HPLIP: "Syntax error: invalid syntax" installing HP LaserJet 1018

I'm trying to install my HP LaserJet 1018 on my new laptop with fresh arch installation. I have installed Cups and hplip, and now run hp-setup to install the proprietary plugin from HP that will load the firmware to the printer. However, I get an error running hp-setup and so the plugin cannot be installed.
* my printer is plugged in and turned on. In the system log, I can see something is recognized
* I run "hp-setup -i" as root
* Specify that the printer is installed on USB, then proceed to download the plugin. This succeeds
* Then it tries to install the plugin, and that is where it fails, with this message:

(I don't really know how to do proper formatting on this forum, but the ^ indicating where the error is is on the comma , after ImportError)
Does anyone know what is going wrong? It seems to me that there is an error in the plugin_install.py-file which then makes the installer believe that the pygobject and dbus-python are not installed, but they both are. Also, "hp-check -t" shows that all dependencies are there. Can anyone help me?

Delete the /usr/bin/python file which is just a link to /usr/bin/python3
Change to /usr/bin folder
Create a new link, this time pointing to python 2.7
The commands
rm -rf /usr/bin/python
cd /usr/bin
ln -s /usr/bin/python2.7 python

I am a having a jsp page(List.jsp) where i am showing a list of records.
In this page user can select the number of records per page
For this i have provided a combo box from which user can select the no of records per page say 10 ,20 ,25,30.
In this page i also have a functionality for previous and next.
Now my problem is tht , if user selects 10 or 20 records per page everything is fine, but if he selects anything above 24 i.e 25,30 then there is a problem.
The list is displayed then also , but if user selects some new criteria say 10 records/page , then i get a javascript error invalid syntax.
I am getting the list of records in a ArrayList in the servlet and then i am passing this arrayList as a request attribute to the jsp.
Also i am initiliazing my ArrayList as
ArrayList company=new ArrayList();
Can any body tell me about invalid syntax.

Can it be due to no of elements in jsp form ?No. It's due to a bug in your code that manifests yourself when you have that number of elements.

We can shorten our PCD path (currently 427 chars). But Portal is taking this string and making it 5 times longer; this does not seem reasonable to me.
Questions:
1. Can we control how Portal escapes punctuation ( . _ / ) from 1 char into 5 (!252e etc.)? This would save 720 chars.
2. Can we control how Portal duplicates the PCD path 3 times in this scenario? This would save 1406 chars (approx).
Tried enabling "Short URLs" - does not affect this length.
Environment:
- EP6, SP16.
- IE 6.0 on XP, SP2

I think you're stuck. All I can suggest is renaming the ids to shorted the prefixes...
Otherwise, implement a different personalization capability.

No syntax error on syntax check, but syntax error on activation

Hi all,
I have a confusing problem.
I want to default some values on item level of purchase order (ME21N). I added a module call in flow logic of screen 1313 of program SAPLMEGUI. The module itself I added to include LMEVIEWSF01. Here I default some fields of structure MEPO1313. This structure is defined in TOP-include using TABLES.
Before modification I debugged the transaction and found out, that structure MEPO1313 is accessible during PBO. Changes in debugger are shown as expected on screen.
Now, syntax check on LMEVIEWSF01 and even on SAPLMEGUI returns no error. But on activation I get syntax error saying MEPO1313 is not know ??
So, structure MEPO1313 is accessible in debugger, no syntax error on syntax-check, but syntax error on activation ?
What is going on ??

MOF syntax error occurred while installing 2008 SQL server Express on Vista Ultimate

I have tried cleaning, then installing 2008 SQL server Express on Vista Ultimate 3 times and spent hours on this. I have installed regular SQL server on 2003 server with no issues many times, but I have huge issues with 2008 SQL server Express. I keep getting the proceeding errors.
Any ideas?

