HT1366 My iMac has been stolen. Can I find out its Ethernet ID if all I got is the Mac serial number? Will this eventually help me track it down?
Is there a way to track down a stolen imac without a findmymac app in it?
My old imac was recently stolen and all I have is the serial number. I was told that with the ethernet ID I could possibly track it down once it connects back to internet. unfortunatedlyI don`t have this ID number. All I gave is the serial number. I would like to know if I can get the ethernet ID through it?
The reason, I included the annotation that I'd upgraded my Itunes, (On my Computer) is B/C in many forums - the very first question, *HELPERS* ask, is. "Do you have the latest version of Itunes downloaded on your computer." I wanted to knock out any obvious replies.
Now- "DO YOU have any idea,"... how your UNHELPFUL remarks, do absolutely nothing but hurt others that might not have the EXPERIENCE you have? How do you expect people to know things without asking questions? Whew! RUDE!!

If you had activated Find My iPhone prior to the device being stolen, then go to www.icloud.com and log in. Select your device and see if it locates. The device has to be powered on and connected to the internet, either by wi-wi or cellular to locate.
Did you have a passcode on the device? If not, then send a lock command via iCloud. It will initiate if the device is connected, or when it gets connected again if the device is powered off. Report the theft to the local police and your carrier. If you had iOS 7 on the device as you indicate in your profile, the thief will not be able to activate the device. It will be useless to them. -

First, is the computer setup to use Find My Mac? Second, you cannot find it unless it has been turned on and connected to the Internet.

They can, but the images will only be the small thumbnail files that are created for optimized viewing on the iPod's smaller display. That is unless you store the images on the iPod in their full resolution.

My ipod was stolen, can I find out what the serial number of it is, based on looking at a connection history in my itunes? How would I do this? I didn't register it. I think I found the guy selling it, just looking to confirm the serial number and I'll make a phone call to the police.

You have 3 months of care and up to 3 years with paid AppleCare, let them handle it and bring everything in.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can only locate your device when it is logged into iCloud and 'Find My Phone' is enabled, additionally the device will need to be switched on and connected to a wifi or cellular network.
Unfortunately, you cannot activate iCloud or 'Find My Phone' remotely.
If the device is wiped by you or another, you may not be able to locate the device (although some have reported they can) -

ThanksSorry, but the Classic has no internet capabilities, so there is no way to wipe it. And without Find My iPhone (which requires Wifi or cellular, there is really nothing that you can do to trace it either).
Your only option would be to report it to the police...

I use Adobe Pro on my desktop daily at the office and now will be handling work remotely from a laptop as well. Adobe Pro is essential for my work (bates stamping, redaction, advanced editing, etc). Can I use the same serial number and installation disc to load this on my laptop? There are no instructions that speak to this issue and I know other programs I have installed provided for both desktop and laptop access. It isn't like I am giving use of this product to another user or pirating it, so I can't foresee an issue. Any information is much appreciated. Thank you!

Adobe End User License Agreement entitles you to install a singe retail license on 2 computers at any instance.
So you can load Acrobat 9 license on the other computer too.
