HT6114 My i-Photo icon on my dock now has a big "x" through it since I upgraded to OS X Mavericks. I have tried to upgrade but cannot find where to do so.

Iphoto has an "x" through it since I upgraded to Mavericks. I need to upgrade but cannot find where to get iphoto app 9.3. I have searched for it at App store.

Thanks so much! I thought the message was telling me I needed 9.3 but it was saying I have 9.3.

I have a Ipod Touch 5G and a Ipad 4th Gen with a Bose sound dock with a 30 pin adapter.  I have tried several connectors but cannot get any audio on the sound dock.  Do you have any suggestions?

Have you tried this adapter from the Apple on-line store http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD823ZM/A/lightning-to-30-pin-adapter?fnode=3c  They also have one that uses a cord to connect the dock to lightning that is $10 more.

  • My Apps icon in the dock now has a little red '1' in the upper right.  Why?

I've clicked on the icon in the dock expecting to see why I have this alert, but nothing is obvious.  It's like the email alert you get with Apple Mail.

    Good morning, QuickAgPG,
I took a look at the site this morning.   There are some good omens.
It appears that a Snow Leopard compatible version of the Solitaire game will soon be available, if that is the one you are unhappy about.
If it is other than Solitaire, the owner is an ex Apple man and one would have thought, more sympathetic to Apple clients.   When you approached them on their site, what did they say?
One last point.   If this is the Full Deck Solitaire it looks to be a free app from the App Store though I can't find a price if bought direct.
The choice would appear to be ... wait for the Snow Leopard update they write about or buy the new version direct.  If the latter you will first have to remove the original app from your computer.   App Cleaner will do that job.
Incidentally, I see you have a second thread elsewhere; not the best policy as it causes confusion.

  • Received 100+  photos in a message and now messages will not load, I get a blank white screen and it crashes. Have tried resetting and restoring. HELP.

Title. Do I need to take this in to apple?

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

Just drag the Disk Utility icon straight up and off the Dock.
If you want a new Disk Utiity icon in the Dock, go to HD > Applications > Utilities

The backup does include camera roll photos (unless you excluded them in your backup settings) but you have to restore the entire backup to your device in order to recover them.

I purchased Lightroom from B&H Photo a few months ago.  I did not instal the software, because I was purchasing a new computer in the near future.  I am now purchasing that computer, but cannot find the software.  B&H suggested that I contact you directly to help me.  I have the receipt, and you can look to see that the program was never used.  It would be great if you could just send me another copy of the software.  Thank you very much.

    Download from Adobe's website
Win: Adobe - Lightroom : For Windows
Mac: Adobe - Lightroom : For Macintosh
Install then enter your serial number when prompted.
I have the receipt, and you can look to see that the program was never used.
The receipt is only of use to B&H. Adobe will have no record of it.
If you quote an Adobe Lightroom serial number then Adobe can confirm if that serial number has ever been registered. That step should not be required at this stage though. Just install the software.

  • Download pandora radio and set up account but cannot find icon to start

Installed pandora radio on ipad2 and set up account but cannot find icon to click and start pandora

Do a Spotlight search. If you see it there, then it is probably hidden. Connect to iTunes and you should find it in a hidden screen--like 10 or 11. Just drag it back to a visible screen.

  • I have downloaded an app but cannot see the icon

I have downloaded an app but cannot see the icon. I have tried to download again from app store but it says it is installed

Do you have restrictions enabled on the iPad? Settings>General>Restrictions? Maybe that is why you cannot see it. Have you swiped from screen to screen to look for it?
You can search for the app to confirm that it is on the iPad, but that will not show you the location of the icon and if the app store says it is installed - then it is installed. But this would let you access the app. Swipe from the right in your first home screen and the search feature appears. Type in the name of the app to find it. you can tap on the icon to launch the app.
Try restarting the iPad as well and maybe the icon will show up. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
This may even help if all else fails. Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

Hi I want to back up my photos from my iPhone 5. How can I do this? I have an iPad mini but cannot sync to an iPhone as iPad does not have USB port. Can you help please

You have to back them up to a computer. You would import them either to iPhoto or to the Photos app in your PC:

  • I cannot find the icon of Icloud. I have only Mobile me, I cannot find the icon of Icloud. I have only Mobile me

I cannot find the icon of Icloud. I have only Mobile me, I cannot find the icon of Icloud. I have only Mobile me

Please always state your operating system when you have a question. From your description it is evident that you have Snow Leopard or earlier.
The minimum requirement for iCloud is Lion 10.7.5 (Mavericks preferred): the iCloud Preference Pane does not appear on earlier systems - the MobileMe pane appears on Lion and earlier but is non non-functional - you cannot now open or access a MobileMe account.
To make use of iCloud you will have to upgrade your Mac to Lion or Mavericks, provided it meets the requirements.
    The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
Lion is available in the Online Apple Store ($19.99). Mountain Lion (10.8.x) is also available there at the same price but there seems little point as the system requirements are the same for Mavericks (10.9.x) - which is free - unless you need to run specific software which will run on Mountain Lion only.
The requirements for Mountain Lion and Mavericks are:
    OS X v10.6.8 or later
    2GB of memory
    8GB of available space
      and the supported models are:
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
It is available from the Mac App Store (in Applications).
You should be aware that PPC programs (such as AppleWorks) will not run on Lion or above; and some other applications may not be compatible - there is a useful compatibility checklist at http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
If you are running Leopard on an Intel Mac you will have to upgrade to Snow Leopard to access the Mac App Store - it's available in the online Apple Store. However if you have a PPC Mac you cannot run Snow Leopard and cannot proceed further.

  • In trying to put a photo icon in my dock, I lost all my photo albums and can't get them back.  Please help.

I tried to put a photo icon on my desktip dock.  In doing so, I have lost all my photos file, every album, every photo.  Can anyone help me retrieve them in their album form?

As I said for iTunes purchases:
    See:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
For other music you have to get them from where you originally obtained them.

If you're trying to add photos to photo stream on your PC, you drag them to your photo stream uploads folder (normally My Pictures\Photo Stream\Uploads).
