hello can someone help every time i open iTunes i get a message an update to carrier settings is required but i update and still get same message any way to stop this message please

  • HT201270 Carrier Settings upgrade caused my LTE to drop to 3G

    Updating my version LTE iPad's carrier settings caused my network to drop from LTE to 3G on the spot. Turning cellular data off and then on didn't help, turning my LTE off and on didn't help. Restarting didn't help. I had to reset my device to factory settings and then re-activate it as a new device. Then I would instantly get LTE back. I'm going to avoid accepting any 'carrier settings' updates from now on. Just chose "Cancel"!

    Verizon doesn't have a direct way to contact them that I can find aside from calling. I posted in their support forum as well that I had the problem and the steps involved. So I feel like I've done my part to let them know that their carrier update clearly caused that problem for me. But now that I'm back up on LTE by avoiding the carrier update I'm happy. So I'm satisfied. I just wanted to post these notes here for others to find. I've seen on other forums people also noticing a loss of LTE without an explanation when they updated to iOS 6.1, which is when I was prompted for the carrier settings update as well. Restoring the ipad completely then fixed things for me.

    Have you tried a reset by pressing and holding the sleep/wake button and the home button for 20 seconds (maybe longer) until the Apple logo appears, ignore the red slider.  Then turn back on. You won't lose any data doing the reset.

    Since updating to iOs 5.1, my iPad 1 crashes so often it is unuseable.  It normally crashes when using Chrome or Safari - but also on other programs such as  MotionX GPS.  I've just "restored" it using itumes - and on the way out was invited to update the carrier settings.  It has an old sim card in it - which I no longer use since my iphone can run as a mobile hotspot.  So the question is - will updating the carrier settings help - or does anyone know some other majic that might work?

You may receive notifications from time to time to install new carrier-settings updates.
    Does your iPad crash for all apps and use or just specific things?
    If it only crashes on specific apps make sure the apps are updated if they are not already.
    Also you may need to look into doing a back up and restore to factory settings.

    No offense, but what carrier?  what data and what service? 
    I get a bogus window hovering in my itunes page, telling me I have to update information, that I don't want to manage. 
    I am not upset or unappreciative of your feedback, quite the opposite, I can't believe anyone actually monitors peoples frustrations. 
    I just want to make sure I don't allow information about me that is not necessary.  I just want to listen to music and have a phone and have an ipad. 
    Everything else about apple is way to propriatory. I don't want to do anything that isn't very simple. 
    Most importantly, there never seems to be any (human being) that can answer a telephone call anymore. 
    Contact us, means...send us an email about something you don't know anything about, and I don't even know that questions to ask.
    I am not allowed to be ignorant.  If I am I wait days for answers.....

    Carrier updates are sometimes issued to reslove issues the phone may be experiencing. Why don't you contact your carrier and ask what this update is all about.

  • HT201270 Update Carrier Settings (MacBook Pro + iPad)

    Using iPad in the UK on O2 carrier. 
    As of yesterday, iTunes keeps asking if I want to update the carrier settings of the iPad.  I've run the update more than once already and whenever I link the iPad to iTunes it asks me again.
    Did this happen to anyone?  Any solutions?  It is quite annoying...

    Sometimes your carrier may release important updates that the phone needs to work with them, maybe something is missing, its hard to tell, try these steps.
    Make sure your device is connected to the Internet.

    Why the hesitation to update? or better question, why do you care?
    If you want the best connectivity, do the update.  If you do not care if there are connectivity issues, don't do the update.  But at the same time, do not complain when you have connectivity issues.

    If your phone is factory unlocked, or officially unlocked by your carrier, updating will NOT re-lock the phone.  If it was unlocke by unauthorized methods, any update or restore will re-lock it.

    Have you tried a reboot? Hold down the power and home buttons simultaneously. Ignore the Slide to Power Off prompt if it pops up. The display should go dark, and the Apple logo should appear as it begins a reboot. This is a soft reboot - it does not erase data.

    Updated the new Carrier Settings today. Now all 3rd party apps on the iPhone crash on startup. Am I the only one experiencing this?

    Just wanted to post in the event someone else had the same issue. I did a restore and reset. All third party apps went away (poof).
    I had to manually re-install my apps from the app-store. Thank goodness iTunes tracks your previous purchases.
