I have a Imac 27 Mid 2010 and after reading the article I bought a ridiculously expensive Thunderbolt cable to use my MAC as a monitor, but it does not work!! The cable is fine because on another iMAC it does work, by my IMac 27 is Mid 2010 and this article says it should work. Why isn't apple realising a firmware update hiwch makes this possible? I stept over from Microsoft to Apple because I did not like the way they were doing, but Apple is really becoming more and more like Microsoft...

Reset all settings to simplify the app search still did not reviel the app.
In the app store the app said Open, but it would not.
The solution was simple.
Settings> General> Usage> Show all Apps> Select App> Delete App.
Then App Store download app.

Telling is that you tried most of the things on the net doesn't tell us exactly what you did try, so we are all still left to guess .....
Sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in and then try to update again

ADU stopped existing after 10.6. I see this article was updated in May; that means two revisions of OSX which don't contain this utility have been announced or released at that time yet it's still wrong. It's near the top of google rankings, making this a crappy thing to do to your users who are looking for information, Apple.

Yes, you are correct - there is no longer a Airport Disk Utility. It was discontinued. That article was accurate up until 10.7 was introduced.
You cannot call "from the main window of AirPort Disk Utility enable "Show AirPort Disks in the menu bar"" a 'typo' - it is flat-out wrong, as that menu option no longer exists at all. So the instructions can not be applicable.
This could be corrected simply by adding "10.6 and earlier OSX versions" or the like to the products affected list. But leaving this entirely unusable set of unstructions up as it stands is misleading and counter-productive.

HT5922 As far as I can tell, this article is not correct, for a MacBook Pro.

As far as I've been able to discover, on a MacBook Pro, iTunes will not send audio from a movie/video to an Airplay device. (I can do it with my iPad, but not with the MacBook). Or is there some way to get it to work?

Yes, I've gone through the troubleshooting and nothing works.
I have no problem sending music to the Airplay device, but when I play a movie, there is no option to send the audio to an airplay device (the Airplay icon disappears). There are many web pages that say this is not just me, but is the way the MacBook iTunes works (or fails to).
Strange that this got posted to the windows forum. I only commented on the article. There's nothing in the article that says it is specific to Windows.

I purchased simpsons donuts for 9.99, i have my receipt. I have written the vendor every day for 7 days and of course you cant get through on their phone number. So what the article is saying is to verify that you are just syncing iCloud contact and nothing else. When your iPhone is plugged in and using the default layout, it should like the image below
Once that is done, you should be able to see the Info Tab like in the image below
So if that looks good and you are not syncing your contacts as well as syncing with iCloud, then you will want to use the Contacts App to see if the duplicates show there to merge any duplicates. If you are still unsure what is going, please respond with some more details so I can provide additional troubleshooting.

I have found tones of documentation that stays that it indeed compatible, so...
So ignore the Apple support people.
They make loads of mistakes regarding compatibility and are likely the last people that you should ask.
Also, when Apple discontinues a product, or, release a new product, they don't always list compatibility of older parts with newer machines. Also, they don't test the parts, so they don't say that the parts are compatible with new machines.
Users know best..... so does Nvidia. Under Drivers and Downloads:

TS4006 This article does not address Ipod touch locked with passcode

What is the utility of "find my Ipod touch" if I elect to require a passcode to power on the device? Will the service work?
My reading of the PDF manual indicates that the "find my ipod" service will only work on devices without a passcode and only with wifi hotspots that have been previously used by the device (eg.: a McDonalds store where I have previously used my device and negotated the WiFi connection).
Is there any other Apple document that addresses this specific question?

Your iPod will have to be turned on, have your iCloud settings unchanged and have a connection to the internet in order to be tracked with Find My iPhone. The passcode will not prevent it from being turned on, in only prevents access past the lock screen. However, if the wifi network in question requires a password and the passcode on it is not known (so the password cannot be entered to join the network) it will not have a connection to the internet on this network and thus will appear "offline" in Find My iPhone. (If the password protected network has been previously joined, it will of course connect automatically and Find My iPhone will work.)

OK, so I have the Apple TV 3, iMac with Mountain Lin, iTunes 11, iPad 3 with iOS 6.
All on the same home network.
All signed in with the same Apple ID.
All with home sharing enabled.
But home sharing does not work!

Try rebooting all devices including the router.

HT4783 I'm trying to learn how to use Airdrop between my wife's Mac and mine. We both have it, but this article did not help us learn HOW to share files. Yippeee that we can...but HOW?

My wife and I are trying to learn how to use Air Drop. The "tutorial" showed us where it is. It came up. I saw hers (Mac). She saw mine (Mac). But where to go after that is, apparently, in the cloud somewhere. The description says we can share files...which is nice...but nothing tells us HOW to share those files.

1. Open a new Finder window or use one that's already open
2. Click on Airdrop, press Shift+Command+R, or find "Airdrop" in the "Go" menu
3. Drag your file to the icon of the person you want to send the file to (if you have mountain lion, you can use the share button).
4. The other person has to click "save"
5. The file will send and appear in the receiver's downloads folder
In Mountain Lion, a new feature was added: the share button. It's a button with a picture of a box and an arrow jumping out of it. Click on it and the third (and last) option is "Airdrop" and clicking on it will allow you to send files over Airdrop without opening it in Finder.

Patternmaker results: not true to original pattern

I'm using Pattern Maker in Photoshop CS 3, but when I generate a pattern it's not true to the original pattern. Here's what the original pattern looks like:

when making patterns and the result doesn't look right it usually means that you didn't use a good sample so reselect a part of the image and try and try again. You have to find the part of the pattern that repeats itself through trial and error and through observation. On the other hand, Pattern Maker isn't very good to begin with so you'll have your work cut out for you.

Steps #1 to #9 are verification processes that are correct for me. In fact the issue I'm trying to find a solution for - background tasks window not appearing when selected - started after the latest update of FCPX
This article does not tell me how to re-set preferences - it tells me how to trash the program - 'dramatic' or 'drastic' action for what should be relatively simple.
The Brave New World is light hearted reference that I suppose is relative. Having worked in the former Final Cut Pro software for over 10 years, have been using FCPX for well over a year now and I like the TOOL.
I also use Adobe Premiere Pro - and what tool I use depends on what I'm cutting, for whom and where.
I tutor editing to digital media uni students using these digital media tools.
Now. Is there anyone out there who can actually help me with this issue?
