HT1267 Fails to ring

My I Phone 4 only vibrates, will not ring. Speakers do work.

Check the mute switch on the side of your iPhone.  If you see a red bar, the iphone is muted, unless you set the switch to lock the orientation.

  • Alarm clock Fails to ring

There is an annoying bug with the Nano alarm clock whereby it fails to ring, and I hope there is a fix for it.
I get this behaviour mostly by doing the following:
Set a recurring alarm to say 7
After midnight on the date of the alarm and before it is due to ring, change the alarm time to one hour earlier.
result is that the alarm fails to ring.
This is a 5th gen Nano. Any fixes out there?

thx, but it has external speakers though it is hooked up to a Bose system overnight.
The alarm does work the mojority of the time, but in some situations (such as outlined above) does not

  • Phone fails to ring

Within the last 10 days my family and friends have been complaining that I do not answer their calls. But I have not heard my phone ring to announce an incoming call.
I have tested my line using the BT website which reports no fault found. I have tested the handset which rings. I can dial out, no problem. But when anyone calls me the phone does not ring.
Thinking maybe the phone was at fault I purchased a new one. Having set this up I found that it displayed the same fault. No ring on incoming calls.
This is very frustrating for all concerned.

Keith, could it be that the capacitor in the master socket has blown? If so maybe something I could replace?
The capacitor is not used with modern phones, as they simply ring using the normal A and B wires. (2&5)
Its a legacy component, but it is still used as part of the automatic line test, to indicate that there is an NTE connected.
Failure of the ringing circuit in the exchange line card, is a very common occurance, owing to the age of the equipment in the exchanges.
I am sure that BT will sort it out, assuming that you have reported it?

  • Skype doesn't ring

    LG Optimus L9ii (D605), Android 4.4.2 , Skype 5.3.0.65524
I'm always online, and the Skype icon in the status bar shows exactly that. Also, people tell me that I'm shown as available. However, I rarely receive Skype calls. People tell me that I don't answer. I get a missed call notification about a day later.  This has been an issue for almost two years. When do you plan to fix this?
Partial fix: I switched from Dalvik to ART - I get about 25% chance now that skype will actually ring. i raised that percentage by additional 5% by modifying number of background processes (limit to 4).
I'm pissed because my friend's noname 80$ phone (2LooK 2Fon) with modded Android (equivalent to Jelly Bean) it came with, handles official Play Store Skype app perfectly (never fails to ring, on both wify and mobile data).
What should I do to keep Skype App ALIVE at all times?

    Hi,
As this is a Skype for Xbox One forum, I'd check two things first:
    1. Open Skype on Xbox One, hit Menu button to open Settings. Make sure notifications are turned on there.
    2. When at your Xbox One home screen, hit menu button and go to Settings > Preferences. Make sure notifications are turned on.

  • SGE2010P ring of 4 switches reports one "link down"

Any help appreciated. I called Cisco Support but they didn't have an answer.
We have 4 SGE2010P switches in a ring using ports 24 and 48 to connect. All are same hardware and firmware and the stack is working nicely.
Problem is - System - System Management - Stack Management page of web interface shows one link in the ring down yet it does not appear to be down. If we pull a cable from one of the other links then this "down" link is magically back.
    Two questions:
    1. Is the switch purposely breaking the chain to avoid a loop condition? If so, does that mean a 1-2-3-4 ring requires switch 1 to go the long path through 2 and 3 to communicate with 4?
    2. Even if all is working as a ring and this is just a status reporting error, we have a problem in that one link failure cannot be detected since it shows down even when it isn't. That is bad for remote management and I cannot see any way to determine status of all 4 links shorts of visiting all switches and physically eyeing the ports in question.
    Any insights appreciated.
    Thanks.
    John,

    Hi John
With this stack, you haven't had to worry about spanning tree, the stack takes care of making sure that a broadcast storm isn't created by a loop, one of the interfaces becomes inactive. But if you had a real interface failure or a stacking port was to fail, the ring topology would still allow all switches in the stack  to still  be connected.
    Well stacking becomes convenient for a few situations;
reduce the number of infrastructure IP hosts that need managing on your network
Allowing for Link Aggregation from servers to multiple switches in a stack.
    You always have the option for;
taking the switches out of stack mode
    running Link Aggregation with RSTP as per the rough diagram below;
The better more proactive solution  is to use a ONPLUS appliance, which will proactively inform you when there is a problem on your end user network.
ONPLUS is more than just a cloud based service, there are alot of benefits of this appliance in fascilitating a pro-active support for your end user.
We produced p/n ON100-K9 appliance  to allow our partners to provide a more proactive professional services enviironment for their customers .  Even though my personal network can stand a failure, I utilize a ON100-K9 unit for demonstration purposes .
Because I use my network for experiments and it may change daily, the onplus appliance (p/n ON100-K9) send me quite often emails warning me of changes via the cisco cloud based service.  Here is an example below of a warning i receive via email.

