HT1338 i'm getting red static line thru out my screen whats going on

im getting a red static screen that wont go away

Now that I can acctually get into the bios settings I guess my question is what exactly should they be? When the bios screen comes up it thinks it's a 1500+ chip when it's a 2200+ and occasionally it thinks my ram is running at 200 when it should be 266.

The last user troubleshooting step is a restore. Check this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414 about restore. Just be advised that a restore will delete content from the phone. If you restore from a backup, then it will put content back on, however if it is necessary for you to restore as a new device, everything will be deleted. Make sure content is synced and backed up.
If that doesn't do it, then make an appointement at the Genius Bar of the Apple store to have the hardware checked. If under warranty and found to be defective, they will replace the device. If no Apple Store close, then contact Apple Care.

  • Anyone else having plroblems with a red outter line flashing on their screen ramdomly since the latest upadate??

Since Verizon ran an update on my stellar couple days ago,My phone has been a little weird. Now it vibrates every time I get a message or anything for that matter. But the red flashing line around the screen is driving me crazy. Not sure what it is or if there is now something wrong with my phone. Anyone out there having this problem??

Check the development options in the phone settings. The red outline sounds like one of the options for developers was turned on.

  • I keep getting red/pink lines on my screen.  Does anyone know how to fix this?

My Mac Book Pro is a first generation which I purchased in 7/2008.  It's been great up until a month ago when it started having redish pink lines appear all over the screen.  The lines will appear sporadically and then go away.  Sometimes they appear for up to a half hour.  I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue and if theres a fix to it?  Thanks
Here is a pitcure of what it looks like.

This looks as though you may have a failing GPU.
You can try these resets that may help, but it looks like a hardware failure.
You may want to take it in to an Apple store genius bay, they will diagnose it for free and give you your options.

  • Red dotted line appear on the screen

There is a red dotted horizontal line will occasionally appear on the playbook's screen while I'm browse the web. It will stay there for from seconds to minutes. That only appear with the browser app and happen once on the Pictures app. Seems like a software problems? Or hardware( stuck pixies)?
Anyone gets clue about what is this thing about?
Updated: Just found out there are blue dotted line as well.

    Hi Byron,
I am creating an application that could possibly identify and fix your issue. Based on the pictures, it could be one of three things
    Dead Pixels
    Misbehaving Pixels
    Hardware/Screen defect
The app will try to solve 1 & 2 by cycling through all the pixels using an algorithm I made. Hopefully this will fix.

  • Flickering/Static Line on iphone 4 screen!

    Hi guys
I was just after a bit of advice if I may...
I bought my brand new iphone 4 barely 2 weeks ago, a few mere hours after switching it on I have this flickering (horizontal) white line appearing on the same part of the screen, at first I thought it may be a fluke but it comes and goes during the day (every day!)  Sometimes it flickers for a few seconds, other times it is static for a day/hours.  I packaged my phone off to apple and received it back this morning (apparantly they could not diagnose the problem).  Anyway low and behold an hour after turning it on this darn line re-appears then disappears etc...!!
Would it be worth me going to a genius bar to see what they can do for me?  (I have video evidence on my ipod)  Is it possible for me to get a replacement?
I'm really not sure what do for my next step?
Thanks in advance everyone  -  Geri.

Your warranty is for 1 year, so you are definitely covered by the first year warranty. The 90 days is just for free technical support.
Since this sounds like a hardware problem, you will need to contact Apple about it. If you have access to an Apple Store, make an appointment at the genius bar so you can show them the line. If not, call Apple and tell them you have a hardware problem and ask them if there is perhaps an AASP close to you who could have a look at it.
It is not too late to get 3 year Applecare--if you do, you will have not only a total of 3 years warranty, but 3 years of free tech support as well.
    Good luck!

  • First Timer – Can't get Win Xp Pro to Load – Blue Screens - What to do next??

