HT1338 Switching to Login on its own

Hi All, when running my MacBook Pro, (2.3 GHz Intel Core i7, 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3, Mac OSX V10.7.5) it sometimes switches to the login screen all on its own, when I log back in all apps startup again but from a closed state and I may loose any changes made to documents etc, iTunes will not start where it left off etc. I am typically running 5 or 6 applications say email, iTunes, iPhoto, Safari, Skype and sometimes others, I may have my iPod or iPhone plugged in or syncing but there doesn’t seem to be any particular combination or reason. Does anyone else have this or have you managed to resolve it?

  • Iphone 5 keeps switching to silent on its own

My Iphone 5 is stuck on silent mode, or more accurately it keeps switching to silent on its own.
The problem started about 2 days ago, after upgrading to iOS 7.1 last week. The phone keeps switching in and out of silent mode (without the button being touched) and mostly stays in silent. It's not a speaker problem, nor a settings problem, as I’ve checked every bit of online advice I could find. I tried restarting, resetting, restoring, cleaning the headphone jack, and nothing helps.
An attempt to see if it’s a headphone related issue (by plugging and unplugging while restarting in various combinations) got it working fine for about 5 minutes, then it switched back to silent.
Needless to say, the phone did not suffer from any physical damage prior to the problem.

I have the identical problem, and it started when I upgraded as well.
Trips to the AT&T store, and to Apple twice have not been able to solve. (Other than telling me for $300 they would replace it since my phone is 6 months past the 1 year warranty) All the resetting, wiping, even restoring to factory defaults using iTunes from the computer have failed. I finally had a tech open it and look at it, and it's pristine.
I've suspected software since the problem started occurring, because it is so random, and the fact that the speaker, mic, headphone, etc... all work fine.
Just while it's sitting on the desk, it will jump back and forth from silent to ring mode, but mostly stays in silent.
I'm convinced this is a bug

You may have a faulty power button. Take it to an Apple store for an evaluation.

  • ITunes switched to Chinese on its own

My iTunes switched to Chinese on its own and I do not know how to switch it back. I tried going to my macbook's system preferences, but my language is already set to English. I've restarted both iTunes and my computer and nothing has worked!

    OK, let us know if that takes care of the problem. Also if you are in the habit of turning off your compute when you're done with it for the day please read your owner's manual again. It isn't necessary to turn it off, on page 15 of the current models it says;
    Putting Your iMac to Sleep
If you‘ll be away from your iMac for less than a few days, put it to sleep. When your iMac is in sleep, its screen is dark. You can quickly wake your iMac and bypass the startup process.
I (and many others) are in the habit of leaving their machines on 24/7. I let mine sleep when not being used, it been doing this for about 4  years and has been 100% reliable. Just a thought!

  • Cisco 6500 Catalyst switch has reset/rebooted on its own

We expereinced one of our backbone catalyst 6500 switch got reloaded on its own.no particular information in the log.The software version is 6.3 (5)
Is there any chance one port/server NIC can make whole switch to go down.

Atleast in this crash, it cannot be rootc aused since there is no stack info. But we had few bugs due to which stack would not be written to sh log output. So if you are confident that there were no power/UPS issues, you might want to consider upgrading to general deployment release 7.6(17)