  • "FaceTime failed" cannot receive or make calls

I'm on a 2010 MacBook pro and whenever I try to make facetime calls, it immediately says "FaceTime failed" without ringing or anything for all of my contacts. When I receive a call, it rings but it has the same message when I try to accept the call. I've tried everything on the support page and have even changed my DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. I also tested it out while tethered to my iphone's LTE and it had the same problem, which rules out network problems.

    Hi,
There are many threads here that report people have taken their Mac to an Apple Store and have had the Serial Number "replaced".
However in those cases the Mother or Logic Board had been replaced in  a Repair or Refurbishment.
To Reinstall an earlier version of the OS by using the DVD Install disks you would have to Insert them then Boot the Mac from that Disk.
Then you would have to open Disk Utility from the Menu bar and Erase the current OS and other contents before you could run the actual Install.
This does lose everything on that Drive so it is best to create a Back up First.
I am not sure what else to suggest.

  • How do I get an iongoing fault dealt with?

I'm dealing with this on behalf of my sister who is being stressed out by the problems with her phine and trying to get BT/OpenReach to deal with it.
My sister's phone developed a fault in 2011 since which time it has had a intermittent fault the symptons of which have varied. Sometimes she can't make or receive calls - at other times she can make but not receive calls and at other times the line is so crackly that the phone is unusable.
Each time a fault has been reported and in the time it has taken for an engineer to visit the phone has started working again and an engineer states that as the phone is working nothing can be done!
On the first visit the fault was blamed on my sister's phone equipment so we bought new phone - the fault reoccured and my sister plugged a wired phone into the phone input socket where the line comes into the house and the fault was still apparent.
Since 2011 we have lost count of the number of times an engineer has been called out and been unable to help due to the 'intermittent' nature of the fault. One engineer did investigate further and found some corroded wiring at a nearby outside junction box we he rectified and we thought this would solve the problem
A few weeks ago we found that my sister couldn't receive calls - when I rang her the phone rang once and either went dead or I was told there was a fault on the line. We called an engineer who did his usual tests and siadthe line was fine. My sister asked him to ring here phone which he did letting the phone ring once before hanging up. My sister explained that he needed to let the phone ring but he wouldn't listen and aooarently reported the fault as fixed.
I rand the 150 number as soon as my sister emailed me to tell me what had happened and I asked the person on the helpdesk to ring my sister's number himself. The phone rang once and cut out! I asked him if he thought the fault had been repaired and so he reported the fault again to OpenReach who said would have to put the report back into their system and a visit was arranged for the Tuesday after the May Bank Holiday.  WE waited for a call on Tuesday to arrange a time for the visit and when no call was forthcoming I rang 150 again to be told that a visit would be made on the Wednesday morning.
I travelled to my sister's to wait for the engineer and when no-one showed up rang 150 again to be told that openReach said the report hadn't appeared on their system.  BY this time my complaint had been raised to manager level having already dealt with 3 different supervisors who had failed to ring me back as promised on several occasions.
Again I was told that a report had to be put through the system and the earliest visit would be Friday of that week. Unfortunately I was unable to be at my sister's on that day so a visit was arranged for today Monday 13 between 8:00 and 13:00. Again I set off from home 10 miles away to wait for an engineer. By 13:00 no engineer had visited so I called 150 again to speak to the manager that I had been dealing with. I was promised a call back withing 30 minutes.
Whilst I was waiting my sister's phone rang - it had started working again after over a fortnight of her not being able to receive calls at all and on occasion not make them either. After an hour my call to 150 was returned by the manager who told me the OpenReach hadn't visited as the report hadn't appeared on their system - the second time we had been given this reason in less than a week. The manager said he would raise a fault and get someone to come out on Wednesday but I told him that now after a fortnights downtime the phone was working again and that they had lost the window of opportunity for diagnosing the fault and we would be back on the spiral of reporting a fault - being given an engineer's appointment at  which if the engineer turned up he would tell us that the phone was now working and no fault could be detected so nothing could be done! Over the last few days we have wasted three half days and in my case 3 wasted return journeys of 10 miles each way during the rush hour to wait for a non existent engineer. Not to mention hours spent on the phone repeating the same things and listening to the same excuses and promises that were never kept.
This caused considerable problems as my sister has health issues that mean I need to know I can be in regular contact with her. She has a mobile phone but as it is a pay and go it is used for emergencies only and on one occasion she had accidentally left her phone upstairs. Unfortunately this was at a time that I needed to contact her urgently and her phone at this point wasn't even ringing once to register an incoming call (she was ringing me whenever the phone rang once to check whether I was trying to get through). I was over an hour's travel time away and just couldn't raise her which caused me much anxiety.
As I said my sister has health issues and feels very vulnerable without a reliable phone and for my part I worry that if my sister needs help she will not be able to contact me. Already I headed off to chack on het when I have been unable to raise her by phone.
Can anyone suggest how we are ever going to get out of this impasse? WE would change phone providers but it would appear that even if we do OpenReach would still be responsible for maintaining the line so we would have the same problem.
To be honest it feels as though due to our complaining OpenReach have blacklisted us and are avoiding visiting - maybe we are being paranoid but this is how it feels.
I did try to fill in the Customer Care form but it appears that I needed to have started a thread here before I could do so.

