  • ESS/MSS in ECC 6.0 are Abap or Java WebDynpro ?

    Hi ,
We are on ECC5.0 and have ESS/MSS on Java WebDynpro . For ECC6.0 are ESS/MSS in ECC 6.0 are Abap or Java WebDynpro compoment ?
Any watch out when updrading from ECC5.0 to  ECC6.0  ?
    Thank you .

in ECC 6.0, ESS/MSS are WebDynpro Java calling ABAP backend function modules. However, be careful, there is a switch that enables SOME ESS services as ABAP WebDynpro (Especially in the Travel management area). Unless you use that switch all services are WebDynpro Java.
when upgrading from ECC5.0 to ECC 6.0 you need to test again all ESS/MSS services. In ECC5.0, services are written as Portal iViews, so customizations you made to ESS in ECC5.0 may be lost.
let me know if you still have questions.

  • New ESS/MSS in ABAP web dynpro??

I heard from a somebody that the new ESS/MSS is going to be redeveloped by SAP on ABAP Web dynpro instead of java? Does anybody have info on this? or any links on articles, news etc.?

You need to replace the T&E portal content and Homepage Framework config (if using it) for the "older" Webdynpro Java version with the newer (EhP2) Webdynpro ABAP version. There is a very good step-by-step guide (I believe in Service Marketplace) that guides you through each and every change to make to switch one with the other. To your immediate questions...
    (1) Those are the replacements for the WDJ iViews. They are pretty much the same. As said, you need to "switch them out".
    (2) Switch out the WDJ iView with  the WDA iView. The parameter needs to reflect YOUR ESS ROLE pcd path to the object. (the one you show is the standard SAP ESS role....which is fine if you are just using it as is).
Again, best to find that guide. I used it on my last project and it took all of maybe 30 min. to switch the old for new if you follow it.
Also, read all the help.sap.com info on it....

  • What is the role of an ABAPer in ESS/MSS applications???

    Hi all,
I am new to this area and if someone can explain the role of ABAPer in ESS/MSS implementation that would be helpful to me, also mail any documents pertaining to these concepts to mail id :
    Your help will be rewarded.
    Regards
    Jerry

    Hi,
The Role of the ABAP er in ESS/MSS would depends on the type of application we are developing
Basically the responsibilities would be to develop
The Back end coding like creating classes , methods, and Transfering data from objects to XSLT/XML
If we are using BSP pages for the portal then the central class will be assigned as controller class and the related coding will be done in the methods of the class.

  • Integration of webdynpro abap custom iview into standard ESS/MSS portal

    Hello all,
Could anybody please throw light on how to integrate custom iview which is developed in Webdynpro ABAP into standard tab in MSS (Webdynpro java)
For example.I want to add few custom fields(which are mapped to infotype 0041) into general information link of MSS.these fields will be created in webdynpro abap.
    or.
I want to create a new link under general information which pops up as a custom iview (which is create in webdynpro abap) .
please let me know how can i meet the above requirements.
    Thanks in advance.

I am not really sure about your requirement. With my limited understanding of that , i think that you have few possibilities.
    1. You can let the ess/mss application communicate with WDA application via a Poral event.
    2. You can enhance the ESS WDJ component and use RFC destination to get the data from info type and build your own view in WDJ.

  • ESS/MSS sso configure between java and abap instance

    Dear Gurus,
I want to configure sso between java and abap instance for ESS/MSS. I couldnt find any guide for it, could you please help me gurus ?
Other question is, is there any specific role for ESS/MSS users in JAVA instance. I want to create users and assign this role to them.
    Best Regards

    Hi Kemal,
    Hope you are doing good.
There should be a / in the ITS path before SAP.
Basically the entry that you have mentioned here should be accessible via browser as well. For eg in your case:
http://<its hist name>/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui should be accessible over browser.
I also think you have put in a extra space in "w  ebgui". It should be "webgui".
If the connector settings are working, then we can be sure that system connection is fine. You do not need to configure ITS settings.
Also for SSO, refer the SAP note:1083421 and configure the SS0 settings again.
Please run the SSO2 wizard and then make the automatic connection to
the abap server. This will solve any inconsistencies on the server
    due to manual interventions.
Most likely reason for the error is that certificates were loaded
manually rather than using SSO wizard.
    More help:
    <http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/EP/Troubleshooting+SSO+between+AS-ABAP+and+AS-JAVA>
The SSO enabling parameters should be set on the R/3 server.
    SSO Logon Ticket-> login/accept_sso2_ticket and login/create_sso2_ticket

  • ESS/MSS custom services or modify standard service with WebDynpro Abap

    Hi all,
what's the procedure to modify standard ESS/MSS or create new service with WebDynpro Abap.
    Thanks.
    Miki

    Hi
First, The ISR Scenarios are not for iviews. They are just a part of a view. We can use webdynpro ABAP with the ISR Scenarios. We need to embed these forms into our webdynpro ABAP views and code accorsdigly to get the data. There are some standard components that are provided by SAP to handle ISR Forms with Webdynpro. Check these.

