HT1212 The Ipod is telling me to connect it to iTunes, but i can't because I don't know the passcode to it anymore.
This Ipod wasn't mine before. It use to belong to a cousin of mine, but she had gotten a new one and gave me this one. She had forgetten ger passcode and we kept trying it until it told us to connect it to iTunes. Now, this isn't the same computer she had set it up on. So, I can't dp anything.

When I got my ipod I made an account with iTunes right from my ipod.Yesterday, I made a password lock to get into my ipod and I couldn't get into it even though I did the correct one. Now it says"connect to iTunes" BUT I can't because I never registered on the computer. I've tried holding the home and sleep/wake button for 10 sec and then only the home for 5sec and that might have reset it, but it didn't help. If any of you guys know what to do so I can unlock it I would appreciate it VERY much.
If you haven't done so install iTunes on your computer. http://www.apple.com/itunes/

My iPod touch tells me to connect it to iTunes, but iTunes tells me to write the 4 digit code on the iPod. Problem is that the iPod only shows an image of the iTunes logo, and I can't write the code anywhere.
The link is not really broken. I get:
"Due to a scheduled upgrade of Apple's support systems, some features of the website are currently unavailable. We apologize for any inconvenience."
What happens when you try to restore the iPod via iTunes? Error messages? -

My ipod(ipod touch 3rd generation) is telling me to plug it into itunes but when i did that my computer said i needed to type my passcode into my ipod before i could do anything, but i cant go to any screen other then the one it is showing me (the one saying to plug it into itunes), i tried turning it off and then back on and it didnt do anything! also i just downloaded itunes to this computer so it doesn't have any music or anything on it that is on my ipod so i cant just wipe out my ipod. please help me! i use my ipod for everything!!!
it is telling me to plug it into iTunes and when I dont iTunes tells me to put in my passcode
That makes no sense. Are you plugging it into iTunes or not?
...phone still tells my to connect it to iTunes and even if I knew my passcode I still couldn't type it in.
If you even knew your passcode why couldn't you type it in?
Please try again: tell us the problem, what you try, and what the result is. -
My Ipod wasn't working for awhile, but now I got it on again. I have it plugged in my computer and Itunes is telling me that I have too put my password in so they can connect to my Ipod, but my Ipod won't come off the screen telling me too connect to Itunes. I'm stuck and I don't know what to do. Please help me.
This means you will need to put the device into a Forced Recovery Mode in order to restore the device. You can do this by connecting the device to your computer, holding the Home & Power buttons together until the device restarts with an Apple Logo, once you see this logo pop up remove your finger from the Power Button continuing to hold down the Home Button. You should then see a prompt within iTunes stating that it has detected a Device in Recovery Mode. Proceed through the restore prompts and it should be ok to use again.

I have just bought the new i touch and synced my songs from my itunes to the itouch. However, the songs appear on my ipod when it is connected to the itunes but aren't actually on my ipod.
What should I do?
ThanksHi Hirra,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you've synced your iPod touch with iTunes, but the music doesn't appear on the device, you may want to try setting up syncing in iTunes again by following the steps in the right article below. If you're syncing music, try un-checking and then re-checking the "Sync music" checkbox in iTunes.

Try here. Start with the one the best fits your symptoms.
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
iPod not recognized in 'My Computer' and in iTunes for Windows
iPod: Does not appear in Windows or iTunes and Device Manager is empty -
okay, heres the story,i have an ipod touch 2nd generation, two months ago i dropped it in water,up until now it didnt work, for some reason it does now, problem is,my ipod tells me that i have to connect it to itunes for it to work ( i cant do anything with it,when i power it up it shows the power cord going into the itunes logo, thats all it does),but when i connect it,itunes tells me that i have to remove the password i had on it before i dropped it into water, but again i cant go in my ipod to remove it,so i was wondering if theres a chance that i can take my password off by another way then my ipod? if anybody has a solution it would be really helpfull thanks
Try placing the iPod in recovery mode and then restoring the iPod via iTunes. Fior recovery mode see:

HT1212 My ipod is disabled and is connected to my computer but will not connect with itunes
My ipod has been disabled and will not connect to Itunes
Are you still holding the home button when you plug it in or do you let go?
You want to make sure that you turn it off, hold the home button and plug it into the computer BUT do not let go of the home button. Keep holding the home button until you get the itunes symbol and the cable on the iPod. -

Just brought a new ipod touch 5th gen, and when i connect it with my cable on my windows 8 hp laptop it will recognise it on my laptop in my computer but it won't connect with itunes. I have the latest version of itunes, and have tried reinstalling it three times, along with following the apple help sections but nothing has worked. It connects on other mac, and pc's itunes however and believe it is a problem with windows 8. Anyone having this problem or know how to help? thanks
If you mean playing music from your computer's speakers that that work if you computer can act as a bluetooth receiver (like BT speakers and headphones) since the iPod can transmit music using the A2DP BT profile.
On the iPod go to Settings>General>Reset> Reset Network Settings and try again. You will also have to rejoin all wifi networks
