I have a macbook and I keep pressing software update and my computer version 10.5.8 and it says there are no updates anything I can do?

10.5.8 is the last release for OS X 10.5.
If you want to upgrade your operating system, you have to buy it, and it's not available via download. The next upgrade for you would be to OS X Snow Leopard 10.6. In the US, call the Apple online store at 800-MY-APPLE and order 10.6 from the legacy products list. They will send you a DVD, which you can install, then use Software Update to get to the last release of 10.6.8.
If you want to upgrade further, and your sytsem will support it, you can call the Apple online store again to buy Lion or you can connect to the App Store to buy and download Mountain Lion. If your system will support Lion or ML, you probably should have 4GB of memory for reasonable performance.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can purchase Lion from the Mac App Store. You will need to meet the requirements for Lion, but the Mac App Store will tell you whether your Mac is capable of running Lion or not.

  • Just started to update my phone to iSo5 when wireless connection was lost on my laptop, I can't get it back and it says there are no networks available-router is working fine, am using it on my iPhone now. Help!

I just updated itunes and started to update my phone to iSo5 when wireless connection was lost on my laptop, I can't get it back and it says there are no networks available-router is working fine, am using it on my iPhone now. Help!

Reboot your router. You by chance dont have a netgear N300 WNR2000 router do you? I had one of those and would lose wifi on it constantly, Switched to a Cisco wifi router and it works much better.

  • My macbook pro needs to be updated but when going to the software update it says there are no updates. its incredibly behind.

my macknook pro is incredibly behind in updates. however when selecting software update it says there are no updates. i can't do much with it due to nothing running on the software i have currently.

To get to the next release of OS X, which is Snow Leopard 10.6, you must purchase the install DVD for it from Apple.
This is the next required upgrade from 10.5. Once you get there then you can consider upgrading to newer version if your MBP will support them.

Upgrade the computer’s OS, or switch to a product such as Firefox.
To upgrade, open the Mac App Store and try downloading Yosemite. If you get told it's incompatible, choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, check if the computer has at least a Xeon or Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) CPU and 2GB of RAM, and if it does, click here and order a download code for Lion 10.7.
Back up your data and check your applications for compatibility before upgrading. In particular, Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC programs such as versions of Microsoft Office prior to 2008.

  • When I try opening iPhoto on my iMac (OSX 10.9.2) it says I must first update the application; when I try doing so from the App store, it says there are no updates available. I have not renamed or moved iPhoto which was preinstalled. How to solve?

When I try opening iPhoto on my iMac (OSX 10.9.2) it says I must first download the update; when I try doing so from the App store, it says there are no updates available.  Stuck in a classis Catch-22 - any ideas how I might solve the problem?

Thanks a lot for your swift response. And sorry if it was a bit too hectic to go through my detailed query (which I did because it was misunderstood when I asked previously). As I've mentioned above, I was informed that updating to 5.0.1 would '''require''' me to '''delete''' the current version and then install the new one. And doing so will involve losing all my bookmarks. I guess I should have been more specific and detailed there. By losing, I didn't mean losing them forever. I'm aware that they're secured in some place and deleting and installing the software doesn't harm its existence. What I meant that if I install the new version, I'd have to delete the old one. And after installing the new version, I'd have to transfer them (bookmarks) back from wherever they are. Get it? When it updated from 3.6.9 to 3.6.13, and from 3.6.13 to 3.6.18, I didn't need to follow that process. They were already present on their own.
BTW, I'm having no problems with 3.6.18 but after learning about the existence of version 5.0.1, I'm a bit too eager to lay my hands over it.
Thanks for your help; hope this wasn't extremely long.

  • I have iWork 09 and OS 10.7.5 but Software Update says there are no updates.  Anyone know why?

I have iWork 09 and OS 10.7.5 but Software Update says there are no updates.  Anyone know why?

Because you need to get Mavericks and then the current iWork applications from the Mac App Store and not Software Update.

