HT5361 Mail update for Mavericks 1.0 is repeatedly not installing.

I have tried to install the latest Mail update for Mavericks.  The update will not install  for me.  It appears to install, but never does.  Any solution?

How do you know it isn't installing? For reasons known only to Apple, the version of Mail doesn't change to 7.1 as an update normally does.

    Hello,
I bought my MacBook 15' Retina last week and imported my Mail archive into my new Mac. The 'Mail Update for Mavericks' destroyed completely my archived mail tree. I need to remove all of it and import this again. A really poor update!!!
Anyone else experiencing the same behavior?
    Thanks

  • With HP update for Maverick my photosmart C309A does not work properly

After the HP-update for Maverick my printer HP Photosmart C309A does not work correctly. The scan facility is gone and the printer "hangs" after one print. I had to reset the printer software from a backup and to disable the automatic installation facility on my IMac. Shortly, very very very nasty. I hope this is the way for Apple to change this update into a good one. There is no other way to communicate with Apple then through the Community. I wander if Yosemite gives the same problems with printers.

    You are welcome.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

Some people have solved this by restoring their previous driver from their backup.

  • Mail update for Mavericks appears stuck. What is best next step?

Since trying the upgrade tonight, I'm getting the "Mail Upgrading. This may take a few minutes" If I get my cursor over that window I get the beachball. Other programs are responding, but the progress bar has been in exactly the same place (about 1/3 of the way) for 2 hours. I tried force quitting, force quitting through Activity Monitor. I even restarted...and there it is. If the bar had progressed a mm or two I would be more hopeful that it will self-resolve.
I have to say this who Mail fiasco with Mavericks has been frustrating. I was excited to see the Mail update saying that addressed the gmail problems...not so much now. Any one else with this? Advice appreciated.

You could try those steps, it helped me with many Mail problems:
    Shut down Mail
In Finder, go to "~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/" (just do CMD+Shift+G and paste the path)
Move all "Enevelope" files to another place (like desktop)
Restart Mail and let it convert/reindex your mailboxes
If this did work out, you can trash the Envelope Files you moved earlier.
Note: let it run, even if a beachball appears. Depending on how many mails you have, it could take some time. If it does not work and you're on a status quo you could try it the hard way:
You will have to reconfigure your accounts and import you old messages:
    Quit Mail
Go to the User Library (CMD+Shift+G and paste following path: ~/Library/)
Move, dont copy, the "Mail" folder to another place (like your desktop)
Open Mail. It will act as if no account is configured.
    Configure all your accounts
Check if everything is working fine (in- and outgoing messages)
If everything is ok, go to "File"->"Import Mailboxes" (i think it spells like this in english)
In the appearing window, choose "Apple Mail" and click next
Now choose the Mail folder you relocated earlier
Let Mail import all the Messages
In Mail there will be an new Mailfolder "Import" or "Imported Mailboxes". If you browse it, you should find all your old messages.
Just reorder them and put them into the right place.
    Hope this helps...

  • HT6030 I cannot install the Mail Update for Mavericks.

I download the file.  I invoke the .dmg file. I am told to follow the directions.  I approve the licence.  I am then shown three disks.  My drive containing OS X, my external drive dedicated to Time Machine, and a disk, which I don't have, claiming to contain the upgrade.  All three are listed with exclamation marks stating they do not meet the upgrade criteria.  What criteria am I missing?  I am running 10.9.1
The reason I am trying to upgrade is because I have 19000+ email messages listed in my inbox.  I use the inbox as a storage medium for messages not important to me (yes I have a lot of messages).  I was only able to go back a year - that is all that showed up.  I deleted them.  BUT the system indicates
I have 19,000 left.  I can't see them.  Where are they?  I would like to delete them.  If necessary I would like to delete them from Time Machine, if I can't, any
ideas on how to tell Time Machine not to back up email in the future?

    HI,
With some app's .dmgs you will get a "disk" put on the Desktop.
It will often open the window showing you the contents which is often the .mpkg installer.
Going through the Installer process you are sometimes offered the choice of where the item is put.
This example I chose to work with did not.
It is going to install it on Macintosh no matter what.
Example of one that might offer further "drives" or "disks"
In this case the other two are not fully recognised.  The "drive/Disk" for AppleJack itself has no room.
I am also not aware of an standalone (Apple) Mail updater.

