HT1766 I did a restore and now my pictures are taking forever to download. Its been stuck on the same number for 2 days now. What should I do?
I had problems with my internet connection and I had called sprint. I was told I had to erase all contacts and settings. I backed it up on iTunes now when I went to restore, first I didnt get half of my apps back (had to go re-download them) and now It shows downloading 43 of 816 photos whenever I go to camera roll. Its been on the numer 43 for 2 days now ?? What should I do or is there anything I can do!
I would let it finish if it's proceeding. Then if they still aren't there, try restoring from backup again (by right-clicking on the name of your phone on the left panel of iTunes and selecting Restore from Backup, then choosing your most recent backup to restore from). Suggest you go to iTunes preferences and on the Devices tab check "Prevent...from syncing automatically". This will prevent iTunes from automatically syncing when you connect your phone and overwriting the backup you are trying to restore to.

Hold the power button down for 10 seconds. It will power down your Mac. You can then start it up again and see if you can log in normally.

I have no clue what I'm doing. I held the home and lock button and ignored the slide to power down screen. Now my phone has been locked on the apple logo for two hours. i plugged up my phone and it said i needed to restore it to factory settings so i did and now its stuck on a screen that shows i need to plug my phone up to itunes and restore it but my phone is already connected to itunes. ive tried resetting my phone and it just goes back to that screen and i have also tried to unplug and plug my phone back but it still keeps getting stuck at the 'preparing iphone for restore' bar thing at the top. how long is this process supposed to take? i was only trying to put one song on my phone and i had done it yesturday with no problem and the day before that. please help
I had this issue also. My last restore took 2 hours, despite restores under 1.x taking something like 20 minutes.
I don't think it's the videos/podcasts, as those don't show up until synchronizing after the restore anyway.
I asked this same question a while ago, but no one responded. I'm not sure if its normal. -

Try and force iPad into Recovery Mode:
1. Turn off iPad. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, slide to turn off.
2. Connect USB cable to computer; leave the other end alone
3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
5. Release the Home button
6. Open iTune (make sure you have the newest version of iTune)
7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
8. Use iTune to restore iPad
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad -
Did a restore, and now my iPhone will not activate, though the iOS activation server seems to be "green"
SIM card is inserted, connected to wifi, and connected to iTunes though it tells me it is "unable to continue at this time"

I had to update the software on my iphone 4 so I could get icloud and backup everything on my phone, so I can go this morning and get an iphone 5, but when I did it did a restore and took everything off my phone, like aps, pictures and music. They are in the itunes library, but I dont know how to get them back on my phone. It only allows me to sync with my phone, which is empty???
Can anyone help me?If the information is in iTunes on the computer you have synced with in the past another sync, being sure you select the items you want on the iphone, should copy those things back to the iPhone.

Do you have Sidebar ON?
iTunes > View > Show Sidebar.
Connect and select iPhone in iTunes Sidebar under DEVICES, choose the Music tab on the right, select Sync Music and whatever music you the on iPhone. Click Apply (bottom right) -

Hi, hope someone can help, I am not Mac savvy. I had a system failure for some reason, and did a complete restore from a backup drive, and now no System Preferences. I had since also had the backup disk fail, so no other backups to work from. I am currently trying to restore these with a file salvage software.
The system runs fine, but, I cant change anything in the preferences. The PrefPane list is still there in the same file PreferencePanes. Thank You

Hopefully not.
Here's the thing: your Mac is older and I do not know if it has the updated firmware so you actually have a recovery partition (part of every OS since Snow Leopard - takes the place of install DVDs).
So, you can test that: choose restart from the File menu and when you hear the bong, immediately hit Command + R. If you get a grey screen with one window on it like this:
If you see this, choose to reinstall OS X and it should install the current system.
If your regular desktop appears, then you don't have a recovery and will need to start from the Snow leopard DVD (insert CD, choose restart and hold down C key) and then reinstall from there. You won't need Lion - just update Snow Leopard and then re-download Mavericks. -
also this is the second time I have had to restore Ipad
I know how to reset time. It just want stay fixed. Its about three hours behind. The time zone is right, and set to automatic. The question on restore. I have had t0 restore twice now. I am not doing anything that I know that would cause it to crash.
When it crashes, you want know untill the next time you start up the pad from being turn off. -
Why did I lose my old documents on Pages and Numbers when I updated my computer. I didnt need a new version. I have been using the same hand outs for 8 years. Some I can see, some say you cant open unless you buy numbers.....again
The old version of iWork should still be on your computer.
Check in Applications (Command-Shift-A) for an iWork '09 folder.
