HT201210 After matching 10870 of 12688 "songs" (Tracks) in the A-D section of y classical CD collection, iTunes freezes

I have an 8 GB 64-bit PC with Windows 7.0 and 900 GB disc memory, plus a 4 TB external hard drive. Have loaded only a small part of my CDs  into iTunes, with no probled, save that there is a low match rate for artwork.
I bought iCloud, figuring on putting the entire library into the cloud to serve my iPods, new iPad (64 GB 4G) but after Step #1 of iMatch checked the tracks, and upload began - which took more than 24 hours - the upload stopped at 10,870 tracks of the 12688 I've loaded into iTunes.
Now, nothing - I select "Match" , and the program freezes on Step #3, then is shut down by Windows with the note "unspecified error".
I suspect my allotted space is full - can I add more? Or have Ijust wasted my time and money?

Is this a NAS type of setup (of which I know very little)?  Mine is not a response based upon strong technical knowledge but iTunes seems to have problems with those.  Just about everybody has issues with iTunes but you say it is not fit  for the purpose.  What is that?  I bet for 99% of people it does.  Not  everybody has 8TB collections they are trying to use with a RAID structured  external server. iTunes is really a mass consumer piece of software.  Yes, many people have expanded beyond internal drives, but NAS arrangements seem to add levels of complexity beyond a direct external drive that is Mac formatted and at most served by an Apple brand wireless router which I suspect is probably how everything is tested. Anything more is fortuitous in terms of support.  Except that you say the library files are on the external drive too it sounds to me like the server is asleep when you say it cannot find files and then suddenly can when you go to find one.

    You're welcome.
Going back to your original post:
    5) Tried running Itunes in 'safe mode', running itunes as an administrator..nothing.
Was that iTunes' safe mode as opposed to Windows' safe mode? iTunes safe mode is invoked by holding down CTRL+SHIFT immediately after clicking the icon to launch iTunes and continuing to hold until this message pops up:
Click continue, then close iTunes and reopen. With luck iTunes now opens normally every time.

  • How long after match update/upload before songs are available on iPhone?

It's been two days since iTunes Match update & upload from my desktop and the songs still are not available for download on my iPhone.  Very annoying.

On the iOS device turn off iTunes Match, launch the Music app and let the content clear out, then re-enable iTunees Match.

  • HT4915 How do you reindex a corrupted match database? (ie songs appear with the wrong artist, album & title information)

I am seeing that my songs of uploaded to match are corrupted in the database. The details of the tracks have the wrong title, album and artist.
But if the song is in a playlist it still plays ok, just says it's a different track, artist etc.
Guess I'd like to simply delete the registry, and re 'match' my songs correctly.

Can anyone please answer my question?

  • So i recently bought "Paranoid" from Avenged Sevenfold, it was a cover from Black Sabbath's. I saw the song was in the "Various Artists" section. Is there anyway i can put that song in Avenged Sevenfold's list of songs by their "Artist" category?

  • My Itunes library is messed up. Wong titles. Wrong albums. Wrong everything. EX. I play a song by avenged sevenfold but then it plays a song by eminem. Song titles dont match what they play and neither does the artists name

My Itunes library is messed up. Wong titles. Wrong albums. Wrong everything. EX. I play a song by avenged sevenfold but then it plays a song by eminem. Song titles dont match what they play and neither does the artists name. Can I restart everything from itunes? I know this sounds cunfunsing, (and it is) but yeah.
Once again to try and clarify, The song(which itunes says is by artist, band, person, etc) is mixed up with another song out of my libary.
If there's something you dont get ask me!!! thanks

I'm experiencing the same issue. Not only do I get a messed up library, but since I've let iTunes handle my music files, they too have been shuffled around - placed in different album folders and sometimes given names of other songs... With quite a large library, the cleanup makes me feel a bit like Sisyfos pushing the rock uphill - it's a never ending story. Only positive side of this is that I get to play a lot of music quizzes while guessing who plays the song that is disguised as eg. Buddy from De La Soul, and then afterwards try to track down the real 'Buddy' as this has also found another folder to hide in...
Shazam has come to the rescue a few times so far...
@Apple: this is just not good enough!

