HT5957 7.01. Not enough room to download

To download this update I need 2.9GB free space. The download is only 667MB. I will have to delete all pictures to accomplish this. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I would move as much as you can into a drop box account or Google Drive.  I know Google Drive gives you 15GB for free.  Drop box im not sure but I use both all the time.  The illusion that Apple products dont have external storage device locations or provisions is a thing of the past.  These days you can use apps like Air Sharing and many more to store alot of information on a Air Disk.  As long as you can keep backing up whatever you want into one of the above suggestions, then yoiu can always rearrange what is priority and what is not.
I own a 64GB Iphone and I use to believe that Apple would have to eventually come out with a 128Gb and maybe one day a 256Gb.  But now that I have a better understanding on how to use Cloud Drives, it makes so much more sense.  Besides, my 64Gb phone has more delays than my previous 32gb iphones.  The more info on your device, the more clutter, the more problems....Well, not problems but just a little more work to attend to.
hope this helps.

  • TS1424 not enough room to download and gb are available

My ipad told me i have not enough room available. My movie stopped downloading What can I do?

Chances are if you only have 7 GBs left on your iPad. You are not going to get a full season of episodes on it.
Video takes up a lot of storage/memory space.
If you have a computer with iTunes on it, you could try and download the entire season to your computer in iTunes and
either connect your iPad to the computer and sync individual episodes until you reach the limit on your iPad, or , if you have WiFi on both your computer and iPad, use iTunes Home sharing to stream each series episode from your computer's iTunes library to the iPad.

  • I am trying to download TV series but comes up not enough room to download

I am trying to download TV series but says I gave Jo download space.

Go to Settings>General>Usage and see what's taking up the room on your device. Remove what you don't need.

  • Message ,not enough room to download movie, but I have spane

When I try to down load a movie I purchase I receive a message that tells me to rearrange my storage, but my storage has lots of space AND I purchased more space. What am I doing wrong?

iCloud space which you can purchase more off, has nothing to do with your devices physcialy space which you can;t change. What you bought is what you are stuck with.
Go to Settings->General->About.  In the list there should be a "Capacity" entry, and an "Available"  entry. how much Available space does it say you have?
Movies tend to need around 1.2 to 1.5 GB for standard definition, and about double that for HD.

  • I try to download an app and it tells me that there is not enough room when there is plenty

An app that is 1.9 GB is saying that there is not enough room to download, even though i have around 3 GB free.

The GB size of the download file is the compressed size (like .zip or .dmg). When the file is installed/uncompressed it can be 2-3 times larger.
You need to delete some files and not run with an almost full storage.
How much space is used by your Other? You may be able to reduce.
How Do I Get Rid Of The “Other” Data Stored On My iPad Or iPhone?
    http://tinyurl.com/85w6xwn
With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5/6, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

Mountain lion has killed my mac book pro. After downloading and trying to install, I am stuck in a loop of "not enough room to install on this disk" and not being able to access the old disk's data to open up space.

Nope. It just opened the installer and stayed in the same loop.
It tells me to choose a startup disk but the only option is the HD which it will not use because it says it cannot gather enough information.
Eveything was working fine until the mountain lion failed install.

I got a new ipad mini and chose to set up as a copy of my iPad.  Didn't sync the music on however as it is a smaller model, not enough room.  Now trying to get some pictures and music on.  Chose some pictures that were not in iPhoto, got a message that I could only sync with one library, chose cancel, and apply and it downloaded my pictures anyway.  Now trying to sync some music but just get "The iPad “Linda’s iPad” is synced with another iTunes library. Do you want to erase this iPad and sync with this iTunes library?"  So I hit cancel.  Have tried several times, same thing. What can I try?

You should be able to accept this message, it will cause existing music, photos (not camera roll) and videos (also excluding those in camera roll) to be removed and replaced with those from this computer. All other user data on the iPad will be unaffected.

  • Photos deleted when trying to import to Iphoto when not enough room.

I have tried to download my photos from my camera to Iphoto.  I clicked 'delete photos when downloaded'.  I had an error message that there was not enough room in Iphoto.  When I went back to the camera, all my photos have been deleted.  HELP!

first off - do you have a backup of your iphoto library (you should - if you do not you will lose all of your photos sooner or later - along with all of your other files) - computers, software and people fail and a backup is your only defense
Second - how much free space do you have on your disk drive that has the iPhoto library on it? YOu should always have at lease 10GB free - more is better
third in the future never have iPhoto (or any other computer program) delete your photos - import them and properly disconnect your camera/memory card and wait for at least one backup cycle and then use the reformat command on the camera to reformat you memory and erase the photos
For now you probably can recover your photos using a media recovery package like media recovery - http://freshcrop.com/  AFTER you resolve the space issue - until you do that do not use your camera at all or your computer anymore that necessary to resolve the space- depending on what damage has been done due to lack of disk space using the computer may make things worse
An external drive is probably the fastest and easiest way to resolve the space issue -
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

  • I deleted my itunes library (after backing up) now i want to restore from TM to my MBA but its saying there is not enough room even though the library is 22GB and there is 27GB free on my MBA??