This is my first build, and I have the following hardware:
    Athlon64 939 3000+ Processor
    MSI K8N-Neo2 Platinum Motherboard
    Corsair TWINX1024-3200C2PT 1GB DDR400 (512X2)
Hitachi 160GB 7k250 SATA Hard Drive
    ATI 9600XT AIW Video Card
    Plextor 716A 16X Dual Layer CD/DVD
    Antec True430 PSU (+12V: 26A; +5V: 36A)
    Cooler Master Praetorian Case (Silver)
After putting it together, I observed the CPU temps in the BIOS for a while (my concerns, now gone, are documented in another thread), and never noticed any other problems.  I partitioned the hard drive using Partition Commander, from the CD.
Last night was the first time I tried to load Windows Xp Pro (have used 98SE on my old PCs), and it did not go well.  Although I had loaded the Partition Commander S/W a number of times via the CD ROM drive, the first time I tried to load Win Xp, it wouldn’t boot up from the CD ROM drive.  I had to try it a few times before it started (even though the CD ROM was set to first priority for booting in BIOS).  Once started, when it was in the middle of loading files (not far into the entire process), I started getting errors with wording something like “Couldn’t load file XYZ, hit enter to retry, or cancel...”.  After hitting Enter a few dozen times, it made it through that part of the process, but then later, I started getting blue error screens reading “A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage ...”  I rebooted and the installation resumed, but every time but one (I must have tried it six times) I ended up at a blue error screen before it finished.  At the bottom of these screens, there was always a line that read (but not always the same numbers):
“*** STOP 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x804EAAB4, 0xEE7A8C80, 0x00000000)”.  One time, there was also, after the first para on the screen the line “DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL”.  Another time, it made it to the final (I think) “Saving Settings” part of the process, showing 5 mins left to go, and just hung.
Can someone help me figure out what these errors mean?  I’m at a loss as to what to do next, and of course really want to get this thing up and running.  I read another similar thread where people suggested the PSU was insufficient (he was using a 300W PSU), but I don’t think that is the issue here.  I’m also sure I have the latest BIOS version (V1.4) for my motherboard, so that shouldn’t be an issue either.
Thanks in advance for your help....Thksnow

This is a completely new install (new h/w and s/w) of Xp Pro w/SP2 incorporated (not an upgrade).  Someone recommended removing one of the two memory sticks, and trying to load Xp afterwards, then reinstalling the 2nd stick after the install completes.  I tried it tonight, after reformatting the partition, and the install went completely thru without a hitch the first time!!!  I can't explain why it worked, but I guess there can be some kind of memory issue when you have two dual channel sticks during an Xp install.  I have now reinstalled the 2nd stick, and so far, so good.  Tomorrow I will run Memtest86 to see if that turns up any errors.  By the way, how do you tell if it's truly operating as "Dual Channel"?  Is there some way to tell?

  • Safari crashed and the mac keeps getting the pinwheel of death, especially when streaming. whats going on???

I was streaming a baseball game and safari crashed on me, i have a macbook air osx7.1. it said it sent a message to apple about the situation. been having problems with then pinwheel of death! especially when I'm streaming the pinwheel will pop up for no reason. does anyone have any idea what the problem could be??

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if iTunes crashed, you would enter "iTunes" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

  • I have an ipod that when you turn it on all you get is a lit up white blank screen what do i do

i have an ipod touch when you turn it on the screen just lites up white with no words or anything what do i do

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • What is the white horizontal line and red vertical line on my brand new ipad mini?

Bought a brand new ipad mini 2 for my sons Christmas, took it out the box and it was during the set up process, ie entering his iTunes and icloud account, a white horizontal line and a red vertical line appeared on the screen and is there all the time now.  Have tried switching off and on and resetting, but it is still there.  Any ideas??

    Hi Tolmivooz,
So the lines didn't appear until you were into the setup?
Does the orientation of the lines change when you rotate the screen?
Thanks for trying the restart and reset. Please see if a restore helps.

