HT4623 not a compatible sim card

iphone 4 stating not a compatible sim card! how do you check which network yo are with on a iphone 4

You look at the reciept you got from the Apple Store. If you bought it from a carrier, then you should know... If you bought it from an unauthorized 3rd party, you can call Apple Care and give them the serial number. They may be able to tell you.

    I got the same message.
I bought an iPhone 5 at full retail price from an AT&T store. I requested the phone to be unlocked through their unlock portal. The AT&T unlock system asked for the IMEI number, a copy of my receipt showing that I bougth the phone at "No Commitment" price. A few hours later I received a message from AT&T stating that the unlock request was approved. I then followed the instructions to back up the phone and restore it through Itunes. The phone activates normally with the AT&T SIM card. But when I insert my VODAFONE SIM I get the massage "THE SIM CARD... etc.
I tried again to back up & restore the phone 3 or 4 times, no success. I have also allowed 24 hours for the unlock process to complete. Still no luck.
I have checked again on the AT&T Unlock Status portal and it shows "Unlock approved".
Where is the issue here? Do I have to call Apple or return the phone to AT&T and get the unlocked phone through the Apple Store?
Thanks for any help on this.

Sounds like the iPhone is locked to the original Carrier
and you are trying to use  a sim from another carrier
and only that original  carrier can unlock the iPhone

It appears that you have an iPhone that is locked to a carrier other than the one you were using. Now that you have tried to update the iOS, it has relocked. That is what happens if you are using a phone that has been hacked to unlock. You have also forfeited support from Apple and from this forum.

  • HT1430 SIM NOT VALID!! i wanted to update my iPhone to the latest version. i made it all the way up until you have to set up your phone. it says "Only compatible SIM cards from a supported carrier may be used to activate iPhone." thats all it would let me

what do i do when it will not take my SIM card anymore and i can not downgrade my phone? i already got a new SIM card but it still says its not compatible! what can i do?

This means that your phone was hacked to be unlocked. Updating it restored the phone to Apple specs and re-locked to the original carrier.
You will need to find out who the original carrier is and see if you qualify for unlocking.

"We're Sorry, Activation Server Temporarily Unavailable, contact Customer Care, Sim not vaild?"
99.9% of the time, the cause of this issue is the fact the phone was jailbroken/hacked to unlock it for use on networks other than the network the phone was originally locked to. Apple maintains a database of officially unlocked iPhones, and when Apple's servers detect phones such as yours, activation stops & you get the message you got.
So, either get a sim card from the carrier your phone was originally locked to, or get it officially unlocked, if you want to activate it. Because it appears that it was not officially unlocked.

  • What is a GSM-compatible SIM card and where do I get one?

I live inMexico and plan to buy an unlocked iPhone5s in the States this summer.  What is a GSM-compatible SIM card and where do I get one?

I believe all cell phone carriers in Mexico are GSM carriers.
Will this be your first cell phone?
If not and your carrier in Mexico provides a nano-SIM card which is required for the iPhone 5S, you ask your carrier for the SIM card.
If a problem develops with the iPhone that requires an exchange under warranty, you will need to return to the U.S. to receive an exchange.

It seems that you have a hacked iphone that has been locked back to the rightful carrier when you updated, as it should.
The only place that can legally/legitimately unlock an iphone is the carrier to which it is locked.

Neither. Apple can not unlock your phone. T-Mobile can not unlock your phone. ONLY the carrier it is locked to can authorize unlocking it. Contact them and find out if you (and the phone) qualify for unlocking.

  • Can i use an unlcoked Verizon iphone 5 on straight talk t-mobile compatible sim card

Hi there, well i got a problem that i cant solve by myself.I just bought a Verizon iphone 5 ,and got it unlocked.Next step that i trying to do is to get a 45$ straight talk plan, and when im trying to buy the card online it says in the description that is T-Mobile Compatible SIM Card ,this is the onlye they sell ,and is not micro sim, only says its a
You will need a compatible GSM T-Mobile phone. You may also use an Unlocked GSM phone compatible with T-Mobile
Can i buy it and use it on my iphone 5 verizon, this is the only option they got on the website.Tried to find a at&t micro sim ,but None,Zero on the website

Since there currently are no unlocked iPhones available in the US none of them will work. I would check with Softbank/KDDI to see if they will accept an unlocked US iPhone on their system and if the LTE on the US phone will work in Japan.
Do realize to that you will have to return to the US for warranty service.

in many countries to make phones seem less expensive
carriers pay most of the phones price for the customer
but this come at the cost of the phone only being able to work
with the carrier this is called a sim lock
the only people who can remove a sim lock is the carrier which
the phone is sim locked to they been doing it like that for at least 20 years

  • Ipad1 with WLAN and 3G but WLAN does not work without SIM Card

I do have that Problem too.
    Ipad1 with 3G and WLAN.
But... I do not have a SIM Card. I only use my home WLAN.
I am sure WLAN works and is correct installed (I did the same to my iphone and it works there), AND I can controll my Samsung TV with the Ipad, which only works when both use the same WLAN. So it is installed perfect for sure.
But: when I use safari it shows the URL, but than says there is no connection possible.
    Why this?
Do I have to install a SIM Card? How is that? I did not mention to do.
My iOS Software is 5. something (the newest that was possible) since this was a original iPad, never used before.
I installed it with iTunes. iTunes says that the connetction failed BUT all my apps, music and anything else I have from my iPhone are now on the iPad.
Do not understand whats going on.
Again - sure it is on the wlan, but the iPad won´t let my out to connect the world.
Bad since I wanted to use it in the house to read/write emails and for my schedule.
    please help soon.
    Thanks

A blinking blue dot on a grey screen. In my opinion it doesn't work if that's all you get.
As mentioned in the above thread, there are app store apps (TrackThing, gpsCompass) that will read out your actual position, speed, direction, in numbers, so you can see where you are on a map. (You remember maps? those quaint old world methods of finding where you are?).
This is quite useful in the back country, where cell signals may not reach. I've used gps Compass in the mountains where there was no cell signal. In my case it took about 2 minutes to find the satellites the first time but after that it was very fast.
Its not a substitute for a Garmin, but with a paper map you can still find exactly where you are, and were you are going.
(If you don't know how to navigate with maps, compass, and longitude/latitude numbers, you probably don't belong where there are no cell signals.)
