The same way you would sync with any other version of iTunes.
Connect the device.
Select the device.
Select Sync.
In the new version of iTunes, the sidebar is disabled by default. With a device connected, it will be listed in the upper right hand corner.
If you want the side bar back, type Cntrl + S.

You need a WiFi connection to activate the iPhone without itunes on a mac/pc.

If you connect your ipod to your computer then look in the hidden folder labeled "iPod_Control" . (This is on a Mac version, but i think it's the same for Windows) and in "Music" is all your music mixed up in different folders. Just drag the MUSIC folder onto itunes then BAM! It's done ;D

Not sure at all what you are trying to do an it seems that you are confusing e-mail, itunes accoutns and libraries.

If you are using a USB hub, don't. Connect directly to the computer. Disconnect all other USB devices except for keyboard and mouse.

Husband synced his iphone with my itunes. Now his phone has my name on it. Can that be reset? Also, when I synced my iphone on itunes then it didn't recognize my phone so I restored from back up but it erased my photos on the phone. Can the photos be restored somehow???
Syncing an iphone should have no effect at all on the content of the computer.

All iTunes content on your iPhone will be removed first.
Unless you transfer photos from another computer when doing so, the photos transferred from the other computer will not be touched.
Photos/videos in the Camera Roll are not part of and not touched with the iTunes sync process. -

If you are using a mac, you use iphoto.
If you are on windows, you use whatever camera software windows uses.
