HT6030 Mavericks IMAP connection issues over wireless

I am having intermittent IMAP server connection issues on my Macbook pro when wirelessly connected to my home network. Other machines (both cabled devices and wireless devices) are fine. Other email accounts (Gmail and iCloud) are fine. It's just when connecting to my ISP's IMAP server. All settings in the MAIL app are correct (i have checked fifty times) and I have uninstalled / reinstalled the account several times.
If I set up the account, all is well for a little while, then I get a "Can't connect to IMAP server, connection on port 143 has timed out" error message.
Any thoughts / ideas?

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus - Wireless connection issues with Wireless Extender

I have a TPLink Wireless 300MBps wall plug extender to boost the wireless signal around my home.
When in use my OfficeJet fails to connect to the wireless network at all, even if you 're-configure' the wireless as a new connection from the printer.
Turn off the extender, reboot the printer, and voila - it connects within seconds.
Any ideas as to what I can try?

I think there are several things at play here.  The most suspicious is that the extender and the router are not the same brand.  There may be some protocol issues with this setup that the printer will never be happy with.
Can you move your main router and forget the extender?

  • WRT54G Strange connection issue when wireless security is enabled

The model # is WRT54G v2.2 with firmware 4.21.1. I knew that my internet connection was good because I connected my laptop directly to the wireless antenna. When the antenna is connected to my wireless router I can't connect, wired or wireless. I decided to reset the router and program back in the changes that I have made. I checked for internet connection after the reset, it's there. Made more changes, still good. Then when I enabled wireless security using WEP the wired and wireless internet connection goes away. Any ideas to fix this. Can I go back to the previous version of firmware?

hi... go to ftp.linksys.com/pub/network and try downloading older firmware for the router and downgrade the firmware, after that reset the router back to factory default settings and reconfigure it...

  • Cabled connection issue but wireless fine?

I wonder if there's a known issue and resolution to an issue I'm having with a client computer? The PC has been on a cable connection to the Hub v3 for around one year without any issues but it's suddenly blocking the PC via cable to the router. I've tried resetting the hub and also received a new one in the post which also did the same. I did have an issue with "netware" on the PC and other connections in there so for surety I've re-installed Windows XP on the PC and it works fine on my own LAN via cable ruling out the suspected failing LAN card. It also has Kaspersky Internet security 2012 on and nothing else. A clean registry
I haven't re-installed the BT software as I know it's not needed and for me either the hub has blocked the PC's LAN card mac address somehow or is failing? The only thing I haven't tried is the new hub with the new XP installation which I'll do tomorrow when I return the PC.
I can install a wireless adaptor and it'll work fine as does another PC on the LAN so DHCP is working in the router, just not for cables lol
Any ideas as to how I resolve this are welcome?
    TIA
    Andy

Thanks for moving and replying Molly I appreciate the time it takes as a forum owner/admin and can see the volume of posts you reply too so barely get time to read them but I'm a professional computer technician and never use (buggy) ISP given CD's for just that reason but if you'd fully read my post you'd have seen that I did say I hadn't installed the software. I've also got lot's of coasters though
The LAN card is an intel pro 10/100 about 6-7 years old (xp media centre) and has always worked like I said then suddenly it has an issue but only with the HH3? My LAN is on VM 100mb (naturally ) and the PC works great here so it has to be a clash between the LAN card and the HH3?
I updated the Sony Viao VGC -RC204 drivers (intel) and picked up on a security issue where the drivers are vulnerable to hacks but installing the driver did nothing to improve it. I haven't even run TCP optimizer in case I corrupt my clean registry & LAN drivers so I know the PC is clean & cannot be blamed for the problem.
I installed an ethernet to USB adapter to try & it worked straight away so that led me to believe the LAN card was failing but using it on my LAN it's fine! Maybe the HH3 has had a f/w update that knocks the intel drivers off or blocks them in the f/wall?
If I put the new HH3 in it should be fine & connect straight away yes? The server login details are preset in the HH3 then it's posted out? Or do I need to login & put them in manually as the new HH3 gives the same error, lol
I could use the ethernet to usb adaptor or w/l adaptor OR even try a new PCI LAN card in to see if it works but I'd rather get to the bottom of the problem as I don't like to be beaten
Anyone else seen this issue or can link to it ?
NOTE: My topic was moved to "the lounge" but on the forum index page there's no description of the forum category which is how I missed it so maybe an admin could put a decsription in there for us? and save a lot of post moves maybe

