Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99.
If you sign into the App Store and try to purchase Mountain Lion but the App Store says your computer is not compatible then you may still be able to upgrade to Lion per the following information.

To upgrade to Mountain Lion or Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion or Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax. It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.

If I download a video from my video camera to a new (current 1/12) iMac 21 inch, how can I burn it to a DVD using the computer itself. Is this possible? Do I need to buy additional software. Two salespeople at the Apple were a little confused about this. Thank you.
The DVD recorder I'm referring to is one I've use for years. It is not attached to my aging iMac in any way. I simply play the video from my camcorder (mini-dv tape based Canon HV20) into the DVD recorder and create a DVD that can be played in any DVD player. I can only do minimum editing so what goes in is what I get. This has been fine for creating dupes of the various things I shoot.
If I buy a new iMac (21 inch), I'd like to be able to download the video to the iMac through iMovie, work with it to whatever degree I wish, and burn it to a DVD that can also be played in any DVD player -- or to use as a master to dupe copies.
What I'm understanding from you and others is that this would be possible if Apple had included iDVD in the software that comes with the iMac, or if I purchase the iLife Family Pack, or buy the correct version of Toast. I'm hoping I can persuade Apple to sell me an iMac with iDVD installed.
Essentially I want to move from a basic process of creating DVD copies to the more sophisticated process of creating one from an iMac.

Music video that I PURCHASED says the requested url was not found on this server...***?
When I go to play music videos that I PURCHASED from iTunes I get a pop-up that says "The reuested URL was not found on this server" so I have to go to friggin' iTunes and remove and readd all of my music videos. I bought the ipod (Touvh 4G) about a month ago and the idiots say that it's out of warranty so I have to pay more money to the pirates to get an answer. Is there something I can do to keep this crap from happening?

Thanks for taking the time. Unfortunately no that does not solve it. Same as swipe it will get me there and it will show separate programs spaced out. The issue I am having is that all my open word files are bunched up in a pile on top of each other. I can see the edges of each one but I want them to be separated from each other enough that I can visually identify what file is what.

My now dead laptop was running Firefox 3.6. It died. Now I have my old iMac out of storage. It has Firefox 2.0.0.1 on it. I'm using it now. Check for updates says I can go as high as 2.0.0.20. I'd like to upgrade the iMac to the most current operating system it can work with (right now it's at OSX 10.2.8), and then get Firefox up to the most current version this can run. I tried searching for older firefox versions to download, but can't seem to find them on your website. (I used search term "download Firefox 3.5"). I did this to check and see what OSX version they can work with. Let me know what I need to do. Thanks!

I am having a issue installing Adobe Acrobat XI. I am running Windows 8.1. When go to install it gets an error. The error is with transform in registry and will not install product. I am looking at how I can fix this registry problem.
I have tried to uninstall all Abode Acrobat installations but one file remains and refuses to be uninstalled. It gives me this error : Error applying Transforms . I have re-installed JSDK1.4.2_03, set the "path" variable to "C:\JSDK1.4.2_03".
When I compile using "javac" I get an error saying "javac" is not recognised.
When I compile using "C:\j2sdk1.4.2_03\bin\javac Freq.java" no error is thrown.
Every time I try to run a java file, I always get the NoClassDefFound error. When run with the -verbose option, files are loaded from C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_03\bin - is this correct?
I have removed all previous references to java in the registry editor.

What is not right about this code??
Can anyone tell me what is not right about this code??? Ive have been trying to work it out for myself for the past 2hrs but cant seem to get it right. I'd recommend that you check for Mac User Group(s) in Orange County. That's where you'd likely find a diehard Mac fanatic who might want to add your 6500 to his/her collection. Even if you got nothing for it, it would be better than e-cycling it. I upgraded my 6500/275 with what was a "large" hard drive at the time (15 GBs), maxed the memory at 128 MBs, installed the 512K L2 cache card, a better ATI Rage Pro PCI graphics card, a USB PCI card, and an internal 56K modem. With it running OS 9.1, it did all of the pre-OS X stuff I needed it to do. As I previously mentioned, it's a nice-sounding MP3 player. Internet Explorer 5.1.7 (the final release from 2001) kept it useful for surfing the web up until 2005, when it became too outdated/incompatible with many web sites. Unfortunately, the demands of the internet and the need for a modern browser, as well as faster processing to digest it all, are what retired many older Macs from active duty. So my (2) 6500s and (3) 6400s (same tower design) sit in storage. There is one concern that I'll pass along: The motherboard has a 4.5-volt alkaline battery, that's a small, black plastic cube, secured in place by velcro. If your 6500 has been disconnected from electricity for a long time, the battery will undoubtedly be dead. Unlike the many Apple computers that used a small ½AA lithium battery (that I've never seen leak when completely dead), the 6500's battery can and usually does start leaking. Because the motherboard sits vertically oriented on its side edge when installed, the leaking battery will drip alkaline solution down the board, corroding any components in it path. I've seen motherboards ruined from this. If you're going to give it away or sell it, you might want to pull the motherboard (remove the two machine screws on the rear I/O panel, next to the pull tabs). Slide out the board and unplug the battery's small connector (has red & black wires), then lift up on the battery, while holding down the "toothed" velcro mount with something non-conductive, like a popsicle stick. Once it's free, dispose of the battery. If you're interested, a replacement can be purchased for about $5-$7 from battery specialty retailers - it's a Rayovac 870 or 871. Even if you don't replace it, removing one that will eventually leak is a good idea, (hopefully) before any damage is done.

Hi,I'm new here and I think my problem were discussed few times before.However,I tried to follow the solutions similiar to my condition but it does not work.My problem is whenever I plugged in the HP printer (Laserjet M1132 MFP) usb to my Macbook Air,a screen will pop-out and read as 'the disk inserted is not readable by this computer'.I even bought my Mac to the Mac store but the situation remains the same.Okay with other printer but not with my HP.Sigh.The HP printer worked just fine with other computers (not Mac).I'm really sick of it.Please help me.I once plugged in an external hard drive & started Time Machine with it.The printer problem started after that.However, the hard drive plug-in works just fine.

I reset the System Management Controller on my MBA. To do so requires shutting it down, keeping it plugged in to power (I also unplugged both USB connections), and then from a powered off state I simultaneously pressed Shift + Ctl + Option + Power (I did this once and it did not work so I tried again and did it 3 times just to be safe), then released them at once, then I pressed the power button. Problem solved.

I also tried uninstalling the using the repair Disk Permissions with Disk Utility and moved the HP Printer software accessories to the trash (you can search the web for how to do that but that did not solve the problem either). Neither of these options worked.