Similar error (not SQL Express but Enterprise) on my network reveals the following issue (still prevalent after removing and re-adding the machine to the network):
The kerberos client received a KRB_AP_ERR_MODIFIED error from the server host/machinename.domainname.local. The target name used was cifs/MACHINENAME. This indicates that the password used to encrypt the kerberos service ticket is different than that on the target server. Commonly, this is due to identically named machine accounts in the target realm (DOMAINNAME.LOCAL), and the client realm. Please contact your system administrator.
ALSO: The session setup from the computer MACHINENAME failed to authenticate. The name(s) of the account(s) referenced in the security database is MACHINENAME$. The following error occurred: Access is denied.
This default instance (Ent SQL 2008 on Ent Server 64 bit 2003 R2 SP2) failed with the MOF error using a service account to install SQL 2008. Repair does not work.   "The SQL Server feature 'SQL_Engine_Core_Inst' is not in a supported state for repair, as it was never successfully configured. Only features from successful installations can be repaired. To continue, remove the specified SQL Server feature."
I expected to have more luck with the information here: http://mark.michaelis.net/Blog/CategoryView.aspx?category=.Net but wound up with result seen in my next post.
Of note, tried the removal of leftover registry entries after a failed install as in link above, also removed sql folders prior to re-install. Error is the same and rather than list entire log here, there is a portion available below but as is evident, there is a permission error in the registry which verifies what mark michaelis has pointed out:

I've done everything but I can't installed 1018 LaserJet on my system..
I even install python2 and changed the syntax of hp-setup script from
/usr/bin/env python
to
/usr/bin/enc python2
... It still doesn't works.. gives me following error

I tried to install the foo2zjs driver, but it failed to compile saying that dc is missing, install dc.. Can you tell me which dc is it referring to?
I'm really tired to boot Windows everytime I want to print anything..

use foo2zjs in aur. Sometimes the formware doesnt get uploaded to the printer correctly (via an udev rule) so use this "cat /usr/share/foo2zjs/firmware/sihp1018.dl > /dev/usb/lp0"

Installing Hp Laserjet 1018 on Ubuntu 13.10

Hplip can't see my printer, but lsusb can what can I do to get it to be found manually? I can not discover what to enter in the manual discovery options and what format to enter them in.

Problems installing HP LaserJet 1018 printer on new MacBook Pro

Hi all,
I just entered the wonderful world of Mac and I am really enjoying it. Too bad I waited so long. However, I have a problem installing my printer, an HP LaserJet 1018 printer, on my new MacBook Pro intel based computer. I checked at HP's website and it says that the printer is not supported for the Mac environment. Could there be other possibilities with drivers to download or should I buy a new printer?

When the manufacturer says they don't support something, it's generally best to stay away from it.
There's almost always 3 ways to do any 1 thing, but you may need you printer to do more than 1 thing and therefore you're going to have issues with all the other things.
Printing to a printer sounds like 1 thing, but it's not.
It's many things working together to get ink on paper.
My advise is get a supported printer and live without a headache.

Installing HP LaserJet 1018 HOW LONG on line?

Have an HP LaserJet 1018 and a new computer that has Windows 7 on it. The old ones had MicrosoftXP. I love my printer but it wouldn't load. Tried the web site to install the driver, but it has been installing for 2 hrs. now. Should I stop and try again?

FindServerBehaviors in DynAttribute.htm ... Syntax error Invalid quantifier ??

I get this error: While executing findServerBehaviors in
DynAttribute.htm the following JavaScript errors occured:

I get this sort of thing from time to time when I handwrite
php / mysql code and DW8 can't digest it for some reason. My files
always work fine on the server, but DW8 (and MX, MX2004) seem to
get confused by things that don't fit in its idea of how recordsets
and queries work.
I have NO EXTENSIONS installed, and have already reinstalled
this once in the past to no avail.
It's just annoying, as I can hand code fine and just click
"OK" about the error, but it happens every time DW changes from
codeview to design view, or upon opening the doc, or saving it.
Any ideas?
BTW, I really wish Adobe / MM would give us a way to disable
these warnings (i.e., "do not show this message again...) for a
given file. Maybe it could be in the file notes? Are you listening,
Adobe? Probably not...

