HT3302 My phone got water damaged but it still functions well the speaker though did get damage unable to hear while placing a call. Is it fixible? i havent purchased the apple care warranty.

How much is the cost for repairing a device with water damage but has no apple care insurance.

For clarification Apple will do an out-of-warranty replacement for water damage regardless of the damage. If a truck runs over it and it is in many pieces in a bag they may not replace it.
deggie, sorry to disagree, but I've had Apple Stores tell me (as well as Apple's Repair Depot) that if the water damage has gotten too severe (such as causing excessive corrosion inside the device), they may opt not to allow the OOW replacement.  It's always at Apple's final discretion whether or not a device is or is not BER (Beyond Economical Repair).  Basically, if there's not enough worth to salvage from the device to make it worth Apple's time, they can refuse the OOW replacement.
It's wiser to prepare for the worst and then be delighted when the reality is better.

A refurbished iPhone comes with the same one year limited warranty as a new iPhone.

You can try your homeowner's insurance company; unfortunately, the hardware warranty was most likely voided. You can read it here:

If you are referring to the extended Applecare Protection Plan:

  • If I have a phone on the old 50 dollar plan(unlimited text, call, and web), but my phone got water damage, can i switch a new phone to the same plan?

    Hey!
So my phone somehow got water damage and I cannot fix it. I was waiting til the last possible moment to transfer my number over and now the time has come. However, when I went to change my phone, the plan that I currently have was no longer offered as an option. Is there any way that I can switch phones and keep the same plan? If so, how can I do that? I need my phone as soon as I can get it because I have important business that must be dealt with and that is the only way I can deal with it currently. Please help me! I have a Pantech Caper and my new phone is also a Pantech Caper.
    Thanks!
    Janelle

        JanelleNaomi,
I'm glad to hear you already have another phone to use. It can be stressful to be without one. You should be able to use your old $50.00 plan, but you will have to call our Prepay Department at 1-888-294-6804 to to connect the replacement phone to your number and that plan.

  • Will replacing the battery in my MBP void the Apple Care Warranty?

I have a 15 inch 2010 Macbook Pro. I'd like to replace the hard drive, and I've found various videos and sites with instructions. There are two questions that I can't seem to answer though. Are there certain brands or speeds I will need to use, and does replacing the hard drive void the three year Apple Care I bought with the MBP?

Replacing the hard drive does not void the warranty nor AppleCare, though if you cause any damage doing the replacement, that could void the warranty, and of course the warranty will not cover the third-party hard drive. Replacing the battery, as your subject line says, will void the warranty, the battery not being user-replaceable if you do indeed have the 2010 MBP.
Others here can probably comment re. drive type; brand won't matter unless there is a cable for the thermal sensor in the MBP as there is in some other systems in which case drive would have to be of the same brand for the cable connector to match up.
    Regards.

  • HT3302 If iv cracked my glass can I still claim in the 1 year warranty as my phone is getting very hot when I call

Iv cracked my glass and only had my iphone5 for 4 days, it is also getting very hot when I call so can I still claim for a new phone if iv got a crack

For a manufacturing defect then yes.
If you drop your phone and broke the glass then no, you would have to buy an out of warranty iphone

  • HT1688 My phone is turning on but will not load past the apple screen

help with my iphone 4 ive tried everything i know

Reset, hold both the home and power buttons until the iPhone restarts again, usually takes about 10 seconds of holding both buttons. If still problem, you may need to Restore the Firmware of your iPhone. If you decide to do this, try DFU Mode Restore. Steps for DFU Mode are, open iTunes on computer, connect iPhone to computer with USB Cable. Hold both Home and Power Buttons for exactly 10 seconds, release the Power button, keep holding the Home button until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode, usually about 20 seconds of holding Home button. If the iPhone screen is black, blank this is DFU Mode. Click the Restore button of iTunes. If Restoring iPhone Firmware fails, and you have Warranty or AppleCare make Genius reservation and take iPhone to Apple for resolution.

  • Apple Care Warranty? Worth it?

Is the Apple Care Warranty worth it? I'm buying a new mac, and am thinking 1 year coverage may be good enough.

