HTML 5 photo website

Hi,
I am a professional photographer and am looking to remake my website.  My current site is in flash and I notice that the majority of photographer's sites are in flash.
I love the flash photo gallery on this website.
http://www.margecasey.com/david_levinthal/portfolio/
Is there a way to make a photo gallery similar to this in HTML 5?  I am familiar with flash web programming but not with HTML, so I don't know what it's capabilities are.   I would prefer to make the site in Flash, but am nervous that HTML 5 is the future .
Thanks for any help!

Hi
For indexing by search engines html is the best option, which version you use would be your decision but remember the real difference between html5 and xhtml is the html5 api which would not be of much use to you at the moment as it is not supported by IE, (IE9 will support some but is at least 1 year from release).
The main features that many think are html5 are actually css3, but css3 suffers the same problem as html5 in IE, (not supported yet) but with the big difference of most features you would require being available via the use of JavaScript to 'simulate' the feature in IE.
The iPhone and iPad have less than 1% of the internet user market share, and much of the info you hear in the media about supporting these has more to do with 'man-bites-dog' type of reporting than what is really happening in web design/development. My personal opinion is to go with xhtml/css/javascript at the moment, and use various css media-queries to target handheld devices, (the standard media-queries 'views' in the multi-screen view are good starting sizes to target).
Also offer the flash site as an alternative to your visitors, not as the main start page.

  • Problem loading images in adobe bridge html photo gallery

Can someone please, please help me!? I can not figure out why the images will not load in my adobe bridge html photo gallery cs5. I am not getting any error messages in Firefox and just the x in internet explorer.
Here is the link to the gallery page on the site: http://www.irishwetlands.ie/Gallery.html
I created the gallery as a html file for compatibality reasons due to accesbility issues with flash, and followed the general insturctions. The gallery folder is called wetlandsgallery and it is loading everything style-wise except the images themselves.
I then made the gallery within an iframe so it would be more similar to the other pages on the site and contain the menu bar - but no change on the lack of images!
Having looked around online I think it might be something to do with the bin folder?? Does this have some secutity somewhere thats protecting the images? I am also unsure if I filled in the FTP info correctly when creating the site as I was  getting the message "could not connect to FTP server" so I had to copy over the file from my hard drive to the server provider files. All the tutortials say to load your gallery and no mention of what to do when it won't connect to FTP server.
If you could also tell me how to edit the image sizes that would be a great help too, as any size changes I make to either the bin/large or bin/thumnail images makes no difference in what appears in the preview?
Help would be very greatfully appreciated as I am pulling my hair out trying to figure it out with no sucess and a possible bald patch!
    Thanks in advance,
    Áine

    Hello Áine,
    1. Is it really necessary to comment out this part in your source code?
    <!--<p><img src="images/GalleryImages/Gallery1_
                    -----stuff del-----
                    Grasshopper" title="Grasshopper" />
                     </p><br />-->
Using your source code without these things I could see some of your images.
    2. Looking to your website with my IE8 into image 7 (e.g.) I saw this:
what means there is a reference to a html file, not to an image. ???
    3. Here it becomes interesting (completely contrary to my point 2.), looking for your path:
    http://www.irishwetlands.ie/images/GalleryImages/Gallery1_Selection%20of%20IRWC%20members% 20at%20the%20Gearagh.jpg
I can see this image in my IE8 (some people in front of a "wetland". But still I've to assume (as Murray already did too), that there is something wrong with your upload and the pathes.
    4. Allow me to make one brief point, we talked about here on several occasions:  please don't use spaces in image, folders or filenames. I'll quote Murray: In general, URL encoding spaces does not lead to problems. ... Whatever the details are, though, using spaces in filenames or paths is a bad practice which WILL lead to problems.
    5. What concerns the image sizes, maybe later (I didn't understand your question correctly I fear). There is still my language barrier, I'm sorry.

  • HTML Photo Gallery / PSE4

I can create a new HTML Photo Gallery, but can not see how to modify an existing one. Slide shows appear in "Open Creation", but no HTML Photo Gallery.
I want to be able to easily modify an existing html photo gallery, so that any time I need to add an image, I don't have to create a whole new gallery and upload it to the server. Can someone guide me through this process? I've looked in "help", and there's nothing re "modify html photo gallery".
Background: I bought PSE2 a few years ago, and it fairly well met my needs. Recently I decided to buy a new digital camera. After confirming that the new PSE4 worked with Adobe Camera Raw, and that my camera model was supported, and checking the fetures of PSE4, I went ahead with both purchases. Now I wish to begin using an on-line server to display photos in an "html photo gallery". I've been advised by the sysop to use JAlbum, as it has the ability to easily modify an existing albm, but I prefer not to install yet another software package if PSE4 can do what I need.

I use a program called PhotoThumbs to generate the Challenge. It is very
configurable and lighting quick generating web sites in seconds not minutes.
I then upload using a program called WinSCP3 that is cleaver enough only to
upload those pages that are new. I do want something and easy because I am
generating the site over 50 times a week and these programs working in
conjunction do yeomen's duty. The only down fall is that PhotoThumbs is
    commercial although inexpensive.
I have tried Jalbum and found it easy to do the pre packaged programs but a
little complex to do more complex things. It is free and being a Java
program is available for many platforms. The time to generate a site was
much slower than PhotoThumbs but things might change.

  • How create html photo gallery in PSE 12?