  • ITunes Match: Can't delete remaining files from the iPhone

Connected to iTunes Match today: All my songs are in the cloud, the color scale overview shows 0,12 GB (?) for audio files. Still there are almost 500 songs (1,7 GB) in the Device(iPhone)/Music submenu. Some of these are active, some are deactivated, but I can't delete both. On my iPhone, I deleted all remaining songs by "swipe and delete", all songs there show the cloud symbol.
How can I delete the remaining files?
    Thank you, Martin

  • ITunes "Updates" every song synced to the iPod every time it is connected

Since the update of iTunes to 9.1.1, every time I connect my 3G iPod Touch (32GB) to my Macbook iTunes "Updates" every song synced to the iPod. I have seen this before when iTunes has a new revision, but it usually only happens the first time the iPod is attached after iTunes is updated. Now, it is happening every time.
I have restored the iPod to its virgin state, but that did not change anything. Any ideas?

  • Deleting Tracks from the IP 4G

I saw a discussion a while back which said there was no way to delete tracks from the i pod 4g unless you did it through itunes. Is this the case? I cannot find a way to do it, but then my "hd" and it's "ram" isn't what it used to be, if you know what I mean.

*I saw a discussion a while back which said there was no way to delete tracks from the i pod 4g unless you did it through itunes. Is this the case*
    That is correct
*I cannot find a way to do it*
How you delete content from your iPod depends how you have it set to update:
If you are updating automatically (syncing) all songs and playlists then delete the files from the iTunes library. In the iTunes Library highlight the file and press the delete key on your keyboard. If you're updating the iPod from a selected playlist delete the song from the playlist and it will remain in the library.
To select multiple items such as all the songs in an album, click on the first track in the list hold down the shift key and click on the last track to highlight the selection. Then press the delete key. Next time you connect they will deleted automatically from your iPod.
If you are updating manually, connect your iPod and when it shows in the iTunes source list click on the chevron (the little triangle) to the left of the iPod icon This will display the various icons for the iPod itself, Music, Movies, TV Shows and Playlists. Click on Music and you'll see the usual song list. Find the files on your iPod that you want to remove, highlight them and delete directly as above by pressing the delete key on your keyboard.
To summarise, you start by highlighting the song/video/selection in either the iTunes library or on the iPod song list as displayed in iTunes then press the delete key on your keyboard: Deleting songs or playlists from your iPod

  • ITunes freezing when importing songs on MBP 15 in.

Hi everyone, I recently received my MacBook Pro and have since been adding all the files and music that I want on there. Anyway, for some reason, my iTunes has been having random problems importing some of my CDs. It will seem very slow at importing and then midway through on any given song, it will all of the sudden make this continous read noise and be stuck on the same data. So I don't know if this is an iTunes issue, my optical drive issue, or a firmware issue and any help would be greatly appreciated.

i have upgraded the RAM with Patriot, and have experienced these problems.
it seems like it only happens on the last song most of the time, and then i have to force quit itunes and wait a few minutes to eject (the superdrive doesnt realize immediately recognize that the drive is no longer in use).
i was hoping there was a fix in itunes 7, but to no avail.
has anyone tried a different program? i dont really know what all is available to macs on that end. also, once we find a solution (or apple does), any idea on how to import faster? it surprises me the speed that the MBP reads the cd. maybe im just selfish!

  • Missing Tracks in iTunes Browser after Match activated

After iTunes Match successfully completed, not all tracks are found when using the iTunes Browser.
For example, selecting the Music icon on the left, ensuring that All Genres, All Arists and All Albums are selected within the Browser, I scroll down within the Artist window and select Artist "ABC" . Only three items appear, all of which are music videos.
However, when I enter "ABC" in the search bar, the 3 music videos appear along with all of the band's music tracks and digital booklets.
All "ABC" albums and videos were purchased thru iTunes earlier this year with the same Applie ID as I currently use within the store.  None are marked as Complications and used to be found in the browser prior to activating iTunes Match.
Any ideas why they doen't appear when using the browser?