From your description I assume that you are using "group_connect" JCO connection and it is used for SAP system with Message Server (Load balancing)
I believe that you have selected right JCO connection type as per your environment.
About your error hostname:${https.port.core.isa.sap.com} you can find solution in XCM.
Go to General Application Setting --> Customer --> b2b --> b2bconfig on right side look for "SSLEnabled" parameter. Now click on "Edit" button on top right to edit XCM configuration. Change value to "False" for "SSLEnabled" parameter. Now click on "Save Configuration" and restart your application.
You will not get the error which you are getting right now.
Your "SSLEnabled" parameter has "True" value right now and this is the main reason for your current error change it to "False" it solve your error.

I don't have EPM installed here but based on this Table User Defined Functions( Table UDF ) in HANA you are not properly defining the source table.

Syntax error when adding variables in recordset (query)

Hi I am receiving a syntax error: invalid quantifier ++ $orderNum;s*?> when adding two variables in the recordset (query) dialog box. I get the error when clicking OK.
Here is what is entered:
name: fieldname
type: text
default: -1
runtime value: $_GET['Field']
name: searchvalue
type:text
default: -1
runtime value: $_GET['Search']
Can anyone help with this?

That's a completely separate issue. The error message is telling you that you have not defined the testing server correctly in the Site Definition dialog box.
The Host directory field and URL prefix should both point to the same place, in other words, the root of your website. Host directory is the physical path, while URL prefix is the address you would put in a browser address bar.
Select Site > Manage Sites. Select the name of the site, and click the Edit button. In the Site Definition dialog box, select the Advanced tab, and then choose Testing server from the Category list on the left.
Depending on how your remote login works, Host directory should probably be public_html or just /. Use the same value as in the Remote server part of the Site Definition dialog box. The URL prefix should be http://gaylehansen.aisites.com/.

Forms9i browser problem(Invalid Syntax)

when ever i am running a form in browser there is a error Invalid syntax error
and a string in browser is (http://%%20"http://P4-0055MH:8888/forms90/f90servlet?form=G:\FAMCTZRN.fmx&userid=STQC/STQC@impl&buffer_records=NO&debug_messages=NO&array=YES&query_only=NO&quiet=NO&RENDER=YES")
Initially a (http://%%20") is added while running every form so i have to remove that much part a run the form then in runs(http://P4-0055MH:8888/forms90/f90servlet?form=G:\FAMCTZRN.fmx&userid=STQC/STQC@impl&buffer_records=NO&debug_messages=NO&array=YES&query_only=NO&quiet=NO&RENDER=YES")
i have check the edit-preferences and done the setting as (http://P4-0055MH:8888/forms90/f90servlet) but the problem persists
so plese tell me where is the problem (checked (http://%%20") in all files formsweb.config but not found
in any one have solution please tell

PURPOSE
When you try to run the Forms using the 9iDS in the new installation :
http://%%20 gets prefixed to URL, when forms is run from Builder
SCOPE & APPLICATION
Here what needs to be done:
Workaround 1
===============
1. Exit the Builder and OC4J
2. Open cauprefs.ora (located in the Oracle Home root directory)
3. Locate the lines labeled "Forms.html ..."
4. Make your changes here. Any values you do not want displayed in the
Builder replace with (). Example below.
5. Save the file and restart the Builder
Example of a correct cauprefs.ora entry
Forms.html = "http://myMachine:8888/forms90/f90servlet"
Forms.html1 = ()
Forms.html2 = ()
Forms.html3 = ()
Forms.html4 = ()
Forms.html5 = ()
The machine.domain name should NOT contain spaces. This is poor naming
practice regardless of the use of Forms.

Set Web Browser (i.e, C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE) .

%20 is the escape for blank. Maybe you have a blank character in the
runtime settings.
