Settings>general>resets>erase all content and settings.
That will put it back to its out of the box state. Set it up with your own apple Id.

This issue is blocking my access to iTunes and any other file from my home computer. It keeps on telling me that I have to autorise my computer to pass on files, yet, it seems, for all this to happen, I need to get logged in through the phone's Apple ID. This of course is different to my one on my computer - and I have no password for it.
This phone is not stolen!! I payed still a fair bit for it. Am still in contact with the previous owner. He doesn't know how to fix the problem either.
Would appreciate any suggestion ????

The apps you are trying to update were purchased with (and therfore permanently linked to) someone elses Apple ID. If you do not know the password then you need to delete the app and redownload/purchase it with your Apple ID.

I just had the same problem. And I found the solution, on Youtube.
The problem is that these ******** at apple designed the battery compartement, the distance between metal contacts too big.
That means the batteries plus or minus poles are not touching the corresponding contacts in the mouses battery compartement.
Most likely the battery doesn't get pushed up to touch the plus contacts.
I used a fingernail to push the battery up and tadaa, the green LED came on.
The guy in the Youtube video just put some folded aluminium foil under the minus poles for bridging the gap.

You will not be able to use a SIM to activate a Sprint Phone. The Sprint phones are CDMA devices and would have to be activated through Sprint. Your best bet if you would not want to use Sprint as a carrier, and do not have any intention to use the device as a phone to return it for a refund. You would have to have a Sprint contract to activate this phone.

Settings > iTunes and App Store > Apple ID = Sign Out... Then Sign In using the preferred Apple ID.
It should be Noted that anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID.

THis helps but I have a follow on... which is 2 parts. I have my own Apple ID but everytime I try to log into I tunes, their USER ID appears and I can't add my password since my USER ID does not show. How do I change that? Do you have a computer. You can't share music or apps from one mobile device to another. To share photos you need to use photo stream shared albums.

Go to a friend, authorize that pc.

Make a backup of your stuff (from the phone. apps/photos/music/blabla). Update your phone. The phone will restore the backup automatically.

It's been a while since my computer crashed and refused to work again and I cannot afford to get it fixed. It's been a long while since I was able to update it last. It's now told me it needs to be restored or something, but like I said, I don't have a computer to do that on. If I use someone else's computer, will it update and continue to work? That's because the Mac, OS X and the iLife apps that came preinstalled on the Mac all belong to the previous owner. The previous owner needs to call Apple care and have their Apple ID disassociated from the Mac. Then the hard drive needs to be totally erased and OS X and the iLife apps reinstalled using OS X Recovery.

Yes you can do it. I do it with 4 different devices all using the same Apple ID.
You need to associate different email addresses for each device in order to use those email addresses as the "contact at" email address. The reason the calls are dropping on you now is that what you are trying to do is like calling yourself on your own phone.
You can also create new iCloud accounts on each device simply to use for FaceTime, but I'm guessing that the users of the other two devices have their own email addresses which will make this work for you quite easily.

The seems to go against what Gail said and the issue you raised about buying dup apps was my first concern. If this other post is correct, how to I set a different "contact at" in the iPod Touch?
