Converting to PDF: Page Size varies

I have to turn a spreadsheet in to a report. Numbers is doing the business until I export to PDF. One page is not coming out as A4 even though I have set it to be A4, reduced font size, dragged the custom size slider etc it still comes out the way it wants. The trouble is that this page is affecting the size of the other 10 pages on the spreadsheet and making them not A4 too. I know they are ok because I have printed individually. Is there a way of exporting a series of 12 sheets to PDF while excluding one (option seems to be all or current sheet). Or is there another way of sorting his that I am missing?

M,
Paper size is a Document property, set in the Document Inspector. It affects every Page of every Sheet in your document. You can't set one Sheet or Page differently from any other. That's why when you change the size for one sheet, all of them change.
You have a couple of options that I can think of, but only you can decide how best to handle this. I think I would try to make the one odd sheet a separate document. That might require that you duplicate some of your data in the document with only one Sheet. Or, you could print everything to one format as PDF and use the Preview app to Print and Scale the odd page. You are going to be printing this one page separately from the rest anyway since it requires a paper change in the printer.

  • Right Click jpg from Windows Explorer Convert to pdf page size issue

I'm running Acrobat 8 Standard and trying to figure out what controls the page size when you right click and select convert to pdf on a jpg file.  I've got several jpg files of all shapes and sizes and no matter what I try the pdf is always Letter Landscape.  If I use File - Create PDF - From File within Acrobat then the pdf retains the size of the original jpg and that is what I want the right click to do.

I wanted to add a little more detail.  Using the right click convert to pdf on any jpg results in a pdf that is landscape letter.  If the jpg is smaller than the page it is scaled up but if it bigger then it gets cropped.  I can open the same files from inside Acrobat and they convert without a problem.  Any thoughts on what controls the conversion process whenever using the right click feature on a jpg file?

  • Change pdf page size to uploaded file page size

I've added a new page size in the PDF printer -- but when I identify a file that is being converted
in Acrobat Pro9, the finished pdf is always 8x11. I can't find any page size adjustment in preferences
or page setup, properties, etc.  Please help

    >How do I change the pdf page size to print on the larger size without the blank, empty margins above and below the page?
You can't. That would require changing font sizes and document reflow. 8.5 x14 isn't proportionate to 8.5x11.

  • PDF Page Size

    Hi,
I'm using Adobe Acrobat XI Standard and converting websites to PDF.  The converted PDF Page Size seems to be always in 11 x 8.5 in, although the PDF printer paper size is set by default to A4 (11.69 x 8.26 in).  To avoid distortion of the image, could you please advise how to set the converted page size automatically by default to A4 which is our standard paper size in our region?

You can specify the page size in the Web Page Conversion Settings.

  • Excel to Adobe PDF page size problems

I am using Excel 2007 on a Windows XP setup with Acrobat 9.0 PDFM OfficeAddin.  I want to convert my Excel sheets to 8.5"x11" size pages, but they come out as approx. 22"x30" pages.  I've checked the page size setting in Excel and the Adobe preference settings and they are both set for 8.5x11, but the pdf page size is always much larger!  What is causing this and what do I need to do to get 8.5x11 size pdf pages?
Thanks you for your help. I've pulled out most of my hair by now!

Change your printer to the Adobe PDF printer and then set the cell sizes in Excel. This is just the normal Excel adjustment to the printer.

  • Is it possible to Default "Choose page source by PDF page size" option in the "Print" dialog box?

I have an SSRS report that is rendered as a PDF file; the report has many columns and utilizes 11inx17in (Landscape) paper. However, once the report is rendered and users try to print the report they have to manually select the 'Choose Paper source by PDF page size' option in order to get the report to print on the correct paper (otherwise it defaults to standard letter size - landscape orientation).
I'm aware of 'Print Presets' functionality; however, I don't believe they apply to this scenario. Is there a config file/registry setting/anything that can be specified to automatically set the 'Choose paper source by PDF page size' print setting = On/True/Checked?
Any help would be greatly appreciated...

    Anybody out there?

  • Adobe Reader 11 "choose paper source by pdf page size" does not work

    Hello,
I have a user that utilizes the "choose paper source by pdf page size" option when printing a PDFs. He has a PDF that has a letter sized page and a legal sized page.
I recently upgraded his Adobe Reader from 10 to 11 and now that option isn't working for him. The printer is an HP LaserJet M2727nf MFP.
Are their any bugs regarding that feature in the new Adobe Reader?
    Thanks!

If you have not updated Acrobat, try that before you go further. Currently AA9 is at 9.5.1.

  • Wrong PDF page size in Excel

When I use PDFMaker to "print" the print area of one particular spreadsheet, the Adobe PDF page size is 11.18 x 14.47 inches.
When I use Adobe PDF printer, the Adope PDF page size is 8.5 x 11.0.
    Excel Page size = Letter (8.5 x 11.0)
    Excel Page orientation = Portrait
Excel Page Parameter = Fit print area to 1 page x 1 page
    Selected Printer = Adobe PDF
Selected Paper size in Adobe PDF dialog boxes = Letter
Selected Paper size in PDFMaker Preferences = Letter
When I change the Excel Page Size to Tabloid (11 x 17):
Adobe PDF printer creates a page size of 11.0 x 17.0
Adobe PDF Maker creates a page size of 11.0 x 17.0
Can anyone shed light on the problem experienced by PDFMaker on the Letter sized request?
    I am running:
    Windows XP, SP3
    MS Excel 2007
    Acrobat 9.1.2
    PDFMOfficeAddin.dll version 9.1.0.0
    PDFMExcel.dll version 9.1.0.0

    Hello everyone!
It's been long since this topic was active but I just wanted to share my solution to a similar problem.
I was trying to use the built-in Save as PDF function of Excel 2007 and my sheet which also had some headers and footers was not coming out correctly.
From Page Layout tab, I clicked the small icon on the corner of the Page Setup. Then I clicked the Header/Footer tab and removed the tick next to where it says "Scale with document" and viola! I miraculously could export my sheet in the correct page size.
May this be helpful to not just who have had this problem before, but also the ones that will come afterwards!
    Cheers!