  • Exchange 2013 POP3 and IMAP connectivity issues 0x800CCC0F

    Hi all,
there's an Exchange 2013 server running without problems during "regular" use, but when it comes to POP3 and/or IMAP (we really need that for some systems), everything is fine until there's a message with an attachment of about 100kb or more.
We can poll messages with smaller attachments without problem, but bigger sizes won't work.
So for testing I tried POP3 within Outlook Express, it gives Error 0x800CCC0F
Telnet to TCP110 simply breaks up the connection when I try "retr"
IMAP shows those messages as "to be deleted", but they are accesible within OWA.
Test-PopConnectivity (also for IMAP) runs smoothly and successfully.
Firewall is opened for all connections.
Problem is and has always been there. The server is updated to the newest SP/updates.
I tried both 110/143 and corresponding SSL - no difference.
Pop3 and Imap logging shows no errors
There's Trend Micro Messaging Security installed, but has been disabled for testing - no difference. (Issue has been there before installation of TM)
So, any ideas how to fix this? I'd appreciate...
    Thanks in advance,
    Robert

  • Qos - giving wired connections priority over wireless connections

I have a WRT54G with revised firmware.  I have one wireless connection and one wired connection.  I'd like to set it up so that the wired connection uses the majority of the bandwidth.  This way the resource intensive programs I use for work (CAD, GIS, etc accessing files remotely) will be guaranteed to have available more bandwith than my daughter on her laptop using IM, web cam and WOW-type game play.  I don't mind her using these programs, but I have to make my work a priority.
It seems that I can shape traffic if each were a WIRED connection and also that the single QoS option for wireless will enhance WiFi MultiMedia.  How can I assign a preference to the WIRED connection and provide a smaller but usable portion of bandwith to the wireless connection?
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the input, although I still am a bit lost.  I apologize if my questions appear repetitive.

What do you mean by "dedicate to that application?"  Do you mean the apps I am trying to give bandwidth priority too?  If so, how much of the 512 kbs upstream bandwidth do I enter here?  How does this affect the wireless connections?

Won't these only apply to the different ethernet ports and wired MAC addresses?  I am trying to limit bandwith to the wireless side...

Won't this provide the wireless connection with more efficient throughput?  How will this help me in limiting the bandwith allocated to the wireless connection?

  • Having connection issues with wireless usb adapter

During the day when I'm just surfing the web or watching shows on hulu.com or using NHL game center live my adapter doesn't have any problems staying connected. But at night when I let my torrent client run my, adapter will disconnect and I will have to re-connect to the router manually to fix it.
Is this a problem with my adapter or the torrent client settings? Would a different adapter, either usb or pci-express, fix this problem?
Let me know if you need any more info.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi
I'm having the exact same problem .... exporting photos from iphoto to Facebook had worked perfectly fine for years, then I tried to export some photographs just a couple of days ago and I get the same problems as the Original Poster.
    I'm on Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6), iphoto 6 v6.06.
I've tried updating my Adobe Flash player, to no avail.
I'm pleased that other people are experiencing the same problems, but it's a mystery as to why it's suddenly stopped working.
When I was in work I was able to upload photos to Facebook that were saved on my desktop no problem - work uses Windows.  But I'm unable to even go to Facebook, click on Create an Album and take it from there ... when I click on Create an Album nothing seems to happen.
    I'm so frustrated.

  • Wireless Connectivity Issue with 802.11n.

We have a 5508 Controller and sixteen 1142 APs.
Several of our laptops were experiencing connectivity issues over Wireless.  Older laptops that do not support 11n are not having any problems.
I disabled 802.11n for both 'a' and 'b/g' in the Controller.  Now the newer laptops connect with no issues.
They would in fact connect to the APs while 11n was available, just no Internet Access - (cannot ping DG, etc).  Disabling/Enabling the laptop WL adapter would allow brief access (sometimes), but they'd quickly lose Internet Access once again.
Our WLANs are configured for WPA2/AES.
This looks like a 802.11n configuration issue at either the Controller or the Laptops (or both).  Both are using the Default settings for 801.11n.
Any recommendations for correcting this?  Are there best practice guidelines for configuring 802.11n?
    Thanks.

  • Messages App| connectivity issues since upgrading to Mavericks

is anyone having problems since upgrading to Mavericks with connectivity issues in the "Messages" app? Im on a 2011 MacBook Pro. I will start a desktop share session with my folks (IMAC) and within 2-3 minutes of having access to their desktop, I'm unable to control any longer and their system freezes.

