HT1338 I'm having trouble renting movies from itunes to my MacBook Pro.  I keep getting an unknown error -50. I also can't download things nor access the app store. How can I fix this?

I'm having trouble renting movies and other media from itunes to my MacBook Pro.  I keep getting an unable to access itunes due to an unknown error -50. I can't even access the app store. Anybody know how to fix this?

Have you tried posting your issue in the iTunes forum where all those gurus are?

    I am trying to rent a movie from iTunes on my Macbook Pro but when I click on the gray rent movie button it does NOTHING, like I never clicked on it.  I am signed in, I authorized the computer and have rented movies in the past.   I do have OS X 10.5.8 and iTunes 10.6.3(25) because I haven't purchased new software to upgrade something that works just fine, until now. I'm not sure if the software is the problem because I have rented movies in the past 6 months. I have just tried to purchase other movies, and even songs, and it doesn't do anything when I click the gray price to purchase the song.  Please help.

    Same exact thing just started happening to me. Same issues as you. I have tried restarting itunes and reinstalling many times with no luck at all.

    Is the movie still buffering? you may have a slow internet connection. Music files require far less bandwidth than movies.

  • Trouble renting movie from itunes

    Has anybody ever received a message when renting movies from iTunes directly on to Apple TV, 2nd G, Error-unable to download content, try again later.  I have not rented anything in a while and I do not seem to be able to move past this point in the rental process.  The movie is behaving like it has been rented, as it is showing I have 29 days to view.  Upon pressing play, it starts showing the loading, and then instead of starting to play the movie or provide an estiamte of how long until it can be played, it goes to the error message above.

    Thank you for the suggestion.  I did pull all cables and reboot the router.  Some additional information I found as I tried other aspects of Apple TV.  Via iTunes I could download and watch theater trailers.  On You Tube I could watch Selected content.  However, when I tried a You Tube Search, for a topic, I receieved yet another strange message indicating a connection issue.  However, mutliple tasks on the menu do connect to the internet and work fine.  I have rebooted the Apple TV several times.  It almost seems if the software of firmware is corrupted.  Does anybody have any additonal thoughts or similar experiences.

    2. Make sure you are using the latest software
    3. Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>On
    4. Make sure Time Zone is correct

    If you click on Purchases icon in the toolbar you should find it listed with your purchases. There should be a progress bar showing.
    The file is over 4  GBs. How long it takes depends on your internet service speed.

    It is the site you are going to.
    The advertising they are using is giving safari a URL for the App Store, causing safari to open the App Store.
    Stop going to the site using this kind of advertising, it will stop happening.
    I had this is issue with a Mac news site.
    I stooped going to their site, it stopped happening.
    I also used the contact us link on their site to tell them I was leaving and why.

    Quit the App Store if it's open.
    Launch iTunes.

  • I can't use my master card in App Store. how can I use it?

    I can not use my master card shopping in App store. I could do that before, but I don't know what happend to it then. When I try to purchase somethin in there, after entering my card number, it says that the number is incorrect. I am sure everything is ok.
