HT204409 WI FI won't connect after upgrade to IOS 7.1

I upgraded to 7.1.  Now my phone connects to my Western Digital MyNet900 but will not go to internet.  Have tried WPA and WPA\WPA2 and WPA2 (personal) encryption but nothing works.  WMM is enabled.  I have an Amped Wireless access point AP300 set up and can connect on it for the internet.  I was going to internet through WD router prior to upgrade. HELP PLEASE

Update: Again...  I upgraded to iOS 7.1 on my iPhone5s 32 G last night and after the upgrade...no WiFi.  I attempted many of the fixes on this and other threads but what finally seems to have solved the problem was for me to:
1.     Back up and sync my phone to my Win 7 computer.
2.     Select "Restore iPhone" to factory defaults, using the computer iTunes interface (as opposed to selecting "Full Reset" in Settings on phone).
3.     Restore the back-up from the computer.
I Now have normal WiFi functionality.
BTW...it also eliminated 8 or so Gigs of "Other" data previously noted on my Summary page for the phone in iTunes.

  • Problems with your internet connection after upgrading to iOS 7.1.2

After upgrading to iOS 7.1.2 on my iPad Retina display does not connect to the internet more. Recognizes the Wi-Fi network but can not connect to the internet. The same thing happened to my wife's iPhone 5s, while my had no problems ...

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at
    http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • 4s won't charge after upgrading to iOS 7 :(

My phone was FINE after upgrading to iOS 7 last night. Today when I went into work, it was also fine and charged correctly.
It wasn't until after I got the "do you want iphone to trust this computer?" and I said NO.
I wasn't sure what this meant, I just clicked no because I didn't want my phone to sync to to my work computer.
Since then, I have not been able to charge my phone. I know there are issues with other brand cables, so I waited till I got home to use my official apple cable. Doesn't help at all.
I went to the genius bar and he looked at my charging port and said "well there's nothing stuck in there or broken..." We tried 2 of their charging cables there. We tried restarting the phone, we tried resetting and restoring the phone. NONE of these options work. I am dwindling on 6% right now.
The only weird thing is, when I power my phone off, and plug it to a power source, my phone turns on! I get the apple symbol and it boots up. So it does recognize SOMETHING. However, my laptop wont acknowledge that something is plugged in... and now apparently the only option is to get a new phone.
Any ideas? The guy who helped me doesn't believe that iOS 7 could cause charging issues, but there's no other explanation! I was at work all day today, and nothing has changed, I didn't drop it or anything. THe only thing I could think was diff was iOS 7 and that weird "trust computer" popup.
Help! I don't want to upgrade now!

Jefisher - good luck with that. I went to the genius bar and we went through the motions of powering on/off my phone, restoring it and eventually resetting it to factory settings and none of those solutions worked. Unfortuately my warranty already expired so they suggested getting a new phone / upgrading.

  • IPad 3 won't sync after upgrade to iOS 8.1.3

Since upgrading to iOS 8.1.3 my iPad will not sync with iTunes. I have left it attached to my computer overnight while the sync wheel keeps spinning, to no avail. iTunes says there is 900mb of space left, while the iPad says 37.0 GB of space remains. Any help would be appreciated.

When you look at the capacity bar at the bottom of iTunes when the iPad is connected to your computer, the iPad is selected and iTunes is running, what does the storage for "other" read? How much of "other" data is there?
Have you tried ejecting the iPad, quitting iTunes, reboot the computer and reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears on the screen, then try again?
You could also try updating iTunes. It looks like you are running an older version.

  • My mail won't work after upgrading to iOS 6

Since I upgraded to iOS 6 I cannot retrieve my emails on my iPhone 4S? Any suggestions as to how i can resolve this please?