  • Software update in mountain lion offers updates for iPhoto and iMovie that will not install

Updated my iMac 2011 to Mountain Lion. Software Update now operates through the App Store. Third Party apps are OK but Apple's native Mac apps eg iPhoto, iMovie offer updates for installation that do not install.
Get this error eg for iMovie but similar for iPhoto and maybe others:
"We could not complete your update.  iMovie is already installed on this computer. Choose Software Update from the Apple menu to check for available updates."
If you do as suggested, it reloads App Store software update and goes round again...
If I go to "Check for updates" in the iMovie menu it tells me it's the current version.
"This version of iMovie (9.0.8) is the current version."
The badge showing the count of apps requrining an update is also wrong.

  • ITunes update for the 11.4 version will not install

I have tried to download & install the latest update for iTunes and it keeps coming up with an error and suggests for me to install them manually. My windows is up to date. I have tried to install them manually but it won't. Any suggestions?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
The unlocker tool mentioned in the notes should be able to help remove all of the old files and folder prior to reinstalling which may get you past the error.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Mail - Looking for a spotlight plugin that is not installed...

I'm migrating a large mail database from another mail server to Lion Server Mail and it is going fine, but I am seeing lots of errors like this:
Cannot find function pointer OfficeImporterPluginFactory for factory BFA4E323-1889-11D9-82C8-000A959816BE in CFBundle/CFPlugIn 0x104722640 </Library/Spotlight/Microsoft Office.mdimporter> (bundle, not loaded)
    and
indexer process 13609:           /Library/Spotlight/Microsoft Office.mdimporter/Contents/MacOS/Microsoft Office: no matching architecture in universal wrapper
The weird thing about this is that the Lion Server is a clean install, and has never had MS Office anywhere near it.  Nor does it have a /Library/Spotlight directory.  So I'm not sure why Mail / Spotlight are looking in /Library/Spotlight for a MSO plugin.
I'm guessing that the information must be coming from the IMAP data being processed by the mail server - but seems a bit odd.
Anyone know what is going on?  What / Whether I should do anything to mitigate?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Re QTCFR.DLL: Are you sure it isn't QTCF.DLL? That's a QuickTime component.  Try downloading and reinstalling QuickTime from Apple.com.
Re converting to PSE 8: You will have a difficult time of doing that without first having a consistent, connected PSE 6 catalog.  It may be possible, but I recommend sorting out your current situation first.
Generally the easiest way is to install PSE 8 on the old computer, convert your catalogs there, and only then move the catalogs to the new computer, following the methods in this FAQ:
    http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshop-elements-faq.htm#_Move_your_photos_1
This way, you don't need to solve the problem of the missing-disk message.

  • HT203425 the recent update for IPhoto (9.5.1) will not install on my Air. The error message comes back and says there is a problem with the App store. Please try later.  This has gone on for several days.  The update installed fine on my IMac.

I have tried installing from the App sotre updates and also the softwarre updates  - I receive the same message.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Select

If you're not sure when that was, start over and note the time. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).

  • HT6030 I downloaded Mail Update for Mac OS X 10.5.6 and was told it could not be installed because it was from an unidentified developer.  Tried installing download from MailUpdate & advised the disk did not meet the requirements for update. Hmmmm.

I downloaded Mail Update for Mac OS X 10.5.6 and was told it could not be installed because it was from an unidentified developer.  Tried installing download from MailUpdate & advised the disk did not meet the requirements for update.   Expect it's due to being at 10.9.1.  Mail is still teetering between dysfunctional and non-functional.  Advice?

I'm not sure what "Mail Update for Mac OS X 10.5.6" is. Mac OS X 10.5.6 is Leopard, a system that is quite old at this point. There have not been any Mail updates for Leopard in quite some time. If you are trying to install some old Mail update for Mac OS X 10.5.6 in Mavericks, that won't work.
If you are trying to install the Mavericks Mail update manually, that's not necessary if you have updated through the App Store. If the App Store shows no updates, you don't need this. (The error message doesn't make sense, and may indicate some other problem with your system, assuming that you were downloading this update from Apple's site.)
I'd advise you to start a new topic in the Mavericks forum and describe the problems you are having with Mail. Be sure to include specifics, but try to avoid speculating on causes, as responses that may be related to an inaccurate assumption on your part can cloud the issue.
