HT1926 I've successfully updated itunes and quicktime on windows XP but itunes won't run properly, the video tutorial loses audio after about 1-2 minutes and when I plug in my iphone 4s to sync the whole thing freezes, any ideas?

Hi everyone,
was prompted to upgrade itunes on my PC and also upgrade the software on my iphone 4s.Went through as usual but took 3 goes to get a successful upgrade of itunes on the PC. Then was prompted to update quick time, this was done successfully.
Thought I'd look at the tutorial video for itunes - the sound went off 11/2 minutes into it, then I couldn't stop it. I had a quick look around itunes and decided to sync my phone. The program recognised the phone then everything froze. Windows message for a non responding program came up and had to pull out of the program. So far after several hours I have not been able to get beyond stage 2 of 7 of syncing the phone; it keeps freezing up at different stages.
Any ideas?? I haven't had this kind of trouble before with any other version of itunes.

I upgraded to iTunes 10.5, and now when I plug in my iPhone 3gs i get the Beach Ball of Eternal Sadness. I have to Force Quit the app, and I cannot sync my iPhone. This also means I cannot upgrade to the new iOS5.

My OS is current and up to date. No problems there.... Intel based iMac, relatively new....
But since i did the upgrade to iTunes 10.5 i cannot sync my iPhone. It's a 3gs. Oddly - my wifes iPhone will load and sync (it is a first gen iPhone, btw).
Neither device is, or evr has been jailbroken. mY iPhone was syncing perfectly until the upgrade to 10.5.

Had the same thing happen to me when I tried syncing my iPhone this a.m. - talked to Apple 7 hours ago and evidently there's an "issue" with the iTunes server. The Apple adviser told me to try syncing in an hour. Well, rather than do that, I've continued to check Twitter, searching on "itunes sync" or "itunes server" - seems the problem's still going on.
I'm going to wait it out til tomorrow. Or whenever.
The REASON I was synching is that ever since the iOS 5 "upgrade" photos that were in albums synced from iPhoto had disappeared. Not all the photos, just all the photos in some albums. Weird.
Too many bugs in iOS 5 (syncing, Bluetooth connectivity, etc.). They should have waited til it was right before releasing it.

When I plug in my iphone 4s to sync to my windows computer it opens itunes but when it prepares to sync I keep getting a message that says itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. But this only happens when I connect the iphone.

I am able to connect my ipod and even just play itunes sucessfully. I have re installed itunes and the same problem presisits.

Make sure that your music is in the format supported by the iPhone. I use either MP3 or AAC.
A friend had the same problem a while back. All his music was in the WMA format and is therefore not playable on the iPhone and would not copy. Once he converted his songs to MP3 they copied to his iPhone without problem.

Why does my Macbook pro said "unplug the device using too much power to re-enable USB devices" when i plug in my iphone's charger to connect my phone with the mac?

Symptoms:
1)   Sync: It’s not completing the sync. Below, I’ve provided all of my settings from the iTunes Summary tab so that you might tell me if I’ve selected any incorrect options. I prefer to sync the “old school” way – by connecting to the computer – as opposed to syncing over the cloud. Perhaps this is what’s causing the problem? Here is a list of the steps displayed in the iTunes window as the sync progresses:

2)   Photos: I've selected only certain of my iPhoto albums to sync to my iPhone. All of the albums are correct/complete in iPhoto. All of the albums are listed on my iPhone, both before and after the sync, but the albums are empty (no actual photos) before and after the sync. Perhaps this is tied to the fact that the sync isn’t completing, but because “importing photos” is one of the steps that the incomplete sync displays, I don’t know.
3)   Apps: When I launch iTunes and click on the Apps folder under the Library listing, then click on the Updates tab, iTunes searches for any Apps needing to be updated and provides a list. If I click on Update All, the Apps are successfully updated in iTunes. But, when I plug in my iPhone so that the updates will transfer to the apps on my iPhone, the updates don’t transfer to the apps on my iPhone and those apps still reflect that they need updating on the iPhone.
Other Potential Pertinent Info:
The flash memory hard drive on my MacBook Air recently died (perhaps a month or two ago). Apple had emailed me about a known issue and literally the next day, my MacBook Air crashed. I installed a new flash memory drive and re-installed everything from a backup off of an external hard drive. Everything seems to be working fine; it recreated accurately all of my software and data, including iPhoto and iTunes, the pictures and songs (respectively) for which are stored on that hard drive, as opposed to being on the flash memory in the MacBook Air itself. However, I don’t recall if the start of the sync problem described herein started happening at the same time that I replaced the flash memory drive. All I know is that the computer is working perfectly in all respects and that even as the sync is failing, it at least says that it’s doing the right things and looking in the right places (e.g., the list of albums on my iPhone matches the list of albums in iTunes, etc.).

You need to download iTunes on your computer. iOS 6 requires the latest version of iTunes which is 10.7.

I noticed this problem, iTunes displayed my iphone, but crashed soon after, with the color spinning wheel.
I did the following things and it worked for me.
I downloaded the last version of itunes, remove iTunes.app with CleanApp, and all these files.

I restarted, installed iTunes, restarted again and I was able to sync again.

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, does your device connect without that message now?

I had to re download itunes on my computer and when i plug in my iphone it says im connected to a different itunes library. is there a way to sync my iphone to the new library without erasing the stuff on my phone?

On my laptop i had itunes but recently i needed to delete everything on my laptop including itunes. When i went to update the music on my iphone i re downloaded itunes but when i plug in my iphone a message pops up saying my phone is connected to another itunes library. Syncing shouldn't trouch you photos unless you have photos in a Photo Library album. These would be photos that were synced to your phone from your computer. If you do have any, you'll need to use an app like PhotoSync to transfer them to your computer prior to syncing.
If you prefer to backup your camera roll photos prior to syncing, open iTunes and go to Preferences>Devices and check "Prevent...from syncing automatically". Then connect your phone to your computer and import them as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.
Then, to minimize data loss, follow the steps in this user tip: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141. To follow the steps, first open iTunes and go to View>Show Sidebar. Also, Transfer Purchases is now located in File>Devices.

On your phone: Settings>General>Usage>Music...tap the Edit button...then the red minus sign. This will delete all music on your phone.