  • Red static using Apple's mini-Displayport to DVI Single Link adaptor

    Here's the problem :
The adapter from Apple I got is the 30$ (or so) DVI-D Single Link (nine pins active on the side with six pins non-active in the center).
My Dell 2408WFP monitor got two DVI-D Single Link connectors.
I did my test with two different cable : one DVI-D Single Link and one DVI-D Dual Link. Both cable are working just fine since I can hook either my older Macbook Pro Core Duo or my PC to the monitor using them.
But when I 'm trying to use my new Macbook Pro Unibody 13" with the mini-Displayport to DVI adapter I always get red statics : one pixel dots flickering randomly all over the screen. The picture is there, though, and my computer is able to recognize the display and its native resolution (1920x1200). Sometime, the display seems to lose the signal and shows only white noise.
    Any idea, similar experience?
    P.
    Thanks for everything,
    P.

Problem solved here, really. Nothing to do with Apple. Everything to do with Dell.
So I got a replacement monitor (a second one) from Dell regarding another problem with the Displayport connexion. It fixed this problem. I then tested the same mini-Displayport to DVI adaptor on this new replacement monitor : works flawlessly. No problem whatsoever. No static. No suddenly going in sleep mode. No random disconnection. So the problem was the monitor : EDID profile, maybe firmware. See below.
Here are more details which I got using SwitchResX. I hope it can help others for diagnostic.
The monitor that was ALL wrong was : a Dell 2408WFP, EDID version 1.3, product code 10912 (2AA0) (A02A) (which means, I think that it was REV A02A : you CANNOT rely on what's written on the sticker on the back of the monitor for that info especially when you get a replacement monitor, use SwitchResX).
The new monitor that is WORKING (with everything : Diplayport connexion as well as mini-Displayport to DVI adapter) : a Dell 2408WFP, EDID version 1.4, product code 11168 (2BA0) (A02B) (so I guess is REV A02B).
Notice the difference in the EDID version AND in the REV version.
If you have a Dell monitor, same model (2408WFP) and are experiencing problems with your connexions, check those info, call Dell for a replacement.
Thanks for all your feedback and suggestions. I'll post this on Dell forum as well.
    P.

  • Red Static at 1080p but not at 720p? Help Please!

So I have the main issue posted in another thread - my miniDisplayport to DVI/HDMI is no longer recognizing a monitor I have been using since I bought the computer in July. I think the problem is 10.6.5 and up so we'll see what happens there...
I have an external running OSX 10.6.3 and that allows me to actually output the video through the miniDP --> DVI --> HDMI adapter --> Monitor at 1080p (yes the monitor supports it!). It used to output fine at 1080p but now it has red static. If I drop the resolution on the external to 720p, no more red static.
If I use the miniDP --> DVI --> HDMI adapter --> my TV, I don't get red static so I am assuming it is not a cable issue. Also, I haven't done anything to the cables that should warrant a change.
I have even taken off the HDMI adapter and run it miniDP --> DVI --> monitor, with similar results. I don't see the same options but at 1900 x 1080 I get red static but at 1600 x 1200, it's gone.
Anyone have some insight into this.

Hello Klatch! Thanks for your reply!
Well, thing is that it used to work before. Of course, I'll definately check if an update is available
All these issues began maybe a month or 2 ago. Everything was working flawlessly. One time, I lost my connection and that's where everything got messed up.
My main problem is that I get this "Unidentified Network" in the network and sharing center that seems to be causing the problem, as far as I know.
I connect the router and get the Unidientified Network icon, plus another one. I deleted one, but it was still there. Even if I try to merge them, nothing happens.
I even connected the modem directly and could not connect to the internet for some time, because Vista was still looking for the previous setting (back when the router was working). I had to unplug the modem several times, reboot, etc. I tried so many things that I lost track of what made the computer work again :lol.
I tried to connect the router last night and nothing. The only thing that seems to work is unplugging the router for a long time/resetting it, then Vista will make the connection, but if I restart, the internet it's gone.Message Edited by jt001 on 04-05-200705:31 AM

  • Random static lines on playback

I concur there are glitches in iMovie 6. It's very frustrating. I first thought it was a RAM problem, so I added more memory. It's definately made processing faster but that did not stop the glitches.
    1. On playback of my movie I sporadically get those static lines in my pictures. It's very annoying. How do I get rid of them??!!
    2. The audio in the transitions are distorted.
Please help. Thank you. I'm returning to iMovie 5 for now.

Try re-ripping the tracks using a different program.