    Hi everyone,
I deleted my itunes library (after backing up to my time machine) to download a large torrent,  now i want to restore my itunes library to my MBA from time machine but its saying there is not enough room on my MBA even though the library is 22GB and there is 27GB free on my MBA??

    Here's something else to consider:
Since Snow Leopard, OS X uses a Decimal count for file size. iTunes however still uses a Binary count. What that means is: your iTunes library shows one size, while the folder shows another. Depending on the size of your library, this can be a pretty big difference.
Yours won't be that much, but it may be enough to prevent it from moving to the MBA from the TM.

  • Cannot consolidate iTunes library--"not enough room"

    Hello,
I'm totally frustrated here.  Just purchased a 3T Western Digital NAS drive to keep my family's media libraries. There are three of us each with our own iPhone, laptop, & iTunes library (although we do share an Apple ID).  I set up a share on the NAS for each of us, then mapped it on each computer as a network drive. Then I changed the iTunes Media folder location in the advanced preferences to point a new folder on the mapped drive.  Next step was to consolidate each library to force iTunes to copy/move the library to the new location.  This worked perfectly for the first two libraries and each one is able to sync it's respective iPhone with no problems.  My problem occurred when trying to consolidate the third library, received an iTunes error that stated  "There is not enough room on <share> to copy all of the requested files."  This is not true, I show that there is still a little more than 2T of free space still available on the NAS drive, and I am able to copy files there outside of iTunes without difficulty.  I read elsewhere that I could consolidate the library in smaller chunks by selecting items in iTunes, right-clicking, and choosing consolidate files.  This worked for about 1/3 of the music, and then I ran into the 'not enough room' error again.  Here is the pertinent information for the troublesome library:
    Operating System - Windows 7 Ultimate, SP1
    iTunes version - 10.4.1.10
NAS Drive - 2.00 TB free of 2.71 TB
    iTunes Library - 345 GB (10,129 files)
If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this, your help would be greatly appreciated.
    TIA,
    Debbi

To get an idea of what is being stored where download & run the script iTunesInfo which should output something like this:
I'm interested in the block of 4 results starting ITL location. If your profile name shows up somewhere replace it with <Name>.  It is also worth checking under Edit > Preferences > Advanced to see where iTunes thinks your media is supposed to go. My script estimates the setting based on the location of the first media file it can actually find.

    Hello caitmcd,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
You can also update the phone through iTunes directly if you have the latest version of iTunes installed, 11.1.
You can download iTunes 11 here if needed:

  • I am trying to download a movie from itunes, but ithere's isn't enough room to download. I have a iphone4, have deleted every app possible. Slimmed down photos to hardly anything. I could never update to ios7 because of storage problems. Only 2.5 GB avail

I am trying to download a movie from itunes, but ithere's isn't enough room to download. I have a iphone4, have deleted every app possible. Slimmed down photos to hardly anything. I could never update to ios7 because of storage problems. Only 2.5 GB available out of 5GB after deleting everything. I'm also out of town and cannot connect to a computer. I have wifi access though. Help?

    Update
OK, Today I went ahead & booted & tried again & it worked this time.
Not sure why it didn't yesterday. Maybe the servers were just overloaded? Several others reported similar.
Also yesterday when I ran Speedtest it showd download at about 25 mbps, This morning just before I re-started the download it was showing just above 30 mbps.  So maybe the internet was less busy? Or at least the parts between me & the test server.
& so far it is working ok.

  • I have bought 50 gb of storage and iTunes is still saying there is not enough storage to download tv shows. But I have 46 gb still available. How can I fix this?

I have bought 50 gb of storage and iTunes is still saying there is not enough storage to download tv shows. But I have 46 gb still available. How can I fix this?

iCloud storage cannot be used to download content, because its not on your phone.
You need physical local storage on your Phone not iCloud to download content.
If your iPhone no longer has enough space, you will need to delete things off your iPhone to make room.

  • Import error "not enough room on "drive" to copy..."

    Hello.
I have a built 2.8ghz dual xeon workstation that has a 640gb system drive and a 3.8tb (raid 5) storage drive and am unable to add any more songs/moves/music with out always getting an error of not enough room on 'drive' to copy all of the requested files.
right now the storage drive only has 1.2tb used(all itunes in a single library) i don't think its a item limit in itunes, because it will allow me to add new items as long as i don't allow itunes to move/copy/organize the items.
I know the drive is not full because i can still add files to it via windows.
any help would be appreciated, yes i searched and did not find anything that helped. please let me know if you need any more information.

I encountered the same problem today. Reading other threads I saw where a person identified the bug. I will file today as well.
I purchased an album from iTunes - I don't recall what they call the product - LP view perhaps? It is the one with the liner notes and such. Anyway some of the the files in this folder have a .itlp suffix. If I skip this album the rest moves fine.
So basically first run a find to locate any folder/album with the offending suffix. Then select your entire iTunes library. Then un-select the items associated with the offending album. Then right click and select consolidate. That should work.
I did not do exactly this. Since I have a large library I selected 10-15,000 songs at a time and chose consolidate. This also works.
