The Apple ID and Password that was Originally used to Activate the iDevice is required.

You should have no need to use the Old Sync account.
As long as device or devices are Firefox 29 or later (They should all be Firefox 30 now) you should use the New Sync.
You may use the same email address with both accounts. -

Hello Embark2013 - Thanks for the help! If possible, could you or somebody in Apple-land explain to Apple that their system is IDIOTIC?! Changing an email address should be the simplest thing imaginable. Nobody should EVER have to consult a discussion group to learn how to do such a thing.

Jus what do you want to accomplish? The Apple ID email address is used for variosu thing onthe iPod like:
- For purchasing media. Srrings.iTunes and App stores. Sing out and sign into anoterh account
- Settings>iCLoudl for iCloud account
- Settings>FaceRome for Apple ID and where You can Be Reached At email address
- Settings>Messages for Send And Receive email address.
- Maybe for Game Center -

I have an old apple id/email that i no longer have access to. So when I'm trying to sync my iphone to my computer/ itunes it's telling me that i will loose songs etc.. if I dont authorize that acct... I have no way to access that account. The reset link will only show if you have a rescue email address on your account, an alternate email address is not used for resetting security questions.
How many security questions do you have on your account ? From http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5665 :
If you have three security questions and a rescue email address, sign in to My Apple ID and select the “Password and Security” tab to send an email to your rescue email address to reset your security questions and answers.

If you acquired content with the old Apple ID, you also forfeit the content. Content is forever associated with the Apple ID that bought it. Apple does not transfer content from one ID to another nor does Apple merge IDs. It would be best to reacquire use of the ID than to abandon it if you have content because that is the only ID that can redownload the content or update it. Call Apple Care for your country and ask for the Account Security Team, then request help resetting the password for the account.
Otherwise, if none of that matters, just abandon the ID and everything associated with it, delete everything from your devices and libraries. Then create a new Apple ID and start over. -
