HTML DB on VMS?

Does anyone know if HTML DB is available for installation on VMS databases or if there are any such releases planned?

We installed HTML DB on Sun Solaris first the HTTP Server on one server and the database instance was on another server. Once we were sure that it was working properly, we just did a second install as outlined on this site: Oracle HTML DB Tips and Tricks

It worked fine. The thing to realize is that the HTTP Server works on Solaris, HTML DB is mostly a lot of database tables, views and procedures which should install on any platform. We are running the 9.2.0.5 of Oracle on both the VMS and the Solaris servers.

HTMLDB install on VMS 10.1.3

HTMLDB is not supported on VMS 10.1.3, per metalink. Since HTMLDB is basically PL/SQL packages, I want to run and create these new schemas in my new 10g database and run the apache server from a windows box (which my understanding is the reason HTMLDB is not supported is because apache is not supported on VMS). Has anyone done this? Does anyone know how I can get the PL/SQL code? Any thoughts, comments will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

In this install, there is a b16375_01.pdf that details the installation and requirements, XML DB and Oracle Text.

Nexus 1000v UCS Manager and Cisco UCS M81KR

Hello everyone
I am confused about how works the integration between N1K and UCS Manager:
First question:
If two VMs on different ESXi and different VEM but in the same VLAN,would like to talk each other, the data flow between them is managed from the upstream switch( in this case UCS Fabric Inteconnect), isn'it?
I created a Ethernet uplink port-profile on N1K in switch port mode access(100), I created a vEthernet port-profile for the VM in switchport mode access(100) as well. In the Fabric Interconnect I created a vNIC profile for the physical NICs of ESXi(where there are the VMs). Also I created the vlan 100(the same in N1K)
Second question: With the configuration above, if I include in the vNIC profile the vlan 100 (not as native vlan) only, the two VMs can not ping each other. Instead if I include in the vNIC profile only the defaul vlan(I think it is the vlan 1) as native vlan evereything works fine. WHY????
Third question: How it works the tagging vlan on Fabric interconnectr and also in N1K.
I tried to read differnt documents, but I did not understand.

-Yes. Each ESX host with the VEM will have one or more dedicated NICs for the VEMs to communicate with the upstream network. These would be your 'type ethernet' port-profiles. The ustream network would need to bridge the vlan between the two physicall nics.

- The N1K port profiles are switchport access making them untagged. This would be the native vlan in ucs. If there is no native vlan in the UCS configuration, we do not have the upstream networking bridging the vlan.
Third question: How it works the tagging vlan on Fabric interconnectr and also in N1K.
- All ports on the UCS are effectively trunks and you can define what vlans are allowed on the trunk as well as what vlan is passed natively or untagged. In N1K, you will want to leave your vEthernet port profiles as 'switchport mode access'. For your Ethernet profiles, you will want them to be 'switchport mode trunk'. Use an used used vlan as the native vlan. All production vlans will be passed from N1K to UCS as tagged vlans.

Turn Sound OFF in Javascript or HTML

My client would like the Flash banner I'm using to play audio
only on the home page. Can I shut the sound off in javascrpt or
html (in the object tag properties)? Client does not want a sound
toggle button - simply no sound.
I know I can create a second version of the Flash without
sound - but then users would have to load that file in addition to
the first Flash. I've searched without any luck. Any help would be
much appreciated.

Cisco VMS problem

I have installed the cisco VMS 3.1 Enterprise edition but after installation. I am not able to open it in web page. I have checked all the services and it was running fine. But after the new installation, it is not opening in internet explorer. I have try with hostname adn IP address it is showing me following error
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

HeuristicMixedException on VMS with 6.1sp2

Has anyone using VMS encountered the random unexplained
javax.transaction.HeuristicMixedException with 6.1sp2 that was
suppose to have been fixed in 6.1sp3.

Remove all but the following JARs from lib/optional

Update lib/jars.xml to reflect these changes
build clean
build webapp -Dinclude.webapp.libs=yes
Copy the following JARs to a suitable lib-directory:
xercesImpl-2.0.0.jar
xml-apis.jar
xalan-2.3.1.jar
xt-19991105.jar:
java/lib/tools.jar
Deploy the resluting cocoon.war and you should have a Cocoon up and running that
can do the XML->HTML Hello World sample. The status page works fine too.
If you need a more competent Cocoon, try adding the required JARs on the class
path (or add them the to your webapp-build if you are confident that WLS are capable
of handling their manifests).

Oracle 10g on VMS

Guys,
Need some input on can we install Oracle 10g on VMS OS.
Actually we have an application running on VMS and DB is RDB.
Planning for migration to Oracle. Needs to know will Oracle be supported in VMS or do we need to move the scripts too to UNIX or someother OS.

Oracle 10g on VMS with TCPWARE

All:
I am trying to upgrade from Oracle 9.0 to Oracle 10. (Oracle 9 works fine for me, but I need the latest patches)..
The system is running OpenVMS Alpha, using Process Software's TCPWARE. Oracle states that it only officially supports UCX. For various reasons, switching to UCX/DEC Tcpware is not a good option.
With my current version of TCPWARE (5.5-3), the installer will not even start (I am getting tcp/ip level errors). I can upgrade TCPWARE to the latest version, but don't want to go to the time and expense to do this if it won't help. Has anyone out there installed Oracle10 on a VMS AXP system with TCPWARE?

Cloning VMs from a single VM which is Member of Domain

Hello There,
I have a VM which is got XenApp application server role and we have done lot of testing for each and every applicaiton which will be published through it, now this VM is completely ready.
We would like to clone this VM and create multiple XenApp Servers instead of going through the whole testing procedure for each application.
We use VMM2012 and HyperV 2008R2 what is the best way of cloning these machines because when we clone once machine it will have the same computer name and all unique IDs associated with it and it is also part of domain.
So what should we do in this scenario if we want to create multiple clones of the same machine, please suggest.

I have found an article for syspreping the XenApp server if we use this there is no need to disjoin the server domain and i can still clone the VMs from it after sysprep.

Two VMs and exclusive write access to one file

How can one guarentee exclusive write access to a file when two vms want to write to it?
I looked at

However, I am not sure whether a race condition could happen or not.
(I thinking like:
if file is not writable, change to writeable,
else if file is writable, wait for a while and check again.

change file back to not writeable.
Is there some OS level exclusive access thing we can take advantage of? The follow up question would be, what about system crashes?

The problem with what you describe is that two JVMs
could discover the file is not writeable at the same
time, and then change it to writeable. You need some
sort of action which can only be successfully
completed by one JVM. Here's an idea:
Create a dummy file which represents a "lock" (only
one JVM may hold the lock). When a JVM wants the
lock, it attempts to delete the file. This can only
succeed for one JVM. Once you have the lock, you do
your business and then restore the file.http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/docs/api/java/io/File.html#delete()
not bad. It's a false situation too.
However, deadlock can happen if the other VM goes down while the lock is taken.

As far as I know, you need to maintain business org details (like org name, positions, business partners etc) in the ppoma_crm tcode. Then have to assign a position to your user ID. This assigns the business role as well.

VMS 2.3 EOL/EOS - Replacement?

I see that VMS 2.3 is now EOL/EOS. From Cisco documentation it appears that Cisco Security Manager and MARS are the replacement.
Since VMS 2.3 basic with 5 device support was included with IPS sensors at no charge (IPS sensors are basically plug and forget without some type of event viewer), will Cisco Security Monitor and MARS have the same licensing option that was available with VMS basic?