    HI,
When iChat 3 came out someone tested whether it would work on the platform that was running iChat 2 and also tested whether iChat 2 would work on the later OS.
This eventually led to the Reinstall procedure for iChat 3 up to the iChat 5 version.
Since then the app has required either a Backup version from when it was working, a copy on another machine running the same OS and app version numbers (the two go hand in hand) or you have to Reinstall the whole OS which will always update you to the latest version of the OS (and in the case of Messages any updates it has had).

  • Hp officejet 6500 e709n series wireless network connection issues

My HP officejet 6500 e709n series all-in-one printer was working perfectly fine the last time I used it (admittedly a couple of months ago).  Now it seems like the printer thinks it is connected to the wireless network, but the computer thinks it isn't.  I have run the wireless network test report off the printer a couple of times.  The first time it said it couldn't detect any issues.  The second time it said the only possible issue is that "MAC address filtering may be enabled on your wireles router".  I have NO IDEA how to turn that off.  I also don't know why this would suddenly be an issue since the printer was working fine a couple of months ago and we haven't changed anything since then.  I have also run the network configuration page off the printer and it seems to think everything is fine.
When I run the troubleshooter off my computer (hp pavilion running Windows 7) it says "Printer hp officejet 6500 e709n series fax cannot be contacted over the network".  I am getting very frustrated.  How do I fix this problem?

What router?  What operating system?  Have you run the Wireless Setup WIzard from the Network menu on the front of the printer?  Do that.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 a910 wireless connectivity issues?

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 a910 and It was working fine. I got a new router and it was still working fine. Second night of having everything set up it stops working and  shows as offline on my computer. It will print information about the printer from thecomputor but will not print out any other documents.

I'm having the same issues. In my case, first I updated my MacBook Pro to OS X 10 Mavericks. A few days ago, the Actiontec gateway router provided by my ISP Frontier Communications ceased to function. Frontier sent a Netgear 7550 gateway router to replace it. I installed it according to directions. My email capability and home network went down. Frontier helped to restore the email but the techs I worked with couldn't figure out what to do to restore my wireless network. The router's setup would not allow me to replace the WPA Shared Key with the wireless network password I used previously. So, I updated the ASUS range extender and all the wireless devices that were on my home network with the new WPA key. Both printers, the Officejet Pro 8500A 910 and a Brother wireless laser, will not network. The Officejet blue wireless icon no longer lights up. I uninstalled the Officejet's software and then downloaded and installed the latest software and drivers for the Officejet Pro 8500A 910.  The HP  Network Configuration printout indicates that its network status is ready and the active connection type is wireless. I had it connected to my Mac with a USB cable so I could reinstall the software and drivers. When I disconnected the cable, I lost connection to the Officejet and couldn't print. the HP utility could not establish a wireless connection even though I did input all the new router settings. The Officejet thinks it's wireless but it isn't. I can only conclude that my Officjet is delusional. It's not all that old, but could it be ready for the all-in-one graveyard?

  • I am having wireless connectivity issues with my time capsule

Over the last 3 days my wireless devices have been having issues with connectivity.
    Network setup:
Modem - Motorola SB5102 Cable Modem
1 TB Time Capsule 802.11n (second generation)
The devices are approximately 3 feet apart.
    Wired Device:
Mac Pro (2008 build) running OSX 10.6.8, Airport Utility 5.6.1
    Wireless Devices:
    Playstation 3
    Macbook Air
    iPhone 5c
    iPhone 4
I am having issues with internet connectivity. The wireless signal strength is fine as all devices can find the network. However when connected to the network accessing the internet on the Macbook Air, or either iPhone is slow and streaming services such as Netflix cannot connect. I have intermitant connectivity to the Playstation Network on the PS3.
I have wired both the Macbook Air and PS3 directly to the Time Capsule and have no issues, internet is accessible and streaming services are fine.
I have power cycled all the devices (Time Capsule, macbook, iphones, PS3, modem) to no result.
I am looking for any other suggestions that may help me with my wireless connectivity issue.

A Gen2 TC is probably on its last gasp.. and it is well overdue for replacement.
If you want to get more life out of it you normally need to repair or replace the internal power supply.. This is not done by apple or any of their repair centres.
Just do ebay search and you will find sellers with replacement supplies.
Otherwise to test, do a full factory reset..
I would also downgrade the firmware.. 7.5.2 will work just as well for you and has less bugs than 7.6.x firmware.
To downgrade hold down the option key when you select firmware version.
    The Factory Reset universal
Unplug your TC/AE. Hold in reset. and power the TC/AE back on..  all without releasing reset and keep holding in for about 10sec. The time is not important.. it is the front LED rapid flashing that indicates you are in factory mode.
    Release reset.
If it doesn’t flash rapidly you have released reset at some point and try again.
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel..  add no more pressure after that.
TC/AE will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations.
No files are deleted on the hard disk.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.

