Yes, the store didn't properly activate the card. If the store is nearly then you could try going back and asking them to do so, if it isn't (or if they can't/won't help) then try contacting iTunes Support (you will probably need to give them images of the front and back of the card, and possibly its receipt) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then iTunes Cards And Codes

Tried to restore my ipod touch 4th gen but it says "The ipod software update server could not be contacted" Please help!

Ok so I reset my ipod touch 4th gen and it got stuck on the apple logo screen and holding down the buttons just made it turn off for a few seconds and go straight back onto the logo screen, nothing was happening with it connecting to itunes either. But I held the home and the power button down at the same time while connected to my laptop and then when the logo reappeard I released the power button and it came up with with the itunes logo and the usb logo. It then allowed me to select restore on itunes which I did but a box popped up saying "The ipod software update server could not be contacted. make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later." Please help.

You will need to try changing the email address on the first account and see if you can then re-use it on a new account - you can try changing the email address via http://appleid.apple.com or by logging into it via the Store > View Account menu option on a computer's iTunes (if you don't have a spare email account then you can create one via http://gmail.com or http://hotmail.com)

iTunes has to contact Apple to send your agreement to the new conditions, but your security software has to allow this contact. If blocked, you'll get a time out message. Have you forgotten your password? - if so, you have a problem if the email address has gone dead.
If you know your password, go to the iTunes Store, click on Account. log in and you can change the associated email address.
If you don't know your password, and have no email address, you are going to have problems because it's difficult to see how Apple are going to identify you as the authorised owner of the account. Contact iTunes Support: go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ - click on 'Other iTunes Store Features' in the list and then on 'Podcasts'. Somewhat much later query but I do have a related one. I've purchased my iPad 2 in India in October past. Using an adaptor for Canada I seem to have no problems charging it. Now I'm travelling to Chile and I see there is a 'similarity' in the two prongs on the electrical cord which came with the iPad (India) AND a similar pair of dual prongs used in Chile. I note Chile also uses a 3 - prong (horizontal) outlet. Query - Should I have any concern re the different currents used ; Canada 120V - 60 Hz versus Chile 220 - 50 Hz, or as noted earlier the iPad takes care of that with its built in converter.