I had same problem post upgrade to iOS 6.1.3
    I went to
      [Setting] [General] and set the
[Use_Side_Switch_To] option from [Rotation ...]  to [Mute]
Checked switch by manually flipping the button on iPad cover (next to volume) back and forth and seeing images of mute actions appear sceen centre
But on checking further not all apps rotated automatically  ... so ...
Manually closed all open apps by:
Screen button x2 in quick succession bottom bar appears with all active apps
Touch and hold on of these apps in this bar untill the x appears on them and the wobble
Close each one down by touching x
    Then
      Rebooted ( ... just like a Microsoft machine :-)
Now all working working ... boy you really miss that feature when its not functioning ...
Dont know if all steps relevant but this is what worked for me ...
    ... best of luck

  • IPad and Apple TV won't connect after upgrade to 6.1.2

I have two iPad2 that I installed the latest upgrade on to test the waters last Thursday. They both connected to Apple TV on Friday, now today, Monday, niether will connect.

I found another discussion that helped with my situation. I turned off the devices; iPad and Apple TVs, then powered down the Wireless Access Point (WAP) and when the WAP came back up, I restarted the devices. In both cases the devices connected without a hitch.

  • XP computer won't connect after upgrade to 7.5.2

We have multiple Apple devices which connect seamlessly with Airport Extreme. However, it seems like after the latest firmware update to 7.5.2, our older XP laptop (Toshiba) will not connect. It sees the SSID but will not connect. Our 2007 Dell XP desktop also had this issue, but when I changed the security on AEBS to WPA2 (from WPA/WPA2), the desktop ws able to connect.
If I unsecure the network, the laptop can connect. It is much older (2003 or so). Funny thing is, it did connect fine using WPA/WPA2 until this past week. That's why I think it was the AEBS firmware update.
I'm thinking about setting up a guest network for the laptop alone and leaving all other devices on main network. I would rather not have guest network unsecured. Is it possible to keep main network as "n" and use WPA2 and set guest network to "a/g" or wahtever would allow me to use Transitional WEP? I would want to keep the main network as "n". I do not want to downgrade it to "a", "b", or "g" for this one laptop that is used occasionally.
If my only option is to leave guest network unsecured, will my main network (with banking info etc) still be secure?

DaveF333, welcome to the discussion area!
The available security choices for the Guest Network are:
    WPA2 Personal
    WPA/WPA2 Personal
    None
Security on the Guest network is independent from the Main network, so you could have security set to None on the Guest network and it would not affect the security on the Main network
If you are in a mood to do some exploring, check out the following:
Open AirPort Utility - click Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab/label just below the Advanced icon
Hold down the option key on your Mac while you click on the Radio Mode selection box and you will see an expanded list of choices.
    Choose 802.11n only (5 GHz) -- 802.11n/g/b
Now hold down the option key again and click on the Security setting and you will see a choice to establish WEP Transitional Network. This setting allows WPA devices to connect using the higher security WPA and WEP devices to connect using WEP. You might want to give that a try.
You can also experiment with a number of different Radio Mode and Security combination settings to find other WEP Transitional Network choices. Just remember to hold down the option key when you click on the selection boxes.
    Pretty neat, huh?

  • Losing 3G connectivity after upgrading to IOS 8.0.2

my iPad is now losing connectivity frequently after the upgrade and I get a "no service" and have to restart my ipad for the 3G to reconnect. I don't know how many times had to do this since the upgrade, it's really annoying as the restart takes a while to load.

  • Mail won't send after upgrade to iOS 5.0.1

I upgraded the OS software on my iPhone 3GS to iOS 5.0.1 and after this upgrade I am unable to send emails from my phone when using Bell cellular.
I can still send emails from my phone using my home WiFi..
    Any ideas?

I just called Bell and we switched Bell to my primary SMTP and my home to the secondary and now I can send email from my iPhone again.
Not sure why this changed with iOS 5.0?

  • Icall won't load after upgrade to ios 5.

I have an ipod touch 4g.  I get a screen that says I don't have a microphone attached and the app won't load.  Does anyone else have this problem and a fix please.

