HT203180 I shot a video clip on my iPhone 5 and emailed it to my mom. She can't open the video on her iMac, her iPad3, or her iPhone5. What is going on?
I have the latest software update. Mom has the latest software updates. She cannot open this video on any of her Apple devices. She has iPad3, iPhone 5, Imac. I cannot think of any reason that she can't open them. My wife can open the video on her iPhone 5, without problem. I texted and emailed the video. Is there something in the settings? That's what the 6,2 model indicates.There's an issue with the graphics module on that machine. There was a program in place to replace the motherboard within 3 years of purchase, but you're probably outside of that. Some folks have supposedly gotten theirs changed outside of that period, so you can try.

What you can do to use it is download gfxstatus from http:gfx.io and force the graphics to Intel. That would affect your work with Final Cut, but at least you might be able to use the machine. -

I have Aperture3 and iPhoto. When I try send video clips as attachments, I get a message saying Quicktime can't open the .avi - why? Others couldn't open them so I sent them to myself and get the same message. Doesn't seem to be a size issue as I've tried with really short clips (4 seconds). As I recall, I didn't have this problem before buying Aperture last fall, when I only had iPhoto. It appears that by default, an attachment to an email automatically comes from my iPhoto files and not Aperture - assume that is supposed to happen but not sure. Thanks for any and all help!

How are you tryin to send the .AVI file? Are you sending the attachment directly from Mail or from Aperture or iPhoto? -
When I rotate my video clip so that is isn't viewed sideways, it has black bars on both sides and some of picture is missing. Can I rotate the image so it plays rightside up without the black bars? The image was taken by an iPhone. I am viewing it on PC

Does someone know when our movie project and finally our iDVD project is done, can we erase the clip that we had imported in iMovie without danger? Or we have to keep the clip in iMovie until the DVD are burn?

Most processes in Non destructive Video editing is based on that the raw-material is safe and intact. So by trashing it most things can or will go wrong.
So e.g. in iMovie project - there is NO Movie - just a small text document refering to Your raw-material, audio files and photos (within or not in iPhoto Library) on how they are to act together to Play Your Movie.
And by changing any of them the Movie project will be affected or destroyed.
reg. iDVD there is also a link back to iMovie - Most famous to set of the iDVD BUG !
To do that - one starts a new iDVD project and add movies etc. Then find something i one movie in need to be adjusted. Closing iDVD and returning to iMovie and doing this. Then when back to iDVD it will notice and ask You to Up-date or Cancel. Neither works. The iDVD project is harmed. All Chapters now point to Chapter One and more strange things happens.
the medicine I use - I start a brand new iDVD Project and re-do it and hopefully not fine any more to be fixed in the movie.
This indicates the strong link inbetween iDVD and iMovie and I would not touch anything in iMovie till DVD is Burned and Ready AND Plays Well !

There are many forms of ‘Malware’ that can affect a computer system, of which ‘a virus’ is but one type, ‘trojans’ another. Using the strict definition of a computer virus, no viruses that can attack OS X have so far been detected 'in the wild', i.e. in anything other than laboratory conditions. The same is not true of other forms of malware, such as Trojans. Whilst it is a fairly safe bet that your Mac has NOT been infected by a virus, it may have another security-related problem, but more likely a technical problem unrelated to any malware threat.

I have Photoshop CS5 and a Nikon D 810 camera. I have downloaded Camera Raw 8.8 & DNG converter. I can neither open the raw files (.nef), nor process them with the DNG converter. What is going wrong? Thanks!

had a new hard drive installed last month. now iphoto won't start up, popup says "you can't open the application iphoto because it may be damaged or incomplete". can this be repaired without going to the repair shop?
What installed iPhoto there in the first place? Was it the same version of iPhoto that came with the Mac? Was iLife added at a later time from a Mac Box Set? You can selectively install iPhoto, and then apply the appropriate iLife update without taking it to the shop, after removing the application, or recover it from your backup.

I think those files are Samsung's proprietary format, so only the Samsung software can open and display them. If they do not make their software for OS X, then you are stuck requiring windows.
I thought the DVR itself lets you save as standard avi as the backup file format?
