HT1476 should ipod touch be left plugged in after fully charging
Can the ipod touch be left plugged in after fully charging? Can leaving it plugged in help extend battery life or is it harmful to the battery?
It does not harm the battery. For maximum battery life Apple recommeds that you almost fully discharge and then fully charge the iPod's battery monthly.

IPod touch will not turn on although fully charged. Only had it three days.
My iPod touch has been working fine until today. I updated the software about four hours ago fine but after a while it turned itself off and will not turn back on. Have charged it for an hour and still won't turn on and tried to connect to my PC via USB but it doesn't recognise there is a connection. Where do I go from here ? Back to the shop ?
Try to do this:
First press the Power On/Off button for two seconds, than press the Home button (keeping the Power one pressed) until the screen "blink" and reapears the Apple logo (don't worry about your informations, they will keep up) -

My ipod touch battery shows up empty after being charged
Hi, I have had my Ipod touch generation four for a few months and I have noticed in the past week that the battery doesnt show up charged after being fully charged it just displays empty. When I go into an app or a game the battery shows up green and fully charged. So far I have done a full restore and it didnt change the battery at all. The only thing that I had changed in the past week was I downloaded an album onto my computer then put it into my ipod and downloaded a game. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

I recently bought a new iPod 5gen and the iPod dosent hold it's charge it stays at 40 sometimes 20 percent half an hr goes by and it says it's fully charged once I unplug it it says it has 20 percent what can I do to fix it or what can I do about it?
- See:
iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
- Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
- Try another charging source
- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

what do i do? do i go get it fixed or what?
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

My 1st gen ipod shuffle, since the last update is seen as my ipod touch everytime I plug it in... any suggestions?
I have tried to clear temp folder, uninstalled, and reinstalled itunes version 10.5.1.42... ipod touch 4th gen is seen fine. But when I eject this and plug in my old shuffle... itunes still reports it as ipod touch. The only suggestion I have is to try and rename your device in iTunes to something else by clicking it's current name from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes and typing in a new one.

I got a usb charger for my 4th gen Ipod touch that at first allowed my to charge and transfer music from my laptop to the Ipod now nothing happens when I plug the usb cord and Ipod into my laptop. Its mac so it is an apple system. I am wondering how I can fix this problem I am not very good with techy stuff so this is very confusing how it was working and it just stopped.
Hi johnsmiff99,
That is never fun when your iPod touch does not show up on your Mac. Take a look at the article below to walk you through on getting it to show back up on your iTunes. It is very easy to read so you wont feel overwhelmed with to much techy jargon. Let me know if you get this worked out.

Reset your iPod. Hold the power and the home button for 10 seconds till the iPod restarts. No data will be lost.

I have an ipod touch, when you plug it into itunes, it gives a message for recovery & restore. You click on OK, it will show extracting software, after extracting the software. Another message shows up restoring ipod, after awhile, it shows "ipod cannot be found." The restore will then terminate.

my niece has locked herself out of her ipod touch. when i plug it into the computer with the usb cable, a message on itunes says i have to enter her passcode. her ipod will not allow me to do so. what next??
Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

For how to restore:
iTunes: Restoring iOS software
To restore from backup see:
iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

IPod skipping iTMS songs - but only one account
Hi, I'm not sure what my iPod is exactly. It's a 40GB mono screen iPod, about five years old. I thought that made it a 'classic' but perhaps not... anyway. Since I updated iTunes last, the update deauthorised my accounts on my MacBook. One of these w
