mic in the System Info however and in Audio Midi Setup. In the Audio Midi Setup I see that the master chanel is turned off and I can't turn in on. Ch 1 and 2 are on full. I also noticed the first seconds after the comp. boots the blue bar goes to the middle in the System Preferences -> Sound -> Input. Any ideas what to do or try? I do not want to go back to the apple store as it is 50 minutes away from here and I need my laptop as a computer science student. Everything else is working perfectly.

You need to call both the store that did the repair and Apple directly, warranty service or Apple care, and report this problem with both of them and get a ticket number of some kind (some kind of verification number) that the unit just came back from major service with this problem and that you want it fixed when you can lose the use of it, which is not right now.
Without doing something like that they could easily say it is damage not covered under the normal warranty.
God knows what the repair center did and did not do to it while it was there.
And depending on when you actually bought it the warranty could run out in the mean time.

  • A question about external microphone called "thumbtacks"

I recently bought one of those small microphone the size of a pin called thumbtacks, is great small and easily comfortable. Those microphones feels like the Itouch has an built-in microphone on it, I tested it on several recording apps works great. I even tried it on shazam and it works like a charm, but I didn't get much luck was on the VoIP apps like skype among others.... I don't know if I was the cause of it not working or because I mistakenly thought it will work on VoIP apps. Everytime that I try using the skype app there appears like an iPhone calls features like mute, speaker, among others button on the screen while on a voip call. I tried pressing the speaker icon but nothing I couldn't hear the other person speaking, they could only hear me. Am I doing something wrong or I might need to return the item?
Thanks to all, and any help I would appreciated it.

    **gentle chiding tone in voice**
Come on--you've been here long enough to know that Christmas weekend means questions aren't always answered in a few hours.
    **more serious tone**
I don't have a thumbtack mic; I'd like one. But my understanding is that they are designed for recording, not VoIP. They don't look like they're engineered for VoIP; you might have better luck with earphones with mic combo.
Blessings to you in the New Year--I'm looking forward to seeing more of your posts!

How can I fix the error message I can't use my microphone at this time when I am trying to respond to the duo lingo questions?

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