    Srikanth.

  • ESS/MSS : analyse service code Abap/Java

    Hi all,
where I can analyse the code of WebDynpro Java and Abap for ESS/MSS services?
    Best regards.
    Miki

    hello Miki
You need to identify technical details of the application which you intended to modify.
After identifying the component whether WDJ or WDA.
If you are customizing the code of standard components when you upgrade latest pacakges your customization code will be over Written.
To analyze the code if it is WDJ you should have NWDI Tracks installaed deployed the code. After NWDI ready import Tracks into the NWDS download the projects which ever you want.
To analyze the code if it is WDA go to se80 open WD Component based on your technical details.
Hope above points will give some information to u.

  • ESS/MSS With Web dynpro ABAP.

    Hi Gurus,

  • NetWeaver Portal and ERP 6.0: BI, ESS/MSS and full Portal on one machine

    Hello,
with ERP 6.0 you need a EP Core Portal for BI Java. An other EP Core Portal for HCM ECC/MSS. The iViews from this portal you integrate in the main portal via federated portal. But in this scenario i need to much portals and have a lot of maintenance costs (administration overhead for evry portal). For a small Customer i will build one Portal for all. It is possible e.g. to use the BI Portal with ESS/MSS and as full portal?
    Best regards,
    Patrick

    Hi,
So you would like one BI installation with both the ABAP and the Java-stack with the full BI-functionallity and additionally the XSS-component and set it up to work against the ECC ABAP-only system ?
I think the scenario would actually work, but:
    1) You might get future problems if you want to upgrade your BI-system and not the ECC-system.
Is it possible to run the old XSS-components in the new java-stack ?
    2) You might get future problems if you want to upgrade your ECC-system and not the BI-system.
What if the new version of the XSS-component demands certain java-components which the BI-system do not have.
So my recommendation is still to run the java-stack on both systems.
ECC with the XSS-java-components and BI with the Bi-java-components.
This way you do not lock yourself into a corner and each system can be upgrade independent of the other.

  • Documents needed for ESS/MSS configuration

  • Where Web Dynpro Java version of Adobe Forms are used in ESS MSS

    Hi, SDN Expert.
I am working on research the use of Adobe Interactive Forms in the current processes of HCM ESS MSS.
We are on ECC5.0, EP7.0, and ESS MSS SP21. We are in the midst of upgrading to ECC6.0.
Do you know where Web Dynpro  Java version of Adobe Forms are used in ESS MSS are used? OR are they all in Web DYnpro ABAP version in ECC6.0?
    Thanks,
    KC

  • ESS / MSS Configuration - Pre-requisites

    Hi,
We are planning to implement portal functions like ESS, MSS, e-recruitment and other features present in EHP 7 (ECC 6.0) during up gradation.
In this regard, I would like to know what are the system prerequisites that needs to be taken care of for a successful implementation.
    Kind regards

  • Upgrading to EHP 4.0 - Have few queries on ESS/MSS, Erecruitment.

    Hi,
We are trying to upgrade our portal to EHP 5.0. We have ESS/MSS and few webdynpro java and webdynpro abap applications on the portal. These are the few queries I have
    1) ESS services : employee search, personal data, LMS(Webdynpro Java) are on EHP 3 as of now. Will the applications remain the same even if we upgrade to  EHP5?
    2) ESS travel management(Webdynpro ABAP) are on EHP 2 as of now. Will this application remain the same even if we upgrade to EHP 5?
    3) E Recruitment (BSP) is on EHP 3 Will this application remain the same even if we upgrade to EHP 5?
    4) We have MSS services: ERec Manager and Appraisal. Will these services affect if we upgrade to EHP 5?
    4) We have few custom applications in Webdynpro abap and webdypro java developed on portal. Will these effect if we upgrade to EHP 5?
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Priyanka.

    Hi Eric,
    Thanks for your prompt reply.
Can you let me know which version of ESS/MSS and E-Recruitment business packages are applicable for the above version? And are these versions of ESS/MSS available in market now? Otherwise we can suggest our client to go for a upgrade to EHP 4.
    Appreciate your input.
    Regards,
    Priyanka
