Hi guys, looking for some assistance with my 3GS. A few weeks back it started playing up. Shutting down suddenly and the like. Now, it's failing to start up. When I connect it to a wall charger, the apple logo comes on and after a short while it vibrates and then gives the 'connect to iTunes' message. The minute I disconnect from the wall, it just shuts down. If I keep it connected at the wall it goes through the above sequence before shutting down and repeats the cycle again and again.
I've tried all the 'recovery' methods without any success. The device is not recognised by iTunes. I've taken it to small independent repair outlets who say they can't repair it. Is there anything I can do or is it totally gone for good?

It MAY have a bad battery, and that may be all it needs. But you can't find out until you replace the battery, and then you might find out it's something different. It's a 4 year old phone; consider getting a newer model. If you take it to an Apple store they should be able to diagnose it. Make a Genius Bar appointment before going to avoid a long wait.

You probably need to restore your iPad now. Pay attention to the last part of this kb article where it explains about using recovery mode. You may need to restore the iPad using that method.

But that requires the computer to see the ipod. I am having the same problem and I keep being told to restore it, but you have to either get the ipod to turn on or have the computer see it in order to so that. Right now I have a pretty useless 32GB ipod touch cos I cant get the thing to turn on! I can only get the apple logo for like maybe 20 seconds and it goes away. Take it to whoever replaced the screen and see if they can help you.
iPhones are not user servicable and Apple does not sell iPhone parts at all. I'd be surprised if you were actually able to back it up at this point. It sounds like it's completely borked.

Ipod touch got wet and froze on the battery symbol. I forced a shut down and wasnt responsive. tried turning it on and it wouldnt. Later on white screen appeared followed by the apple logo

Leave the iPod off and place it in a container with dry rice to absorb moisture. Let it thoroughly dry.
Realistically, the chances of it working correctly again are slim, especially if the pop was sugared.

I have just realised what has caused the problem.
Yesterday I fitted an additional Homeplug with built in wireless N adapter ( I alreday have another type fitted from my main router position) The wireless system to my ipad is obviously "confused" . Having now removed the second homeplug and reset my ipad all is now ok

This happened once before and it charged after sitting for a day. So I tried it again but it didn't work. I don't know if it is still covered, I got it last july as a replacement for one that broke. How did you obtain these apps? All apps are DRM protected & tied forever to the account used to originally obtain them. They cannot be transferred to another Apple ID(account), nor can they be updated using any Apple ID other than the one that was used to originally obtain them.

Left fan in my MBP makes some weired noise when shutting down

Hi, my model is 2.4 Late 2008, few days ago the left side of my mbp dropped on the table because I forgot to take out the headphone when I stood up.. Now every times I turn off the computer, the left fan makes noises that sound like the fan is touching to the cover (when the fan slows down). What should I do now?

If a reset doesn't work, try and force iPad into Recovery Mode:
1. Turn off iPad. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, slide to turn off.
2. Connect USB cable to computer
3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
5. Release the Home button
6. Open iTune (make sure you have the newest version of iTune)
7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
8. Use iTune to restore iPad
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad

How is a 4S iphone reset when it is stuck on a picture of a blue music circle, the word iTunes under it, and a cable pointing to the circle.

It's trying to tell you to plug it into your computer running iTunes. It's in recovery mode and needs to be restored.
