HT1414 my Iphone is saying i need to restore but I do not want to i just want to cancel and go back to the main page slide bar
I plugged in my iphone to sync, and then got the picture of cable and saying have to log in to itunes and now its asking me to restore
I do not want to restore as I have not backed up my pics contacts etc and I did not sign up to cloud
PLEASE HELP!!!!
Is there any way to just go back to the slide regular and omit this stage to restore
there must be something you can do so I dont loose everything on my phone

Is the phone working if it is not connected to the computer? I would imagine it is not. If the same screen is being displayed, the only option you have is to restore. If you did not backkup the data prior to this, then you will not be able to recover it. At this point, the data is already gone.

Hold down the power button and home button at the same time until the phone powers on, shuts back off, powers on again and continue to hold it until it shows the itunes logo to plug in to itunes. This should allow you to restore without unlocking it.

It should have backed up automatically at the start of the update process. And you should be saving photos from your phone to your computer regularly, just like you would with any digital camera. If you were not doing this you MAY lose the photos, but if your backup at the start of the update was successful you will not. Just DO NOT sync after the update, until you have restore the backup and verified that it is OK.
What error message did you get during the update? Before you restore do the following:
Reboot your computer
Connect to a USB port on the computer directly, not a hub
disable your antivirus and firewall
Launch iTunes
Finally, connect the phone and restore. -

Force the phone into recovery mode:
If you cannot turn off your phone using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When your phone turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons. Then, leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, itunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new. -

Try restarting your router by removing power to it for 30 seconds. This may correct the problem.

Basically your player is telling you that you need to install the codecs that will play the compressed data within the AVI file.
AVI is a legacy file container in which the tracks of data are interleaved to maintain synchronization. This data can be encoded using many different audio and video codecs. Your problem is to determine which codecs you need for the player you are trying to use and install them if they are available. Failing that, your will either have to play the files in a different player which has the codec support your require built into the app or convert the content to a compression format that is natively compatible with the player you wish to use.
Since you have not stated what platform, operating system, and particular player you are targeting for playback, it is difficult to provide precise instructions for fixing your specific problem at this point. Suggest you try alternative players compatible with your system and platform to see if they will play the files, use a dedicated media information utility to determine the codecs needed for playback, or post a sample file for analysis. -
This has happened doing the latest software update. I think I accidentally deleted iTunes before doing the latest update in trying to make room on the phone when it came up with limited space.
My iPhone is locked with the connect to iTunes logo on screen. I have connected and trying to restore but it is not working. I have turned it on and off but to no avail.

just updated my ipad4. now its in recovery mode it wont leave it and even tried that fancy little home and lock screen trick. It is telling me i need to restore. I do not want to because i have not backed up my pictures. HELP!!!!!!!
It's too late now to worry about not having backed up. You have to restore the iPad or .....
A. You can have a device that still has all of the photos on it but you can't get to them because the device doesn't work
or.....
B. You can restore, lose the photos and have a functioning device again. -

New Computer and Now Everytime I Connect My iPhone It Says It Needs To Restore?
I got a new lap top at Christmas and successfully transferred my music and pictures via USB from my old computer to a new computer. I successfully synced my phone to my lap top (I can't remember if it went into restore mode the first time I connected it). Now whenever I connect my phone to iTunes, it says it does not recognize the phone and it needs to restore to factory settings. I have authorized my computer so I don't believe that's the problem but I can't figure what else to do. I keep having to back up my phone everytime I connect it to my computer because it causes me to lose everything if I don't.

As an iPhone user myself, I know it must be very much a problem to have the phone out of service because of an error such as you are seeing. Let's see if we can get you back up and running.

I downloaded Firefox 4.0 and it says to re-install the toolbar but I have not been successful in doing so. I went to the forums and tried all the suggested fixes but none worked. Can I go back to the older version? I had no trouble with that and I do not like this new version at all. I tried a system restore twice and it did not fix the problem.
I would imagine it's the MyWay Searchbar which is classified by most anti-malware scanners as adware, or even worse as spyware. I say that because I see "SmileyCentral" in your list of plugins and that's an add-on for that particular toolbar. You can disable that via Tools | Add-ons | Plugins.
There are a number of toolbars which won't work with Firefox 4 anymore due to the enhanced protection mechanisms in the browser.
Mozilla recommends that you only install add-ons from its own security site @ https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/?browse=featured Generally speaking, those have all been tested and approved. The exceptions are those currently under review which are marked with a yellow banner to warn users that they haven't passed Mozilla's labs yet.
