Yes.
Hold c and boot the machine from the 10.6 disk, second screen in select the drive and simply install OS X.
Your files and most programs will be fine. Some third party programs that install something into OS X itself will have to be reinstalled from original sources to put their software back into OS X again (called a kernel extension file)
Make sure to Software Update fully afterwards, as certain Apple progrmas are replaced and need to be updated to current versions to wok with your files.

Firefox 4 is no longer available. If upgrading, the only version that you can/should go to is Firefox 6.0.1, the current version. Firefox 7.0 is scheduled to be released on 09-27-2011 ('''''scheduled date is subject to change'''''). After Firefox 4.0, each upgrade replaces the prior version and the prior version is "abandoned" as far as security and stability updates are concerned.

I have to install Apex 4.2 over Oracle XE for reporting purposes. I got the APEX 4.2 downloadable from OTN. I followed the tutorial http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23903_01/doc/doc.41/e21673/otn_install.htm#BABHHIJB. Now when i ran +@apxrtins SYSAUX SYSAUX TEMP /i/+ command and changed the admin password and tried to open the homepage of my DB and unlocked APEX_PUBLIC_USER account, it shown me that as blank. So i thought i need apex listener for this to open up. I installed apex Listener using java -jar apex.war command. Even now, i am getting a blank page over this, no error comes up over SQL PLUS for Apex Listener. I am not able to trouble shoot this .
So after doing all this a question came to my mind can apex be installed over ORACLE XE? I have read a forum where it says yes you can install but i did not find anything relevant more than that.
Please help.

Why did you use the Installation Guide for APEX 4.1 when you are installing APEX 4.2?

Note two things:
1. The "database homepage" that ships with your XE is a special APEX application. This application will be lost as soon as you upgrade or reinstall APEX, because it has been "tailored" into the scenario XE using the APEX version that shipped with XE.
2. A runtime installation does not have the web based GUI (workspace login, application builder, etc.). It's really just the APEX runtime for deploying your applications (through a SQL interface like SQL*Plus or SQL Developer). If you want more, you need a development environment (full install).
A third aspect would be the question whether you've upgrade your APEX images to 4.2.
So after doing all this a question came to my mind can apex be installed over ORACLE XE?Yes, as documented in the [url http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E37097_01/doc/install.42/e35123/pre_require.htm#BABFCFBC]Oracle Database Requirement section of the Installation Guide for 4.2, you can install APEX 4.2 on XE databases since 10.2 XE. I can assure you from personal experience that this actually works with and without APEX Listener.
Side note: You need APEX Listener if you want to use certain features like RESTful Webservices built into APEX 4.2.

Can Mountain Lion be installed under own ID over previous owners?

I bought a barely used Mac Book Pro Retina in November 2013. 512 GB 16 GB Ram model samsung screen made in March 2013. I called Apple and they helped me get everything over into my name except the Mountain Lion OS. The previous owners Admin. account was also deleted after I added mine.They said if I wanted to upgrade to Maverick that would be in my name. The problem is if I wanted to revert back would it accept the previous owner's or would my licensed version have to be on first? I do not plan yet to update but need to know first.
I went to Apple.com last week and purchased my own license for OS Mountain Lion. I followed the emailed instructions and downloaded into my Applications. I then backed-up my computer to an external Toshiba Canvio Slim II external drive for MAC. Easy drive to back-up.I also printed the emails and sent over to another computer for safe keeping.
I left my licensed version of Mountain Lion OS in Applications until I want to install it.
My question is do I install over the previous owner's Mountain Lion and will it then it will show up in my name only? Or do I have to reset the entire computer and erase Mountain Lion and install my Licensed Mountain Lion? The only thing I see of the previous owners is the iPhoto update won't update but that may be because mavericks now on it to do so. I deleted iMovie and Garageband but couldn't purchase in my name as I didn't have Maverick OS.
I have had no issues with downloading from iTunes or Mac App Store or anything else in my name and or updating since I had Apple help me.

No, it can't. You must repartition the drive in order to install your owned version.
Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
2. After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This should restore the version of OS X originally pre-installed on the computer.

HP Software finds the printer, but then "the printer was unable to be installed over the network"

I have tried to search for a similar issue, but haven't had any success yet. I doubt I'm the first with this problem!
The computer is XP SP3, the printer is Deskjet 3050A, and it's a WPA-PSK WiFi.
The printer confirms that it is connected to the WiFi.
When I run the setup tool on the computer, at the Network Check point, the setup software finds the printer at the correct IP address. It is the only thing it discovers.
I click next, ànd after a minute or two, I get the error "the printer was unable to be installed over the wireless network" Click Retry to try installing the printer over the network again, or click Cancel to return to the connection options.
This just cycles with no progress. I have turned off the Windows Firewall and also disabled the AV. No change.
I can browse to the web interface of the printer - but still can't install the printer. It is listed in the Printers and Faxes as being Offline.
I'll try once again removing it, and re-adding it - but has anyone come across this problem before, please?

