HT1349 Unable to Dowload iTunes Due to Older Version Malfunction

My iTunes no longer works on my Windows Vista Lap top. It said it was removed and I tried reinstalling and it says the iTunes package cannot be found so I can't download it again. What should I do in order to be able to download iTunes?

Try this.... I haven't yet but plan on it...  let us know if it works

  • Cannot download a new version of iTunes because the older version of Bonjour cannot be removed.

I lost iTunes due to a virus.  Now I cannot download iTunes, because the older version of Bonjour cannot be removed.

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another install. Does it go through this time?

    Hey guys,
This is the problem. My father just got an iPhone 5. He has a Macbook Pro 2009 with OS X 10.5.8.  The iPhone is not compatible with this version since the iTunes is an older version as well. At our local Apple store in my home country, they told him he needs to upgrade (which I agree of) but that the memory of this computer is not enough to hold the newer OS.
Please help, he does not really agree with buying a new computer just because of the versions.
Thank you, I appreciate your help.

This is what I have. Thank you so much rdr4lfe.

  • I am unable to install iTunes due to update (vista)

I was prompted to update my iTunes to the latest version (along with QuickTime). when I clicked update, it deleted the old iTunes and made a shortcut, but I am unable to use iTunes or QuickTime. when I tried to reinstall them it opened the installer and just when it was almost done (publishing product information) it brings up a message saying   "An error occurred durring the intallation or assembly 'mictosoft. VC80.CRT,type=''win32" , version="8.0.50727.6195" ,publicKeyToken=" 1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b" .processorArchitecture="x86'" .please refer to help and support for more information. HRESULT: 0x800736FD"

I finally got the program to install/run.  I downloaded a third copy and saved it again on the desktop.  I selected "Run as Administrator" instead of "Run"  It must have been the 10th plus time I tried to install, but this time it completed.  I don't know if the "Run as Administrator" was the key since it is Vista, or if I just got lucky. Either way I am relieved.

  • ITunes not installing due to "older version of Apple Mobile Device Support"

I used to use iTunes before for my nano until I ran into some issues and uninstalled the software and started using Winamp. Now I'm going to get the family iPad and am going to need to use iTunes again. Here I ran into the problems. During installation, "iTunes + other random software" will reach a certain point giving me errors for an older version of certain products still existing on my machine. Through Add/Remove Programs I cleaned out my machine of all Apple software but couldn't get rid of one part; Apple Mobile Device Support v.2.6.0.32.
    I get the error message:
"The feature you are trying to use in on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again, ot enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi' in the box below."
That is a file which no longer exists on my computer.
What do I do? I don't want to have a vegetable iPad.

"The feature you are trying to use in on a network resource that is unavailable. ... Click OK to try again, ot enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi' in the box below."
Unfortunately, these sorts of msi-related troubles have gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any *Apple Mobile Device Support* entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly this time?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • Unable to buy Itunes due to 10.5.5 and Safari not talking

My printer works with 10.5.5 and not with 10.5.6, 10.5.7 or 10.5.8 (http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=11152850#11152850). Itunes wants Safari 4.0.3 or later and Safari 4.0.4 wants 10.5.8. So, no Itunes. Are there any workarounds?
My work/income requires CAD and 3D visualization sw and there have been reported problems about them mixing with 10.6. Obviously, no 10.6 until they play nice.
    Suggestions much appreciated.
    Cheers.
    Leonard

Hi Sig. I assume to go back a version or two of iTunes some parts of the current version have to be removed before installing the older version. Is there a general uninstall or do you know which items need to be removed and where they are located?
Yep, it is free; we wanted to buy some songs and a video or two.
    Cheers.

  • I can't install iTunes because an older version can't be removed.

I can't seem to get Itunes to install. It keeps giving me a message that it can not remove an older version of Itunes. I've deleted every Apple related file, per recommendation of this site. I went in an cleaned up the registry of every reference to Itunes I could find and I still get this message.
Has anyone ever run into this before? I wish the install would give you more detailed info.

It keeps giving me a message that it can not remove an older version of Itunes.

  • Importing playlists from iTunes 10 to older version

    Hi,
I have a friend who's just copied his 80GB music library on his Macbook Pro(10.6.5) to his G5 (10.4.x). All is well with the music library, but he wants the Playlists from iTunes 10 on the Macbook to be transferred to the G5.
Does anyone have any ideas on the best method to batch export playlists only, into a single file? I checked out dougs Applescripts for iTunes and the nearest thing i found was 'create playlists based on albums'.
Also, is it the 'iTunes Music Library.xml' file that contains the playlists?
Would it be possible to import that iTunes 10 created file to an older version of iTunes (i can't test this at the moment...)
    Thanks in advance

Am i missing something obvious or is it not possible to import a regular playlist from itunes onto the ipod?
You don't import playlist to the iPod. If you are manually managing, you drag it to the iPod.
If you are not manually managing, you auto-sync it.
When i tried to drag the finished playlist to the ipod it wouldn't let me.
    Select the iPod in iTunes.
Is *Manually manage music* and videos ticked?

  • Can't launch iTunes due to previous version of QuickTime installed

I installed an older version of QuickTime, now I can't launch iTunes anymore. In Control Panel, I have QuickTime 32--version 2.11.57 listed. I did everything in the document http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=3366434&#3366434
but nothing has worked. I can't seem to uninstall the old version of QuickTime. When I run QTInstaller713.exe I get an error message about "Can't install because a newer version is already installed"
    Sony Vaio VGN-S260   Windows XP

There are no QuickTimes listed in the Add/Remove list. I see it listed in the Control Panel where there is a QuickTime and a QuickTime 32 (v2.11.57). I also see it in Start > Programs > QuickTime. When I click on that I get the message: "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed."

  • ITunes Settings or older version

I have a question about settings on version 8. I want to set it up so that when I want to sort by album, that it doesn't subdivide the album if it is multiple artists. Most of my album collection is compilations or soundtracks with multiple artists and it is very annoying that I can't just click on one folder to see all the songs on the album, it does multiple copies of that album with -artist. Is there a setting that I am missing to change it to that or do I have to downgrade in order to unclutter my album list? I have roughly 950+/- cd's worth of music with about 1/4-1/2 of them compilations (If someone wants, I'll count them when I get my next batch ripped into my hd for my mp3 player) I didn't discover this problem until I tried to rip the cd's and edit the information, and have spent 2 days looking for info on fixing it.
If someone can let me know if I missed a setting somewhere, or where I can download an older version; I would appreciate it.

You can google for old itunes versions. The moderators have asked me not to post the link.
Also, you might just need to tick the "Compilation" checkbox for those CDs. or make sure the Album Artiist field is filled in. This article has good examples:

  • I am unable to install iTunes due to Windows Installer error message on Vista

I needed to update my iTunes since I purchased the iPad2.  My Windows Vista machine will not allow me to update the program due to a "Windows Installer" error message.  I first attempted to update, then I uninstalled and am unable to reinstall the software."There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run..."

  • Unable to update iTunes due to no iTunes.msi file

I cannot download 21.1 iTunes update as it blocks me due to a lack of the itunes.msi file. I cannot uninstall als due to the lack of this missing file. I am also having a similar problem with Quick Time.

"MSI" suggests a Microsoft Installer File.
Are you using a Mac?  Have you somehow brought over something from Windows that should not be on your system?
    Try downloading from http://www.apple.com/itunes/download