  • Too many wireless-g networks in my neighborhood - connectivity issues???

I have a WRT54G (V.2) wireless router with the latest firmware and a couple of PC (XP) on a wireless-G network.  I can see a variety of other wireless-g networks in my neighborhood all within signal range.  Any where from 8-10 of them...
I have changed channels so that I am not on or near most of the other networks, but with that many it is impossible to find a unique channel and I know they overlap some what.
I seem to have on and off connectivity issues with a PC about 30-40' away in another room.  It works for 5 or so minutes and then disconnects, reconnects to the wireless network and it works again for a little bit.
No changes have been made to the equipment over the last year.  All I can contribute it to is the additional wireless networks within range now.
Anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to better the connectivity?  I see Wireless-N(draft) out, but from all the reviews it does seem to work any better than wireless-g.
What about the db 7 gain antenna over the db 5 the adapters come with?

Thanks for the input.  The network SSID is unique and I am running WPA encryption.  I cannot say what kind of phone systems the neighbors has, but my wireless phone system is at 5.8 Ghz.
The PC does not switch to other systems, just losses connection, then you right click and select repair and it reconnects.  Sometimes it reconnects by itself if you are patient enough to wait for it...

  • Wireless connection issues

I have read extensively on this problem and it seems others have the same issue, however I will fully document the problem I have here and will also be sending this to apple as a bug report.
I have a Macbook Pro (3.1) running leopard 10.5.4 however these issues have occurred since 10.5.2 from memory, it may have been after an airport update but I wasn't using wireless around the time I updated. The router I have issues with is a Zyxel P660HW-T1, on which I have updated to the latest firmware (which isn't that new). Since an update I cannot connect to the router when using WPA encryption. This includes WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK, on any wireless channel. The console errors when connecting are:
    Aug 10 12:33:20 Nicks-Mac kernel[0]: AirPort: Link Up on en1
    Aug 10 12:33:27 Nicks-Mac airportd[347]: Error: Apple80211Associate() failed -6
    Aug 10 12:33:27 Nicks-Mac SystemUIServer[135]: Error: airportd MIG failed = -6 ((null)) (port = 55559)
    Aug 10 12:33:27 Nicks-Mac airportd[347]: Error: processcommanddict() failed
Aug 10 12:33:27 Nicks-Mac SystemUIServer[135]: Error joining BroW: Connection timeout (-6 timeout connecting)
When connecting, the menu bar icon appears connected for a short time and then disconnects and the dialog box reports 'Connection Timeout'. Since this problem occurs I have reformatted the computer, reset the PMU and PRAM, and successfully connected to many other wireless networks using encryption. I have tried connecting to the network using windows in boot camp, and it doesn't work there either so the issue is firmware related. There were no issues before the update.
I have successfully connected to the wireless network using many other devices, including windows and linux computers, and windows mobile devices. Interestingly an iPod Touch exhibits the same problem; it used to work and now doesn't.
While I know buying a new router or Zyxel releasing a firmware update would resolve the issue, I feel that because it works with standard PC devices it is apple that should be resolving this problem as they created it. This router was one of the most popular on the store I bought it from here in the UK, and so it should be a fairly big issue. If the problem has been created due to a security hole in the WPA protocol being plugged, or something similar to this, it is understandable. Official word from Apple is needed on this!

    William Kucharski wrote:
You won't get official word here; it's just users here.
I know, I wasn't hoping for official support or in fact any kind of help, I was posting this more as information for other users. I will be submitting it as a bug report in the hope it will be recognised officially. I don't think there is anything I can do that will resolve this.
As far as the connection goes, if it was truly the router at fault it wouldn't be Apple's problem to fix, as Apple codes their drivers to comply with recognized wireless standards and it isn't Apple's responsibility to write their code to accomodate routers that don't.
As I said it would be understandable if this was caused due to a bug fix in the protocol by apple and I would not expect a fix. That's the information I'm hoping for but doubt I will get. Having said this, think about it from the end users point of view. In terms of 'Just works', Mac 0 PC 1.
That having been said, you know from your experience connecting with other routers that it's not a blanket bug, so the next question would be what's different about your network that is causing these connection failures.
One thing to try is to try removing all known networks from your known networks in your Network preference pane, and add them back.
As I said, this is an issue with Apple devices, and seems to be a firmware and not a software issue. I have reformatted and tried connecting in windows, had the same problem with an iPod touch and a Macbook.