The iCall app hasn't been updated in almost a year and a half, so it's quite possible that it's not compatible with iOS 5. Support information on their web site is nonexistent - they just have dummy pages which they've not bothered to update - so that doesn't lead to much confidence - so you may need to email or call them:

  • Itunes won't sync after upgrade to iOS 5

I've looked around here and most people are dealing with error codes and such but my upgrade appeared to go flawless.  But when it was complete and the iPad 1 came up it had the folders I created post upgrade but none of the Apps.  I checked iTunes and they're all there even the 78 books I had in iBooks but none of them are on the iPad.  I've tried syncing several times, even done a complete restore but I can't seem to get the stuff from iTunes on my MacBook Pro to the iPad.  Anyone have an idea? Am I missing something basic?

    Gatineau,
d6d24r94's comment actually worked for me-- I also found another website displaying pretty much the same idea-- it wasn't exactly as straightforward as "step one, step two, step three..." because I ended up doing pretty much the same steps in various orders before it finally took hold.
For that technique to work, you've got to do it individually, as in ONLY sync the apps, then ONLY sync the movies, then ONLY sync the music, etc...
I think it has to do with the iphoto and other apps that need to have their databases updated to the "new" database style for IOS 5-- I wasn't experiencing problems with iPhoto so I didn't consider it as a source of the problem, but I derived a drastic solution that actually did work from a website describing how to delete the iphoto index so that it will rebuild itself.
the solution that really worked for me was to (I use OS X, not sure what to for windows)
    1. Quit iTunes
    2. Delete the itunes library files. Not the actual data, but all the helper files in ~/music/itunes such as "iTunes Music Library.xml" and "iTunes Library Extras.itdb"--- I trashed them all but didn't empty trash just in case. Again- I didn't erase any actual MEDIA or APPS, I just erased those little xml and database files.
    3. Open iTunes again and tell it to look in my home directory for media.
This solution is drastic-- it forces iTunes to think it has nothing whatsoever. So, for that particular iPad and iMac, I had to rebuild the entire music library from scratch-- luckily on that computer it was all of an 8GB music collection. The music files were still there, so it was just a matter of iTunes finding them again and then processing all the album artwork and genius...
next, I had to get my apps and books and other purchases from the store back. Just use the iTunes Store side tab within iTunes, sign in to your account if you're not already, and click the "Purchases" link, which will bring up all your purchases and allow you to download them again.
Like I said, this is DRASTIC. I don't know if it's the RIGHT way or if there is a better, easier, way-- but these steps worked for me. the iPad now syncs just fine, seems to have no issues whatsoever, and even seems to be doing the auto-sync via WiFi just fine...

  • MacBook Pro drops Wi-Fi connection after upgrading to 10.6.5. Fixed!

