HT4519 mail problem cannot receive mail invalid username password

I am setting up my mail account and I am clicking get mail, it comes back invalid username and password, but I know they are right...help!

See here http://www.apple.com/support/ipad/mail/
Also, try deleting the account, then do a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank then power ON again in the normal way.] It is 'appsolutely' safe........
And try setting it up again.

  • Mail client cannot receive mail

We have a dual 2GHz Xserve w/ 2GB RAM running 10.4.9. We run our own mail server on it.
Yesterday one of our 27 users (also all on macs) developed a problem w/ her mail—she cannot receive anything. Sending is fine, but neither internal nor external mail can get to her.
We did all the usual things on her machine (permissions, reinstall Mail, etc. etc.). Nothing changed. Then today a couple other apps started flaking out, so we switched her G5 tower out for a spare G5 we have so we could rebuild her machine. Set her mail up on the spare, and the same problem occurs, making us suspect it's at the server level.
Doing a "Get Info" on her mail account (in the drop-down menu from the gear icon in the LL of her mail window) shows that all her mail from last Friday to present is sitting out on our server.
We have WebMail enabled, and logging on through a browser with her id and password yields the following error message:
"ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP server.
Query: FETCH 1:* (FLAGS UID RFC822.SIZE BODY.PEEK[HEADER.FIELDS (Date To Cc From Subject X-Priority Importance Priority Content-Type)])"
which I have to admit means little to me. Both IMAP and POP account types are enabled on the server.
What the heck is going on?
    TIA,
    Rita M

Have you tried rebuilding her account database? This would be the first thing I would try.
There is a "rebuild" button in the Server Admin but I've never had much luck with it. The more basic way to do it is through the command line. Apple has a technote about it here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107996
Also I would post this question under the OS X Server Mail group. That group is frequented by people who are heavily into mail. Just because you happen to be using an Xserve doesn't mean this is the most specific group.
    Good luck,

  • Can send mail but cannot receive mail?

My machine has been operating fine and all of a sudden I cannot receive mail...?
I've called my internet provider and they cannot figure it out.  My other Mac's are operating fine.  Any suggestions?

    Hi Popeye. You're welcome.
Has Mail ever worked on this computer for this
account? It could be that you haven't configured the
account properly, i.e. haven't chosen the right
authentication method in Preferences > Accounts >
    Advanced, or something like that.
    Hi David,
Yes, my MacMail used to work. At that time, I was on a local ISP, on a dial-up connection. Now I have HughesNet satellite connectivity. Maybe you can verify that my settings are right.
In the Accounts window, all three first boxes are checked (enable this account, include when checking for new mail, remove copy when retrieving from server [after one week]), the next section (prompt me...) is grayed out. I'm taking from port 110, and I have MD5 challenge/response selected.
    Does this sound right?
    Thanks,
    PTP

  • Cannot Install EMDIAG - invalid username/password

I am trying to install EMDIAG on 10gR2 according to the instructions here . When I issue the command:
./repvfy -usr SYSMAN -pwd <valid pwd for SYSMAN> -tns ORAPROD install
    it responds with:
DBI connect('ORAPROD','SYSMAN',...) failed: ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
I know this looks obvious, but I have verified that I can connect to sqlplus as sysman with the same password as I am using in the repvfy command.
I am trying to install EMDIAG based on metalink doc 430626.1, because I have a backup job running that I can't terminate. (Long story.)
Any ideas about what I might be doing wrong?
    Thanks,
    Gregory

Under solution in the above referenced document, what does it mean when it referes to nodes?
    "To change the SYSMAN password:
    1. Stop the agent monitoring the target OMS and Repository in order to avoid that the SYSMAN account is locked during the process of changing the password.
If you have only one OMS connected to the repository, the agent to stop is the one which is on the same *_node_* as the OMS."
    and
"2. Stop all the OMS instances that are associated with the repository
From each *_node_* where an OMS is running, logged in as oracle account, do:..."
    Thanks,

  • Iphone mail box cannot receive mail

hi I am using iphone 5 and ios 6.0.2, whenever I use the ios mail in my home its working fine, but when I use the phone in my office its not working, it can't fetch the mail and showing the message as "The mail sever imap.gmail.com is not responding. verify that you have entered the correct account info in the mail seetings" The connection to server failed". For your info my office wifi network is a hidden network, all other apps are working fine except this. Any answers?

    Hello viswa10,
It is quite possible that the Wi-Fi network at your office has certain firewalls setup that may be preventing your mailbox from sending/receiving email. It is very common for large corporations or office buildings to have these protected networks (especially if the network is hidden).
You can attempt the troubleshooting in this article, however it sounds like the issue is completely isolated to your office Wi-Fi network. You may want to contact whoever administers that network for more information.

