Recently I've created a new itunes account without credit,but unfortunately fail to buy any free apps.
When I press the "download" button, a pop-up appear and ask me to complete the billing info.
The point is that many of my friends can buy free apps by creating non credit account, but why I couldn't?
Just feel confused.

I found out the hard way on this one. All you need is to use the drop down and put mr, mrs etc and then be sure to select none for the billing if you do not want to use a credit card. Apple does not explain this little step when it asking for your billing information.

I don't know what "something" you were trying to redeem, but if it was a valid iTunes Store give, go to the main iTunes Store page (within iTunes), click on the "Redeem" link on the right side of the page, and enter in the code from your card. You'll be able to create an iTunes Store account without needing a credit card.

You can check the purchase history on your account via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes, though I'm not sure if that shows auto-renewing subscriptions. Have you added or changed your credit card details on your account (when you do then a small temporary store holding charge may be applied to check that the details are correct and valid, which should disappear within a few days) ? If you haven't changed your card details or can't find or don't recognise what the charge is for then you can contact iTunes Support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

Yes. My ordeal started with the pre-order debacle when they cancelled my pre-order for no reason. I got the email notification and called the number they gave in the cancellation notice. I was told that it was a glitch in the system and that my order was not cancelled. She had to fill out some paperwork to help them gather data on who was getting these erroneous notifications but that my place in line was not impacted - still guaranteed to arrive on release day. I explained how important this was since it was my 15 year old son's big birthday present. No problem. On release day, I checked my online account and it still showed that the order had been cancelled. I called in just to make sure I was still on for delivery and was told that my order had been cancelled and there was nothing that could be done about it. The rep told me that if I wanted one that day, I'd have to go stand in line at the Apple or Verizon store like everyone else. There was no offer to help me jump in the line whatsoever. As you can imagine, I'm really ****** now that I hear there was, in fact, a way I could have been helped. I used to love Verizon. I, too, have been a long time customer. It seems they have been taking customer service notes from the likes of Comcast and Time Warner. I have completely lost faith in their ability to take care of me as a customer. Like you, I am evaluating options to leave this sinking ship.

BTW, Paypal isn't even an option outside of the US at this time.

My son wants an iTunes account without a credit card, for free downloads. He has an apple ID and pwd. If we go to the iTunes page to login, then he is requested to submit method of payment and "none" is not an option there. Help just want free apps.
In my account, I removed my credit card from itunes and just use free apps. And I am able to edit my account settings for method of payment with the option of none, visa, mc etc.

even i am facing the same problem, i ve created an apple id but when i go use i tunesU..its asking me your id has not yet used in itunes please review your id..then i clicks on review button,then it takes me to review page..i filled up all the details except my visa card no. and security code, becoz i dont ve any credit card and debit card too..also i searced in you tube i m nt able to understand the procedure...is that mandatory the user must ve atleast debit card..plese help me guys...

On Friday I got a iphone 4s(which wasn't one of the options in the product drop down when i created this question so i just put iphone 4). So far i have had tons of issues one of which is not being able to merge accounts from old apple id to the new icloud account but I know there is no solution for that for the time being so here is the one I am facing now... The only apple account I want is the icloud account with the @me.com address since I made the decision to abandon the other account due to the inability to merge accounts like I mentioned before. Now my old apple id didn't have a credit card attached to it because well I simply don't have one nor do I plan on getting one. So today when I went to download a free app from the app store and i went to sign in i learned that the icloud account doesn't come connected to an itunes account so I went to set it up and what did I find? well of course you cant have a @me.com itunes account with out a credit card.... so my question is is there any way to add the itunes feature to my @me.com account without a credit card like I had with my previous itunes account?
