My Mac Air automatically minimizes my applications every ten minutes. I believe this is a software glitch, but I could have done something to cause it???

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Mac Mini Connected to TV Causes Blank Pauses every ten minutes

I hope someone can help with a small but frustrating issue I'm having.
I have a Mac Mini (2011) hooked up to a new 1080p television. The mini goes via HDMI straight to the TV, no adapters. The mini is also connected to a regular computer monitor simultaneously, set to mirror.
Until this week, I had an identical setup with an older, smaller hd television, where the mini was connected to the TV with an HDMI -> DVI adapter and also to the same second monitor. The TV was off most of the time, I only turned it on to watch a movie off my hard drive or whatever.
Here's the problem: When the new TV is OFF, every ten minutes or so with the monitor goes blank and resets, as if someone unplugged the HDMI connection and then plugged it back in the quickly. While this happens the Mac is frozen for about 5 seconds. I can reproduce the same effect by actually unplugging the HDMI wire. It is also the same pause that happens when I change the monitor and TV displays from mirroring to non-mirroring (side-by-side).
This only happens when the TV is off. If the TV is on, there is no issue.
I'd like to be able to sit at my desk using the monitor without the TV screen on, as I was able to do with my older television. I never had this problem with that TV over many months.
Is there any kind of setting change that might help?
I'm guessing the TV being off causes the HDMI connection to be occasionally lost and then the MAC resumes/redetects the TV, triggering the display to reset, but I think it is odd that this only happens after the thing has been off for ten minutes (and then repeats regularly). I've fiddled with the power options and energy saving settings on the TV, none of them seem to have any effect. Is there anything I can do on the Mac side? The only other option I can think of is to actually unplug the TV when I'm not using it, but that would get old fast.
Any advice would be appreciated. I've tried turning off mirroring, turning the TV off while not having the HDMI input active at that moment, and turning off all power saving options on the TV. I expect this is more a "tv problem" than a Mac problem, but it can't hurt to ask.

I couldnt get it to work even though I tried disconnecting an connecting the modules again. When I replaced the 4gb modules with the ones that came with the computer it started working perfectly.
Does this mean that one of the modules might be damaged? I am going to try connecting one of the factory ram and one of the ones I bought to see which is the one that doesn't work and see if I can replace it.

HT1338 After installing mountain lion, my macbook pro (2010ish) crashes every ten minutes. How can I fix this?

Title pretty much says it all. I installed Moutain Lion today and every ten minutes or so no matter what I'm doing my computer freezes up (iTunes always first) and then the entire computer freezes. What can I do to stop this?
I always have to hold down the power button to reboot, nothing else works to make it unfreeze.

Mozila crash every ten minutes

hi there,
For the last couple months or so I've been getting the dreaded beachball whenever I use Mozila. Basically Mozila hangs for 30 seconds and then all is well once again. This happens with army-like regularity, ie., every ten minutes. Most of the time, it crashes.
I have tried reinstalling Mozila--made no difference.
I attach my Mac's specs and also the current activity monitor report, to answer your basic questions.

(oh, I would totally use Safari, however for some reason I'm part of that subset of users who've been forced to create a guest login in order to use safari--otherwise under my regular login credentials the app opens and just freeze-- it's pathetic and it's extremely inconvenient--there are times when I regret my dell latitude: 6 years of usage without ever a single problem.

Ok, first off if you have to create a guest account to use Safari means the Safari program is running fine, however something in your "regular user" is messed likely your cache files or preferences file related to Safari in your regular user only.
What has hosed up Safari is also likely causing your problems in Firefox, but it sounds like it's only based in the "regular user" which can be easily remedied.
1: Backup your user file data folders to a external drive (Music Documents Pictures etc not Library) and disconnect this drive (do not use TimeMachine) disconnect all drives.
2: Next we are going to try a simple fix and some investigation, download the free OnyX and run ALL the maintainence and cleaning aspects and reboot.

If OnyX gives any warnings when you run the checks, please state so, it could be a sign of a bigger issue.
3: Next run OnyX again and under the Verify is a preference file check, show only corrupt files and run that, write down all the corrupted plist files. Quit and locate these files and delete them, likely will be in your Users/Library/Preferences folder. Reboot the computer and start the programs associated with those plist files and reset your preferences.
4: If the above steps don't work, then create another user admin account (not a guest or standard account) log into it and try everything there to make sure programs work.
5: Firefox in your new account shouldn't have the addons, so update it and make sure it's current, add the addons you use. Safari should work as well.
6: There is a Shared Drop Box folder under your Users Folder that you can transfer files between accounts. Once your up on the new account, delete the troubled one.
7: Check here to make sure your plug-ins are current.

It's really annoying as rinsing my data!

After talking to Apple for 3 hours I figured it out myself.
Tre here was a singular failed song on iTunes on the computer that was trying to download and messing everything up. Maybe if you use iTunes on the computer and have a little mooch you'll find the same thing. I think it was hidden in the purchased part of it

Lags about every ten minutes when gaming

HI all,
last six months i cant game as i have terrible lag spikes that last 10 seconds or so every ten minutes.
I've setup pingplotter on another computer to monitor it and i get 100% packet loss on the first hop from the router.
its getting really anoying now , any ideas
done the usual updating of drivers virus scans etc, resetting router but nothing seems to help

Found this in another post -- it should help, assuming you've tried simply holding the power button for 15 seconds already.
As a first step you could try an SMC reset followed by a PRAM reset:
SMC Reset
Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer’s power cord and disconnect peripherals.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
Release the power button.
Attach the computers power cable.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Reset PRAM
Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P and R.
You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.

ForEverSave Lite juste save every x minutes.
The ful version is able to keep date_time stamped copies.
It's the only way to play true safety.
It's also what may be achieved with my script.
ForEverSave Full (not free) is better if you want to have the autosave feature with dateTime stamped backups for every applications.