MacBook Pro drops Wi-Fi connection after upgrading to 10.6.5. Airport says no IP is detected then suddenly reconnects?
This has been a problem I’ve been troubleshooting for the last month. I’m new to the Mac family and have loved my experience up until this point. I was under the impression that mac’s are supposed to be so user friendly that even your grandmother could use one with out having any technical knowledge. I mean I shouldn’t have to be deleting drivers or reformat my mac because of an OS update glitch? (That’s what the guy at the Genius Bar told me to do.) What I refused to succumb to was that I’m really good with computers. I get at least a phone call every other week from someone asking me for tech support. So I’d like to think that nothing I’ve done to the system would have caused this anomaly.
After numerous attempts of troubleshooting and researching forms I believe I’ve discovered a solutions that seems to be working for me.
Here are the steps I took to create a consistent connection to my Wi-Fi. I believe it was a combination of all these steps to create success.
1.) Changed my router to use G Wireless Only. (I’m assuming this removed any unnecessary frequencies to allow G to broadcast stronger?)
2.) Did a scan on the other networks in my area to find out what channel everyone else was broadcasting on. Copy and past the text below into a terminal window.
    sudo ln -s /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Versions/Current/Resourc es/airport /usr/sbin/airport
This will allow you to simply type “airport” in the terminal window to execute the command.
    Type airport –s
This will display all the networks in your area and what channel they are broadcasting on.
3.) Changed my router to use a channel that no one in my area was using. (This helped to make my network stronger and free of interference.)
The last steps will help your home network improve but these next steps I believe helped fix any install errors caused maybe by the 10.6.5 update on my mac.
4.) Boot your Mac into safe mode by holding down the shift key while booting.
5.) Open System Preferences and Click on Network.
6.) Click the drop down menu from Locations at the top of the screen. Click edit locations..
7.) Create a new location by clicking the + and give it a new name.
8.) Delete the old location by clicking on the old locations name and click the – to remove.
    9.) Reboot
10.) Open System Preference and click on Network.
11.) Click on the settings sprocket next to the + and – and click on Set Service Order…
12.) Drag Airport to the top of the list of devices then click Ok.
Now this last step is what seemed to eliminate the issue. I hardcoded my IP address to my network. This way my computer will always use the same IP and not have to search.
13.) Click on Advanced under Network.
14.) Click on TCP/IP. Click on the drop down for Configure IPv4 and change it to Manually.
15.) Fill out the fields with your IPv4 Address: 192.168.1.1xx (x=whatever number) Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Router: 192.168.1.1 (All of these settings are pretty standard for most home networks.)
16.) Click on the drop down for Configure IPv6 and change it to Off.
17.) Next click on the DNS tab at the top.
18.) Click the + to add a DNS Record.
To find your DNS Server open a Terminal window by launching Applications --> Utilities --> Terminal
    Then Type cat /etc/resolv.conf
(There is a space between cat and /. Without it you’ll get no such file or directory.)
This should return two addresses. Your ISP’s DNS Servers.
19.) Add both records to the DNS and click Ok.
20.) Click Ok then under Network Click Ok.
    21.) Reboot router then Mac
    22.) Fixed my connection issue
The symptoms I experienced eluded me to believe that something with the DHCP is going into an idle then disconnecting. Before when DHCP was set to automatically assign the network signal would time out then searchers for a new IP resulting in Airport displaying No IP is detected. By setting my IP to a fixed address I still notice a slight drop in bandwidth at moments but because of the assigned IP I never loose connection. I can now stream video, play games, chat all without getting disconnected.
I believe this fix will work for my home network but I also noticed this issue at work so for each location that I connect for the time being I’ll create each there own location and hardcode the IP address to that network. I’ve been reading that 10.6.6 is coming soon so maybe this will be resolved for good in the next update.
Let me know if this helps or if you have any questions.
    Best of luck.

I have been having the same issue for the last two weeks. No real indication as to why it ever began other than I had turned off my router and Airport Extreme Base Station off for a weekend while I was away from my place.
iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, all have no issues at all with my Airport Extreme Base Station. Can stay connected throughout my living room, bathroom, bedroom, no issues whatsoever.
My 5 month old MacBook Pro 2.66 GHz Core i7 Airport is sometimes perfect, able to connect, DHCP, and browse without issue. Then, for no reason, I won't be able to join my wireless network, or when I can join, I can't pick up an IP address. And then it will connect, pick up and IP, and then it won't browse. No real rhyme or reason to when this will happen, or when it works.
I thought that it was an issue with my MacBook Pro, but then my sister visited with her brand new MacBook Pro 2.26 Intel Core 2 Duo, and while a month ago she was able to connect, DHCP, and browse without issue, this weekend she had all of the same issues I was having.
My XBOX 360 and MacBook Pro have absolutely no issues with the wired connection. Only my WAN seems to have this issue.
Did you ever find anything more to this?

  • Unable to connect to the MS Exchange server after upgrading to ios 7.1.2

I received a new iPad 4 through work.  Upgraded to ios 7.1.2, but now I'm not able to connect to the Exchange server.  Contacted IT through work, they have no idea how to correct it.  They say all of my settings are fine.  The error message says "Cannot Get Mail   The connection to the server failed."  Any thoughts?

Appears to be a wifi connection problem. Did it work prior to the iOS update?
Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Since it's a company wifi, you won't be able to do many of these.