  • Selecting "choose paper source by pdf page size" causes page to print as mirror image thumbnail

Printing from acrobat reader 9.3.4 to a bizhub C220 printer/copier using the postscript driver in XP sp3. when you select "choose paper source by pdf page size" the document prints mirror image as a tiny thumbnail in the corner of the page? We have replicated the problem with different computers and other copier/printers. This does not occur when using the PCL driver. Any ideas?

Do you not get any options after you have selected print
then select Print using System dialogue
which then opend another box , where I select Layout
and can select how I want the document printed.
As you can see I do use an Epson Printer though, but this is the way when using Mac OSX

  • Acrobat 9 "Choose paper Source by PDF page size" prints as thumbnail

I have a customer who is trying to print a document that has different page sizes, eg. p.1 is 8 x 11, p.2 is 11 x 17. He can select the page size manually and everything works as expected. If you put a check mark in "Choose paper Source by PDF page size" it prints as backward thumbnails on 8 x 11. Selecting "print as image" makes it fill the page, but only prints on 8 x 11. Changing the printer driver to PCL did not fix, nor did installing an updated PS driver. All updates have been installed. I called tech support and they basically just gave me link to the script they use during troubleshooting. I also did a google search, but haven't come up with a valid answer. It is Acrobat 9 Standard on Win XP. Any advice is good advice.

    It's a Windows only feature: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/332/332720.html#main_Mixed_sizes

    Hi heathers,
You would need to print the file to a new PDF with the appropriate page size.

  • Xerox 7830 fails to obey "Choose paper source by PDF page size" option in Acrobat Pro -- Adobe issue or Xerox issue? Workaround?

Our former office printer (Xerox 7345) had no problem with this. But the new Xerox 7830 fails to obey the "Choose paper source by PDF page size" option in Acrobat Pro. Even the "Page Setup" is overridden by the Xerox printer driver. It is extremely annoying to have to go into the Xerox driver dialog every time, regardless of that check in the box and the correct dimensions being displayed in the picture.....

Unfortunately, not only does this not solve the problem with multi-page-size documents, but it's begun happening on files which are all one size as well, where that box isn't even checked.
It appears that what's happening is the newer versions of Adobe Acrobat don't play nicely with emulated postscript support past a certain date. We're replacing our Canon with a newer model that has actual postscript support, and if that resolves the issue I'll be certain to post confirmation here. Copies of Adobe Acrobat 7 and 8 in our office haven't seen this problem at all; it's simply everyone who has upgraded past that point that can't print reliably.
More news next week, after we get the new copier.

  • In ActiveX(OCX), How to Set "Choose paper source by PDF page size"

Using Adobe Acrobat Reader ActiveX(ocx) in Delphi 7.
I want to set "Choose paper source by PDF page size" value, in Source Code dynamically.
Do you know how to set in Source Code?  Not in Print Dialog Window.

  • Export "Adobe PDF Page Size" ?

    Hello:
Is there a way to export custom Adobe PDF Page Sizes from computer to computer?  We have a series of custom page sizes for Architectural sheets and currently we have to enter them manually for each computer in the office.
Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.

Seeing 750k described as a huge PDF is amusing when I often need to send files for print that are 750 mb or more.
That aside, exported PDF nearly always is larger than distilled PDF because it can include a lot more information like transparency and color management intents. The warning about fonts just means that the preset is set to not embed fonts during distilling to reduce file size (so the viewer must have the fonts on the system for viewing or printing properly), and ID always embeds fonts during export unless they are restricted, so not embedding your fonts will be ignored. You can unembed them using the optimizer.
So why is a 750k PDF too large? Perhaps there's a better format all around for what you are doing.

  • Saving Adobe PDF Page Size without Admin Rights?

Ok to get started, to define the limits of my environment for replication:
I'm using Windows XP SP3 and have tried Adobe Acrobat 8, 9, and X, my computer is on a network at work, and my user rights are limited.
    Open Printing Preferences, Click Add...
The "Add Custom Paper Size" window appears, give a new name and define sizes of the paper.
    Lets say I'm printing to a large format say 36" Tall by 108" Long (3ft x 9ft)
Click Add/Modify, the window goes away, focus again on Adobe PDF Printing Preferences. Click the drop down box for Adobe PDF Page Size:
The page size I just added to the list is not there!
The solution to the this problem is to have Administrative Rights to your machine in order to add custom paper sizes.
Note to Adobe Acrobat Programmers/Designers: please redevelop this feature to allow users to add paper sizes without Power User or Admin Rights. In a secure network these rights are not easily given out to every Dick and Jane that uses your software.

Interesting post, and for once, something one should be able
    to work with.
    I have a similar problem:
We're using a software distribution tool to install
msi-packages via rpc. Trying to distribute the latest flashplayer
works fine, but the users can't open flash-files, whether with
firefox nor internetexplorer tried 6 and 7 with latest patches.
I've found two possible ways to install a flashplayer plugin,
but both require manual input, which is just not possible for
    >100 Clients. just to mention: clean registry and then install
with admin rights or just run the installer with admin rights from
    the local machine.
Another problem is, that our company security policy
prohibits from using admin-rights for most installations.
    is there any workaround?
    regards