  • ASA failover: secondary ASA disabled failover on its own

    Hi all
I have a failover pair of ASA 5520 (Software Version 8.2(4)4)
located in two different data centers.
Because of a network issue the layer 2 connection between both locations has been interrupted for a couple of seconds and the ASAs went into split-brain as one would expect them to do.
The thing is that after approx. 1 minute the secondary ASA switched off its failover configuration (i.e. "show run" gives "no failover") without anybody telling it to do so. Here is the "show failover history" of the device:
    07:57:34 MESZ Aug 15 2011
Standby Ready              Just Active                HELLO not heard from mate
    07:57:34 MESZ Aug 15 2011
Just Active                Active Drain               HELLO not heard from mate
    07:57:34 MESZ Aug 15 2011
Active Drain               Active Applying Config     HELLO not heard from mate
    07:57:34 MESZ Aug 15 2011
Active Applying Config     Active Config Applied      HELLO not heard from mate
    07:57:34 MESZ Aug 15 2011
Active Config Applied      Active                     HELLO not heard from mate
    07:58:03 MESZ Aug 15 2011
Active                     Cold Standby               Failover state check
    07:58:18 MESZ Aug 15 2011
Cold Standby               Disabled                   HA state progression failed
At this point failover was switched off completely and the split-brain remained even after the layer-2-connection has been reestablished.
This is no good.:( I have searched for "HA state progression failed" without any useful result/explanation.
Why did the device switch off failover on its own and how can we assure that it won't do this again?
    Best regards,
    Grischa

Yes, only thing I needed to do was issuing "failover" on the secondary. It detected its active mate and went properly into standby:
    09:16:18 MESZ Aug 15 2011
Disabled                   Negotiation                Set by the config command
    09:16:19 MESZ Aug 15 2011
Negotiation                Cold Standby               Detected an Active mate
    09:16:21 MESZ Aug 15 2011
Cold Standby               Sync Config                Detected an Active mate
    09:16:31 MESZ Aug 15 2011
Sync Config                Sync File System           Detected an Active mate
    09:16:31 MESZ Aug 15 2011
Sync File System           Bulk Sync                  Detected an Active mate
    09:16:31 MESZ Aug 15 2011
Bulk Sync                  Standby Ready              Detected an Active mate
I guess we will go the TAC way if we encounter this situation a second time. This time we will be warned and know where to look at.
Is there really no documentation available of the "HA state progression failed" message? What does it mean and how is it triggered usually?
    Regards,
    Grischa

Hi! Thank you for your input. I personally recommend this method as well in certain occasions, but we need to remember that not all issues regarding BlackBerry Curve devices not powering up (specifically 9320's) is an issue  can be rectified by this method. It can be an issue with monitor, a software, battery, faulty hardware etc., that's why we need to probe and not assume that placing a piece of paper is the snake oil for 9320 issues. Although it may help sometimes, let's not assure users that this is the solution to their problem.

Is it possible that you or someone who knows your iCloud sign on went into the Find My iPhone app and erased your device via iCloud? Because that is what that message is saying.
Have you tried to sign on with your Apple ID and password?
Was it online prior to this incident happening?

  • N9 keep switching off on its own

my N9 does not power on it keeps switching off on its own....can anyone assist?

So it isn't the sim and not the boot loop.  Have you tried charging using any source just to make sure that isn't the charger? Failing that you might have to consider a hard reset.

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting this issue?  Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?
What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the PC?
    How to reset iPod
Has this iPod ever worked on this PC or is this the first time you have time you have tried connecting it?
Have you carefully worked through each and every single suggestion in this Apple support document?

Ok actually my mistake it says "an error occurred during activation. try again" I spoke with apple tech support right now and she mentioned they are having trouble with there servers.  Do you by any chance know what the restrictions area means? Should that be activated or deactivated, does that make a difference?

  • Ipod doesn't switch off on its own

    Hello,
I have a black Ipod 60GB and it doesn't switch off on its own. I know that the old Ipods will switch off on their own if you are not using it for more than a couple of minutes. So I thought the 5th generation would do that as well but mine doesn't and it's really annoying. Does anyone know if 5th generation Ipod should do that? And if yes, in which part of the menu can I set that option?
    Thanks.
    Alexandra

  • HELP!:TB switching to/from car/desktop mode on its own and won't connect to computer

When I charge my Thunderbolt, it will randomly switch to/from desktop mode on its own. Also, it won't recognize the VZW car mount any longer. I have the app to turn on the car mode, but occasionally it will turn off, on its own, as well.
In addition to all this, my computer can't find my TB, no matter what setting I use to "Connect to PC"!
    Can anyone help?

Thank you lemew for your reply.