Same issue here... Found them on another disk though... iTunes will just say the files are missing and wil not process them. They'll be marked with an exclamation mark in front of the track name when in the numbers view. I first had to re-link the files (thus iTunes copying them to my iTunes Music folder) and then had to run iTunes Match again.
Sorry, iguess no workaround here. I may dsuggest you find a copy somewhere and then re-download them from the cloud.

  • Skipping the song after a few seconds on certain tracks

hi, I have spent hours trying to find something about this and there's nothing anywhere, this is getting really annoying.
I bought a 2g ipod nano in February and here's my problem. When i play certain songs, the Ipod will stop after a few seconds and jump to the next one. It happens always on the same song, however I can make it work if I manually skip some of the song by holding the forward button, but it still might jump to the next one after a few seconds. Anyway, I missed a good part of the song in the process and I have to do it all the time. This is annoying because on some albums, I miss up to 4 or 5 songs. I don't think that's what you expect after spending $150 on a new toy.
I noticed it does that on songs that are irregular, with breaks in them. I have restored, reset, erased the songs and replaced them, looked into all the options possible, through the forums and the internet and cant find a good answer. please help me!

    thanks for all the help.
now, went to play with those options and it doesn't change anything. I even try to set it up so it would skip the first 3 seconds of the song since it's where it stops. To no avail. just stopped at 7 seconds...
So, it's not the track, it's not the gapless option (on or off doesn't make any difference), it's not the Ipod program (reinstalled it several times). What is it then???

  • Once I "match" and upload my songs, will newly added albums (from LPs) automatically be uploaded/matched after the initial batch? Do I have to keep the initial batch on that Mac?

No. However iTunes Match is not a backup service: FAQ: Why iTunes Match Can Not Be Used as a Backup

  • Itunes Match won't stream certain tracks after IOS 6.1 update

OK...so...I updated to IOS 6.1 and now itunes match won't stream ANYTHING over 45 minutes long if it's over a 3G connection and not wireless.  Being that itunes match is primarily for use outside of the house i'm wondering; how can this be useful to anyone?  I have a lot of shows on my itunes that are three hours long but now (due to the update) i can't listen to any of them...unless i'm in the house...which is not why i bought itunes match.  Anyone got any ideas as to why this is happening?

I'm unfortunately in exactly the same situation. Following update to 6.1 on my iPhone 5, I'm prompted every 10 seconds to enter my iTunes password if I re-enable iMessage logged in as my iTunes account rather than phone number.
I have not found a way to make it stop prompting so iMessage is currently not useable by me.  This is quite frustrating, Apple's standards have been on a rapid decline for some time. I'm at the point now where I'm reluctant to install updates when they come out due to the frequent regressions such as this I've encountered.
If anyone has a solution, I'd love to know.

  • After doing "remove from iCloud", songs are actually still up there!

I noticed a strange thing. I uploaded my own bands songs to iCloud via iTunes Match. There was some problem with the custom artwork and it got really messy (ID3 tags somehow couldn't be edited anymore in iTunes), so I decided to delete every trace of the songs from either OSX/iOS or iCloud.
So I deleted them from my library and deleted them from my iCloud ("also delete from iCloud"). They of course disappeared from iCloud on all my iOS devices.
I then copied "clean" tracks without any ID3 tags (the only thing that remained the same were the file names) to my hard drive and then imported them to the iTunes Library and turned on iTunes Match
To my surprise, iTunes Match MATCHED THEM and did not re-upload them. That means they stayed in iCloud despite the "delete from iCloud" step...
    How is that possible?
That is a big problem, because lets say I upload 128kbit mp3 of an Album that cannot be matched. Then I decide to dig up the original CD, re-rip it in 256Kbit AAC and re-upload to iCloud. But how can this be done, if the old version still remains in the iCloud, even after "delete from iCloud" step in iTunes???

    Hi,
I presume the iCloud status was originally shown as Uploaded. Are you saying that the iCloud status is now showing matched? I am not convinced that previously deleted songs are removed from apple's database. I have noticed that previously deleted songs are automatically show as uploaded immediately without going through the upload process again!!
However, if you re-ripped a cd at 256kbs AAC in place of a 128 mp3, i think that the new version would be matched or uploaded.
