This is strange Case!
We have been authorized to download 40 copies of a VPP app. The price tier is free. We download the app through itunes and load it into configurator. Because the App is free we are not given the option to load the codes which we rightfully own.
The devices we wish to configure will not have internet connectivity in the future and I need to know that the app on them will not expire!
If I load the app with configurator (unsupervised!) will the app expire in a year and be disabled? I cannot have that happen!
Please advise!

I just did a software update from Apple for my Mac Book Pro and it crashed severely. Now it will not boot-up. I had the fading down screen with a message saying to hold down the on Button to reboot but it will not, it starts up with the same massage.

You should make sure to correct that as soon as possible. All computers, regardless of make and model, are ticking time bombs. Hard drives can die at any time, leaving you with an inert chunk of metal that may still contain your data, but in a form that is totally inaccessible without paying thousands to a company that will disassemble the drive in a clean room and read what data they can off the platters.
I wonder why should that happen. It was a simple update. Why should an update ruins all my works and my computer...
It is not the update itself, but the fact that you had corruption in your hard drive's data structures, and writing the thousands of files required by the updater worsened that corruption, damaging the system in the process. These problems can be avoided by repairing your hard drive with Disk Utility prior to installing any system update. Most likely, Disk Utility won't find anything to fix, but when it does, you'll be glad you did it before installing the update!

Allow PDF for one user and expire after 1 year?

My company produces ~300 page medical reports that we deliver in PDF form. We feel we are losing money because some companys purchase one report under a single license (instead of a corporate/multiuser license) to save money and share it with their entire company anyway.
Is it possible to have both of these features:
1) Have a PDF be locked to whatever computer opens the file for the first time, so it can not be opened from another computer?
2) Have the PDF expire after one year so it can not be opened?
I currently own Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional and Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional. If there is additonal software/addons that can be purchased to acheive both these features I will pay for it. Please advise!

What you're asking for goes beyond what a document-based feature can deliver. Items like audit trails, document expiration, etc. usually require a server in the workflow. LiveCycle provides those features.
As far as document locking goes, in order to lock it you need to provide the end user with a key. You still need to end up trusting the end user with that key whether it's a certificate (for sig workflows), passwords (for encryption workflows), and so on.
I'm not up to date on what Adobe is offering in the Cloud, but perhaps there's a way to store the doc online behind a password and with no download capability but with a set expiration date. Still, if your clients are not trustworthy, then . . .

I don't know if Essbase 7x will run properly on a Windows XP Home box.
However, I ran into a similar issue this morning on a Windows 2003 Server box. Previously there were no issues on this box. Then the latest Windows Security patches were installed. After that I could only start or create apps if Essbase was running as a service. If it was running as an app in the foreground it would give the same errors that you have listed.
I uninstalled all the recent Windows patches then reinstalled them one by one, rebooting in between each, that fixed the issue.
That is not saying that this is the same as your issue, just odd coincidence perhaps. Try running it as a service and see if you can create apps.

About the only other way I can think of is to have a computer with you or use one there, if you can put iTunes on it and download all your new stuff to the computer, then sync your iPad to that computer.
In switching computers you will lose previous content, but, as I understand it anyway, downloaded content will be the same as long as the same apple ID is used.

You will have to close firefox.exe with the Windows Task Manager from the "Processes" tab of the WTM since you don't have a widow to close.
The best way to close Firefox is through File > Exit, for those who stuck with the "Firefox" button click on the Firefox button then Exit. It is not perfect but it is a lot better than just closing the window with the "X" in the upper right corner

I tried all of the suggestions, sort of. I did not have alcohol wipes, but I did take alcohol and pour some ona white paper towel and then rolled the mouse touch ball aroound and that finally cleared up the problem. Just inverting it on paper did not do the reick, it needed some help with the alcohol. Of course the probelm is the debris that gets inside and it really needs to come out.
This is a huge problem for RIM devices users too.

hi, the app is not "shared", it works as if you bought the app twice with different accounts, only you paid it once. they should have 2 different villages since they're on 2 different devices.

Seems silly to not allow a rollback from a file repository of previous app versions.

Have you tried using a different brand of optical disk? (You don't say whether you are doing CDs or DVDs.) Some are better than others.