In earlier version of PSE I was able to create an html photo gallery. How do I make one in version 12?

    Indeed, google ftw.
    For example:

    reveals many including this one:

  • Firefox will not display my photo website properly nor play the music from it on my new computer. I have 2 other PCs and it works fine on those.

Just set up a new PC and downloaded Firefox. It will not display my Zenfolio Photo website correctly nor will it play the music that accompanies the main page slideshow. I have 2 other PCs and it works fine on them. All are Windows 7 Home Premium.

Note that there is nothing wrong with setting Flash to "Ask to Activate" and click the Lego block icon on the Navigation Toolbar to activate the Flash plugin when needed.
You can verify on the Adobe Flash Players Test Page that the Flash plugin is working and which version you have once you have installed the plugin and checked the setting in "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins"

  • HTML photo gallery best practices

    Dear Common Wisdom:
I have seen a number of variations with regards to types of HTML photo/image galleries within folio files out there.
Is a best practice materializing in anyone's opinion?
    Thanks for your thoughts!

    Thanks, Yellow,
I want to make a photo gallery, but have not yet.
So far, I am simply creating a single HTML page for individual images or photos in my articles. That is, in-app browser opens to the image with a caption. That's it.
So, I am hoping to get ideas for the future from reposnses here.
Do you have any examples of what you've done I could see?
I am not a professional code writer, but do understand xml and html.
    Again, thanks for responding!

  • How do you send photos from ipod to photo website (i.e.Kodak) for printing?

How do you send photos from ipod to photo website (i.e.Kodak) for printing? I'm copying all the photos from my PC to my ipod (to free up hard drive space on the PC). Once I do this, how do I use the photos on the ipod, i.e. printing, emailing?
    Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that you'll have to transfer them back to your hard drive to print or email them.
Also, do yourself a favor: back up you photos.

  • How to get published html onto website?!

Hi! So I just downloaded Edge Animate CC yesterday and have very little experience with it. I want to integrate animation into pictures and infographics on my organization's website. I did a quick animation and published the file. However, I was then at a loss as how to actually upload the html file to my website. Now, we have had a developer design our website and it is their CMS that we use to add content to the website. I have very little experience with HTML and website coding. Please keep that in mind. My question is how on earth can I upload the file to the website? The file is on my hard drive so any coding I do doesn't work because the website has no idea where to get that file. I know that isn't a lot of details but I can provide more if anyone specifically what my problem might be!

What CMS do you use? If you use wordpress there are plugin for put HTML code into post, like XYZ html snippet if Im nnot mistaken.
Or you could upload it (the folder) via FTP and put the link on your post.

  • Can't view a jpg.html photo

my sister send me via email (cox.net) an old family picture. when i attempt to open it, all i see on the screen is rows and rows of numbers, letters, and funky symbols. what gives and how can i view this picture? thanks for all your help!

or if the photo has two extensions, like mypic.jpg.html, erase the html part (which shouldn't be there for a jpg anyway).
EDIT However, it sounds to me like maybe your sister or her email provider made a mistake somewhere. HTML should never be attached as a suffix to just a photo. Oh wait, is this HTML mail? Then it should display correctly in mail.app. How are you opening it?

  • Problem Viewing HTML coded website in design view

    Hello,
I've got a functional website I coded (using an html text editor) for a customer some time back that he wants to be able to edit. He doesn't know code, so we got Dreamweaver.
The problem is, a lot of page elements simply won't show up in the Design view (though they do when viewed in a browser). I suspect it may have something to do with older nested Table tags I used, but neither of us is very interested in me rebuilding the site from scratch (which is largely what we were trying to avoid).
The extra odd thing, though, is a lot of the code in question DOES display on the index page, but not on secondary pages, even though it was copy/pasted in the first place.
The website in question is http://ckski.com. The index page shows up fine. (http://ckski.com/Pictures/GoodPage.jpg) On secondary pages, the only thing that shows up in the Design view is the banner image at the top of the page. I get a gridline for the main table structure, but no content (only some errors indicating some extra </td> and </tr> closing tags) (http://ckski.com/Pictures/BadPage.jpg)
View Source should work to check the code, but I can provide anything else that might be needed, such as the CSS page.
    Thanks!
    Travers Jordan

Code errors are responsible for 98% of rendering problems.  Your pages lack a valid doc type declaration which puts them into quirks mode.
On line #1 in code view, change this:
         <html>
    to this:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
    <html>
At least that will give you a fighting chance of validating without errors.  Use the online code validator below to check for other errors in all your site pages.
         http://validator.w3.org/
Incidentally, asking a non-coder to use Dreamweaver is form of punishment.   Basic coding skills are necessary to get the most out of this product.   Anything less is going to result in frustration and confusion.
It's worth noting that DW is NOT a WYSIWYG editor.  Design View is at best, an approximation of what you can expect to see in some browsers.  For best results, use Live View in Split View and edit the code.

  • Looking for a photo website

Hi,  I am creating a slideshow for my classroom and want to create an album for each parent to download their photos to.  The features I am looking for is that the website be:
    1.  Free
    2.  Viewable only to myself and the parent uploading their photo's.  I should have about 20 different albums - one for each parent. ( I don't want everyone seeing everyone's photo until the end of the year - I want the photos in the slideshow to be "new" to the parents.)
    3.  Easy to use
    4.  Photos easily uploaded for the parents and easily downloaded by me.