I have been using Apple products since the Apple IIe - before they had GUI and a mouse (the Macintosh). I never bought AppleCare for any system I owned before we started purchasing iPods and laptops.
Neglected to purchase it on a 2nd gen iPod for my wife several years ago (the first we owned) and all was well until a few months after the original warranty expired. Wish I would have purchased it, would have been cheaper than the options.
Purchased it for my son's first iPod (don't recall which version). Used it twice on it. More than payed for itself.
From then on I purchased it for everything I buy from Apple. I am so glad I did.
Purchased a refurbished MBP in 2006 since I was returning to school. First laptop I ever owned. Have used AppleCare for it on three occasions outside the normal warranty (very recently as a matter of fact). Payed for itself on the first use.
I have also purchased it for my current MBP (early 2008). I am still within the normal warranty period, but am about to put it to use to try to cure the dreaded "unresponsive keyboard/trackpad" problem.
All anyone has to do is look around and see what components like the screen, logic board, top case, etc. cost and you will see that it will almost always pay for itself on first use. If it is a mobile Apple product, I would never again consider not getting AppleCare.
As for the desktops, have no idea as the last tower I purchased was a Dual G4 MDD, that only had one repair to the Iomega Zip drive (Iomega's replacement of a known bad batch). Never purchased AppleCare for it and it still runs like a champ - most dependable Apple product I ever purchased. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case with Apple.

Sorry, it appears you were scammed. The phone you have was replaced, either under warranty, or as an out of warranty replacement, & should have been returned to Apple. Unfortunately, some unscrupulous retailers will fix these phones, & then re-sell them. Your only option is to go back to whoever you purchased the phone from & confront them

Only the original cellular provider can authorize unlocking. You will need to contact them to determine if they offer unlocking and if the phone qualifies.

  • What do ido if my phone got water in it and never turned back on and having warranty?

what happens if my phone got water in it and never turned back on and having warranty?

Warranty is not relevant ,water damage is user damage and voids the warranty
Likely will never work correctly ,an exchane device is $269 at an Apple store genius bar
you could try putting in a bag of grain rice for around 7 days to see if that dries it out

  • I have a Iphone 4s and a ipad mini. the ipad mini recently got water damage, tried the rice trick...nothing. I have apple care plus on my iPhone, does that work on my ipad too? if so that would be great bc  defintally can't afford a new one ,lol

    Welcome to the boards.
First, what kind of liquid was it, and was it fully submersed?  For how long?  Do you see water droplets or moisture behind the screen?  How long did you leave it in rice for?  Etc.  More data please.
And the short answer is no, apple care does not extend from your iPhone to your iPad mini.  Both items require separate Apple Care plans to be covered.  Furthermore, I don't think water damage is covered under Apple Care.  Only manufacturing defects.
If you bought it on a Credit Card, you may be lucky enough to call them and ask them if they have a replacement program as a benefit for being a card holder.  I believe AMEX has one on their Platinum cards, and worse case scenario, you can always try to file a claim with your home insurance or renters insurance  (check your policy).  Just beware, if you go the Insurance route in filing a claim, you might have your premium go up in the next cycle.
    It's a double edged sword, I'm sorry.

  • My girlfriend's macbook pro got water damage, but her Skype seems to be active..

My girlfriend's Macbook Pro 13'  got water damage and seems to have made her computer unusable, this happened three days agol. Since then she decided to not try using her computer to avoid ruining it further. But recently her Skype has been online and is even callable sometimes. Is this an indication of good news? What does this mean?

Liquid spills, why your MacBook chassis is a one-way valve for spills
After a substantial spill many people will turn their notebook upside down and shake it, not only does this not work, but it spreads liquid havoc throughout your machine and makes things often as bad as possible.
The keyboard itself acts like a one way valve in the case of a substantial liquid spill. While liquid pours into the bottom chassis easy, it does not come out easily at all, and in the case of any spill, most of it will not come out by turning it upside down. Disconnect all power and contact Apple for diagnostics and repair.
Do not attempt to, after a spill, ‘dry out your MacBook’ and test it
After a spill most people invariably try to “dry out” their notebook by various methods, including hair dryers and otherwise. This both does not work, and after a substantial spill of any magnitude, even if the liquid was water, residue is left behind.
There are additionally many very tight places inside your notebook where liquids will linger for a very long time, and cause corrosion or worse.
Immediately unplug your notebook and contact Apple for in shop diagnostics and parts replacement.
In the case of very minor spills people will “dry out” their notebook and feel success that their notebook is working ok, however invariably in nearly all instances after 4-14 days an error / fault pops up and is usually followed by more.
In case of a spill, damage estimates are impossible,.....anything can be fixed, without question.......the question is cost.
contact Apple for in shop diagnostics and cost estimation ....possible parts replacement.