  • Problem in Opening Batchloader + Invalid UserName+Password

    Hi,
We have installed WLS server,SOA,UCM,Webcenter 11.1.1.4 and we havn't received any error while installing. We have not user standard weblogic/welcome1 combination while installation. Insteed we have used different user/credentials ***** . We are able to login to WLS console, em, webcenter spaces and also in UCM content server home page using the user *****.
We are using MS Sql Server 2008 and we are working on *64bit* Windows Server OS.
Post installation we have changed settings under database tab in system configuration of UCM. After that we tried running Batch Upload in UCM but we are not able to run Batch Loader utility using the user *****. It is throwing error ..
The System could not log you on. Make sure your username is correct and is Administrator and then type your password again.+

YOu need to understand some of the history of UCM
10g and previous versions used to, by default, handle their own security and hold details (including user/passwd) in the database. On install the 'Local' sysadmin account was automatically created with the password idc. These credentials worked when you connect to UCM via the webserver OR when you connected to UCM via the Admin applications like BatchLoader (I will not call them appets as they are not).
With 11g the default security uses the embedded WLS LDAP and JPS security. So out of the box you get the weblogic account to connect to UCM via a browser. However the admin applications are standalone and do not know about the WLS security. They have to authenticate against local users like sysadmin. The sysadmin user is still created at install time BUT** the password is no longer hardcoded to idc. So if you want to use this account you will need to login via a browser to UCM, go to the User Admin Applet and reset the password of sysadmin.
Depending on what else you have/not set in your config (DB Connection Details, IntradocServerPort) you may need to make other changes to get all the admin stuff working.
    Hope that is useful
    All mistakes intentional :-)

  • Cannot receive mail in nokia messaging for Nokia ...

cannot received mail in nokia messaging in all my account i can send mail but cannot  received mails in my nokia e72.

    Hi barara,
Welcome to the Nokia forum and thank you for your post.
Please go to your email settings in your phone and make sure that the POP3 settings are configured correctly. Use a search engine to find the correct configuration for your email server.
If the email configuration is correct and you're unable to receive emails, please contact your local Care line and ask them to check your Nokia Messaging account.
Every email account you set up on your phone is linked to your own Nokia Messaging account. Your Care line will be able to check the account and assist you with any issues you're having in case the above hasn't resolved the problem. All you need is your IMEI, which you can find by entering *#06# into your phone.
Hope this helps, please keep me updated on your progress.

  • Cannot receive mail; keychain password problem

I recently bought a MacBook Air. While at the Apple Store making this purchase the Genius who sold it to me had to have me change my login password. He also advised that I upgrade the OS on my iMac desktop at home. Which I did. I do not use Keychain and told him that I did not want to.
Now I have a Mail problem. I can send and receive email fine within my own (administrator's) account. But my husband cannot receive mail in his Mail account. It is not an ISP problem because he can see his new mail on their webmail site.
When he opens his Mail app, it tells him that "Mail wants to use the 'login' keychain. He puts in his login password and every other password he can think of, but it will not recognize any of them. Then it says that "Mail can't connect to the accout "(ISPname)." He enters his ISP email password, and then it asks for the keychain password again.
The Connection Doctor says that "Trying to log into this SMTP account failed. Verify that the username and password are correct." The username and password are correct; we never changed them. Now I'm stuck.
I really think this is connected to the OS upgrade. Can anyone help?

Everybody uses KeyChain. You can't 'opt out' of it, it's simply the way Mac OS X keeps track of who and what is allowed to do this or that, including Mail. The 'Genius' should have explained that to you....
Not to worry. Here's the trick.
    1. Click on the Spotlight (magnifying glass) in the top right corner of your screen.
    2. Type 'Keychain' in the search bar and press 'return'.
    3. In the 'Keychain' window that opens up, search for 'mail' in the filter bar.
    4. Click on and delete all entries that start with 'imap...' and 'smtp...'.
    5. Open Mail.app and choose Mail > Preferences... | Accounts | Account Information
    6. For each of your mail accounts in the left panel, clear the field under 'Password' and re-enter the correct password. After doing this for one account, click any of the tabs above (e.g., 'General') which will force a dialogue box asking you to save the changes. Confirm that you want to save the changes.
Repeat step 5 and 6 for all your different email accounts.