  • Looking for a simple answer ........ without the ...

looking for a simple answer  ........why is it more difficult for skype to connect than before . It fails to ring most times and your never sure if it is just slow or did not dial in the first place???  and is there any way to disable the leave a message feature ??? I am afraid soon it will be like most wondows applications where you will need endless updates and patches just to keep it running ..... Why is it that everyone is trying to fix everthing when it isnt broken.

WTF? I'm sure you can find plenty of examples on google. It's on you to take the time to go through them, study them, and, if you still don't understand something, post a clear, concrete question that indicates what you read and what you didn't understand about it.
As is, you're essentially treating folks here as your research flunkies and saying, "Give me an example that's better than all the ones already easily available to me. Read my mind to know why I didn't like them."

  • MIssed calls

Over the past several weeks, I've missed several important business calls on my iPhone 3G. I'm often sitting next the phone and it fails to ring. The caller goes to voicemail. I know that AT&T's service is wholly unreliable these days, but this problem has really started happening since I upgraded to the 3.1 software. Thus, I'm not sure which company is to blame. Although, the 20 minute delay in receiving the voicemail is clearly AT&T's fault.

I've had the same issue over the past couple of weeks (iphone 3G 16G, software version 3.1.2).
After my wife being furious about missing her calls multiple times, I called the AT&T customer support today, and they directed me to the AT&T tech support.
We went thru the process of turning the phone off and back-on a few times, while they did something on their end. In the end, the tech support person said that the incoming calls were bouncing off the towers and giving up reaching the phone because I was off of the incoming VLR system(?) or something like that. So he put me back on this system and re-registered myself again.
The tech support person also said that I should turn off my iphone 3G completely every other day.
I'm not sure if this has fixed my problem, but perhaps better than doing nothing. So I recommend you to call the AT&T customer support and discuss it with the tech support like I did.
    -Cheers,

  • What exactly will I be missing if I set up my iPhone as new?

....as opposed to restoring from a backup?
Explanation: about 3 iPhones & 2 years ago I jailbroke my iPhone and installed stuff, changed stuff, etc. Since then I have always restored my backups, never set it up as new. There are 2 issues which have propagated all backups since then (I assume these were caused by something I did while jailbroken) - it fails to ring about 50% of the time when someone calls (i.e. as if it's on Silent), and I can't save or bookmark in Maps (or clear the old saves that are in there)

  • Alarm not working correctly

I am having the same problem. I set my alarm for 6:30pm on 12-31-2010 and it failed to ring. I did not think much about this and I set another alarm for 1:15am on 01-01-2011 and it sounded. I set another alarm for 01-02-2011 at 5:15am and one for 5:25am and neither one of the alarms sounded and I was late for work. I also tried setting the recurring days and it worked but I never had to do this before this. I have relied on my phones alarms for almost 12 years and I hope that I do not have to revert back to an alarm clock. Help

Apple has told Engadget that it is aware of the iPhone alarm glitch. "We're aware of an issue related to non repeating alarms set for January 1 or 2. Customers can set recurring alarms for those dates and all alarms will work properly beginning January 3," the Apple spokesperson said.

  • Hunt Pilot / Pickup Group

I have a scenario that is giving me a problem with pickup groups and I need some assistance. I have 3 extensions (1410, 1411 & 1412) that are part of a pickup group. That pickup group works fine. However, we have an after hours line group with a hunt pilot of 1420 that rings phones 1410 & 1600(broadcast). When a call goes to 1420 it rings 1410 & 1600 just fine but users at 1411 & 1412 cannot pick up the call ringing on 1410. Says call is not available. Is there a different way to set that up so it can pick up that line? I thought maybe adding 1420 to the pickup group but that does not appear to be an option. We are running CM 5.1.