  • IPhone has 7.0 os and says there are no updates

My iPhone 4S IOS is 7.0.  I am told by others that there is a 7.02 yet my phone says there are no updates.  What's my problem?

There is indeed an update to iOS 7.0.2
On your iPhone se the Settings app
Settings > General > Software Update
Do you get a notice about an update there? If not the first thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. Then go back to Settings and check for an update again. If you still don't see one and you are sure that your phone is not already updated to 7.0.2 try connecting your phone to the computer you normally sync with. Make sure the computer is running tunes 11.1.1. Use the Check for update feature in iTunes on your computer.

  • ITunes 7.7.1 - says there are 10 updates, downloads 42!

***? I'm told there are ten updates available in the App menu badge on the left hand side of iTunes, but iTunes ALSO says there are 42 updates. Since they're going to restore wherever the **** they want them - as close to the front as possible, more wasted time rearranging them to my liking, and then more wasted time when I next sync as iTunes re-backs up all the "changes."
Is there any regard for treating customers as more than mere beta testers?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Select "/var/log/install.log" from the file list. Post the messages from the last installation attempt, starting from the time when you launched the Installer or Software Update.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.

hi i used to have O2 pay monthly contract but it ended in September 2012, since the contract expired I keep requesting O2 to unlock my iphone4. But they keep saying we are unable to unlock because of error. This is going on for 2 years. O2 keep saying they retrying and nothing happening. I am frustrated. How to unlock my phone? Can Apple help me?

No Apple cannot and this is a User to User forum ,no Apple staff here
As the carrier that locked the iPhone ,O2 are the only organisation that can unlock the iPhone
That said they are the most co-operative of all UK carriers with unlocking
Have you actually asked what the issue is and filled in their request form
and are you still located in UK ,if not that will be the issue

i am trying to update my ibook 10.4.11so i tryed leopard but it said i needed  10.5 anyone know where i can get this from or anyother ideas please help

What is your need to upgrade to Leopard? So you can sync to iPhone, iPad, etc?

Leopard is no longer available at the Apple Store but may be available by calling Apple Phone Sales @ 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753).
If you can't obtain a retail install DVD from Apple, look on eBay or Google the installer part numbers to possibly find at an on-line store. Here's what to look for:
    MB427Z/A  Leopard 10.5.1 install DVD
    MB576Z/A  Leopard 10.5.4 install DVD
MB021Z/A  Leopard 10.5.6 install DVD (single user)
MB022Z/A  Leopard 10.5.6 install DVD (5-user family pack)

Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard Installation and Setup Guide

After you install the base 10.5, download & install the 10.5.8 combo update at http://support.apple.com/downloads/Mac_OS_X_10_5_8_Combo_Update
The DVD should look like this
Caution - Leopard does not support classic mode. So, if you currently open OS 9 apps in classic mode, you won't be able to do this if you upgrade to Leopard.

  • HT201364 I am trying to upgrade to OS X Mavericks but when I click on download it does nothing.  I can't load most apps because it says that I don't have the latest version.  Help! what can I do?

I am trying to upgrade to OS X Mavericks but when I click on download, nothing happens.  It shows as purchased but nothing is happening.  I have the MacBook Pro Late 2011 model.  I am unable to load any new apps because it says that I don't have the latest OS version.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I would appreciate it! Thanks

I installed 'Mavericks' on my Macbook Pro and am sorry I did !
It wiped my Mac's hard drive totally clean!
A technician here was able to reload the original OS but all my pictures, files and contacts were
    sent God knows where !
I should have done a back up, so I learned my lesson the hard way !
What really annoyed me was that this is an Apple program, so I wrongly assumed it would be a safe download.
    Wrong !
He told me that others in our small town had experienced the same problem, and since we live in a small community of about 6000, I wonder how many others have had this problem in more populated centers ?
Everything is thankfully up and running again ( at great expense in time and money )  but I will exercise more jurisprudence in future offers for any upgrades!