Problem: Cannot send mail unless Password is transmitted insecurely & Port is set to 587.. Can receive mail but can't send Code 501..
Need help with T-bird.. My OS is Win XP-64..Have been using Mozilla for about 10 years with little or no problems.. This happened when I upgraded to 3.17.. Spent hours on T-Bird diagnostics web site.. Called Comcast & talked to a net tech.. he ran some tests on his end & had me log into my Comcast e-mail account & all worked well,, so he concluded the problem was in T-Bird.. He had me change my port to 587 & disable connection security & authentication to none & I was able to send mail.. That was all he could do.. Comcast was working.. the problem is in T-Bird.. Can any one help with this problem.. I don't want to send mail with my password transmitted insecurely..
    Thanks

It was not intended to be "snide". You said two separate things that at face value would be out of the ordinary.
I considered if it might be a typo for 31.7. Since 31.5 is the current formal release, I would have to thank you for volunteering to test a pre-release beta version. If it was truly 3.1.7 then it would appear that you have chosen, or have become stuck with a somewhat ancient version. In either case it's harder to reach out to you with any meaningful comments or advice. However I do watch various other sites and newsgroups and I don't see a clamour of distressed users, so it seems fair to suppose that this feature isn't actually broken in 31.7.
And you said XP 64. XP is obsolete and no longer supported and if there is a 64-bit version, then again you have set yourself apart from the mainstream.
I had a look at the comcast site and found some puzzling recommendations. Some users come here asking how to set up a secured connection in Thunderbird when it isn't offered by the server. Comcast are different, in that they mention the ports 143 and 587, and also 993 and 465. So far so good, in that security is actually on offer, but they also suggest that you enable SSL, regardless of which port is being used. It would be unusual and unconventional to offer TLS or SSL on ports 143 and 587. STARTTLS would be more credible on these ports.
Have you tried IMAP on 993 and SMTP on 465? SMTP on 587 with SSL, or TLS, is not impossible, but is improbable.

  • Cannot receive mail can send email receiving mail on another mini pad

I Cannot receive mail on my iPad. Password correct in setting. Receiving mail on another iPad with same password yahoo account have had no trouble till yesterday.

A lot of people have been unable to access Yahoo e-mail on their iPhones or iPads. My wife’s iPad was not downloading Yahoo mail, although her iPhone was. Both used IOS 8.2. We tried deleting the account several times and troubleshooting all of the other settings. The problem appears to have been that allowing the IOS to automatically create the account on the iPad resulted in the wrong settings for the incoming server. The following procedure, pieced together from two websites, fixed the problem for us. So far, so good.
    https://portal.smartertools.com/kb/a2659/configure-imap-for-iphone-or-ipad.aspx
    https://help.yahoo.com/kb/mobile-mail/imap-server-settings-sln4075.html
    On the iPhone, tap Settings.
    Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Tap your Yahoo account, then delete it.
    Tap Add Account.
    Tap Other.
    Tap Add Mail Account.
Complete the Name, Address (email address), Password and Description fields.
    Click Next.
    Ensure IMAP is selected.
Enter the following incoming mail server information:
Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server - Requires SSL
    Server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
    Port: 993
    Requires SSL: Yes
    Hostname is mail.yahoo.com.
Username is your full email address
Password is the same password used to access webmail.
Enter the following outgoing mail server information:
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - Requires SSL
    Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
    Port: 465 or 587
    Requires SSL: Yes
    Requires authentication: Yes
Username is your full email address
Password is the same password used to access webmail. It may have been entered for you.
    Tap Next.
The iPhone will establish an SSL connection to your IMAP and SMTP servers.
    That’s all!

  • Cannot receive mail - virgin media

    Hi All,
I have an email account with Virgin Mail and currently cannot receive mail. There are no reported errors on the Virgin Media website.
The error message I receive is as follows :
"The mail server denied access to the account because an administrator or other mail client was using it when Mail tried to log in. Please try again later. The server error encountered was: Internal login failure. Refer to server log for more information"
If the problem persists could someone please offer advice on how to solve the problem. Virgin Media are not usually responsive to this type of question hence my post here.
I have noticed increasing numbers of problems recently to receive mail. Never the same problem twice and never the fault of Virgin Media.
    Thanks

    Hi again,
Further to above problem. After shutting down the computer for an hour or so I now have a different problem. I still cannot receive mail but now I am asked to enter my password when I hit the 'Get Mail' button but then the password is rejected. Previously I was not asked for any password.
I have not changed the password or the authentication setting in preferences (set as 'password').
I also am not able to access my mail using www.mail2web.com. It is also saying username or password error.
Earlier this evening everything was working fine, I have changed nothing. I am able to send mail. I am at a loss as to what to do next.
    Thanks

  • Problem to receive mail with Apple Mail client

Apple Mail cannot receive mail. Mail is sent without any problems. I thought that it may have to do with my iPhone but when it is shut down I still get this error.
The error message that I get is:
    Unable to Receive Mail
The mail server denied access to the account "xxxxxxx" because an administrator or other mail client was using it when Mail tried to log in. Please try again later.
The server error encountered was: Unable to lock maildrop: Mailbox is locked by POP server.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to proceed?

I determined the problem had to do with other computers configured with POP (same account) locking the mailbox. Moral of the story is to just have one computer configured with POP and all the rest with IMAP.