I am having a similar problem as well. The printer is recognized (most of the time) when I run the HP Network DIagnostic Utility. However, when I run the Add a Device setup program to install my wireless printer, it is NEVER recognized. I have even tried to use the advvanced serach to locate it using the IP listed in the Diagnostic Utility without any luck. As an aside, I was able to add the printer through windows just fine and am currently able to print to it, but would really like to add it using the HP installation so that I can configure the "scan to" settings again.
To make matters worse, I no longer have the USB cord that came with the printer because the device has been connected wirelessly for over a year now with minimal issues. Any help getting this brick back online and connected to my network would be much appreciated!

Acrobat Pro XI when installed over Acrobat 9 Pro removes LiveCycle Designer. Forms Central can't open LiveCycle Designer Forms so what do you do?
I have uninstalled XI and re-installed LiveCycle Designer only. On re-installation, I chose not to uninstall version 9 and to do a customer set up (not installing forms central).
LiveCycle is now working along with Acrobat ProXI

LiveCycle Designer is no longer distributed as part of the Acrobat release. I think it is available as a separate product. At this point, Acrobat provides the AcroForm type tools (kind of hard to get to, just as in some previous versions) and the option for Forms Central. The whole focus has changed. I suspect that others may be in the same situation of trying to get their forms to interact in Acrobat or Forms Central, but at this point I do not think there is any way to back Designer forms into either of the two current formats. Not much help, but a comment in any case.

Can't see my installed app but only a waiting Icon

I tried to install Page on my iphone, but then because its size is over 20M, so my iphone paused it, then I installed Pages via Itunes, I can see boh the installed Pages icon and the waiting Pages from itunes, but on my iphone, only the waiting icon is there, and I tried many ways to delete the icon, reboot, enter air plane mode and etc, the waiting Page is still there, and I cant see the installed Page. anyone have the same issue?

I personally figured it out on why this problem occur, well let me just hit to the point.
What happens is that the router of the wifi channel is being changed automatically or someone might accidentally changed it. MBP can't detect wifi from certain wireless channel. So, we have to change the channel of the router wifi channel that may be detectable by your MBP.
THE SOLUTION -
1. Connect to the wifi from a active device to the router wifi that your MB can't detect or use Ethernet cable to get connected.
2.Once connected, access to the router wifi menu by entering the ip address on your net browser, eg:192.168.2.1
3.Then go to wifi setup or menu, and you may come across the wireless channel.
4.Switch the channel from any numeric to numeric that the router wifi can make your MB detect it.
eg: Wireless Channel - 6 (change it to -->) Wireless Channel - 11
5.Save the settings for the router wifi, exit, restart your MB and HAVE FUN!

Can I "lift" my install and put on a clean drive?

Over the past few years, my system (specifically my sda) has become cluttered and sda has been broken into more partitions than I need or want. When I installed Arch, it was more an experiment than anything else. I had 2 other distros on sda then. I used 2 partitions that were currently unused, even though they are not the size I'd prefer.
Is there a simple way I can "lift" my current install from sda7 (/) and sda9 (/home), wipe the drive and reinstall to sda? I'd really prefer not to have to install again from scratch and then apply all the changes I've made. I have an empty USB drive (sdc, 500 GB) and can clear my data drive over there so I could use sdb (320 GB) if necessary.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or links to information. I searched here on "remaster" and "mklivecd" but the info I found was all old enough it may be suspect now.

Yes, they were just examples; just mount your source and target directories wherever convenient from within the system you've booted up from a live CD or flash drive, etc. So you might have something like:
# mkdir /mnt/sda7
# mkdir /mnt/sda9
# mount -t ext3 /dev/sda7 /mnt/sda7
# mount -t ext3 /dev/sda9 /mnt/sda9
# mkdir /mnt/sdc1
# mount -t ext3 /dev/sdc1 /mnt/sdc1
# mkdir /mnt/sdc1/rootdir
# mkdir /mnt/sdc1/homedir
# rsync -av --delete /mnt/sda7/ /mnt/sdc1/rootdir/

sort out sda partitions, reboot from live CD, create appropriate mountpoints, remount partitions, etc and finally ...

# rsync -av --delete /mnt/sdc1/homedir/ /mnt/sda5/

Click Help | Check For Updates. The next menu will display a list of add-ons which won't work with the new version. The update is automatic apart from that.
If you find you don't like the layout of the new version, here are some tips to make it look like the version you're using now. 
* Right click a blank part of the tab bar and click "Tabs on top" to remove the checkmark. Tabs will subsequently reappear below the search bar. 
* Repeat the same steps, but click the top one called "Menu bar". This will reinstate the text links at the top. 
* To rearrange the layout, repeat the same steps again and choose "Customize". A panel will open and while that remains onscreen, you can move elements like toolbars, buttons etc around and place them anywhere you wish. You can also drag anything you don't like into that panel and add anything you want by dragging it out of there. 
* To replace the status bar at the foot of the page, install this add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/status-4-evar/
