HTML displaying strangely

i have been having this issue for a while:
pages display like this on many websites after many settings changes and browser changes on my mac... any ideas?

Are you using any plugins, host entries, custom CSS files, etc?  You can also use Safari's Develop menu to Show Error Console - maybe there is a clue in there.

  • Html display order : PDF document in AIR application

    Hello.
    I read
    "The display order of a PDF file operates differently than other display objects in an AIR application. Although PDF content clips correctly according to HTML display order, it will always sit on top of content in the AIR application's display order."
    I am concerned with the "PDF content clips correctly according to HTML display order" part. I would like to know what it exactly means. That is I want to be sure that I could put, for example, and image over the PDF doc, or any other HTML elements without them being graphically overridden by the PDF view. Thanks in advance.

    My reading of the quoted bits is: Inside the PDF, layer ordering rules should work correctly.  But the PDF itself will float above any other content in AIR.

  • JEditorPane html display problem

    Hello,
    I'm running a JEditorPane inside an Applet for a project im working on. The source included below is an over-simplified version that produces the same results. The problem i'm having is that the html displays in an odd fasion in the JEditorPane.
    Since I cant include a screenshot let me attempt to describe it. Regardless of the FONT face in the html the paragraph displays as you would expect in the JEditorPane until the last line. The last has extra horizontal space separating it from the rest of the paragraph. This seems completely arbitrary. There is nothing in the html code near the line break.
    I've linked this problem to the font face attribute tags. Regardless of the font I choose it displays improperly. Any idea on how to remove this spacing problem in my JEditorPane?
    I'm using NetBeans 3.5.1 and SDK 1.4.2. I've tested this problem in the AppletViewer as well as online in a web browser.

    1) I have complex html page (having lot of html controls).
    .when i resize the container, controls gets overlapped.
    shall we avoid this? to my experience JEditorPane deviates from the display of typical browsers when HTML is displayed that contains complex table layouts (tables nested in other tables or non-explicit or non-existent size expressions in tables for instance). I recommend to try and simplify layout complexity as a workaround. Start with a most simple page and increase complexitiy until display gets unsatisfactory.
    2) I used JEditorPane. My html contents are stored in
    text. i called setText()...whether i need to use
    HTMLDocument, HTMLEditorKit etc...to render
    html in better way...I did not understand your second point, what is the question?

    Subject: Menu Icons Display Strange
    Hi again
    Hmmm, new install. Aside from the funky icons does it seem to function?
    What is your operating system? Vista, Windows 7, Windows XP and how many bits? 32 or 64.
    Note that Adobe has no version of Captivate that has been blessed and purported to run flawlessly on 64 bit systems. We are seeing more and more folks arrive here that are using 64 bit systems and citing all manner of issues. Mostly surrounding capture and audio.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Fonts displaying strangely

    Hi,
    Safari and the Address Book are displaying strange fonts. This happened to me once before; I had installed new fonts and noticed the problem. I disabled the new fonts and the problem went away.
    This time, however, I did not install new fonts. Any ideas how I can fix ths?
    Here is a screen shot of my problem:

    Hi Bruno,
    I don't know if this will solve your problem, but it will do no harm trying it.
    It may be that you have to resolve duplicates in Font Book. Open Font Book which is in your applications folder and look for any black dots next to the font names, if you see any highlight them then go to 'Edit' in the top menu and select 'Resolve Duplicates'
    Do this for each font with the black dot. When you're finished, restart your Mac.
    Like I said, don't know if it will work, but it's worth a go

  • Flex and HTML display shift in Safari in Mac OS

    When a popup is displayed in Flex app, the Flex display gets shifted down in Safari in Mac OS alone. However, even if the display is shifted down, the controls seem to be in the correct position. For example, for clicking a button, the cursor has to be some pixels above the shown display. Not only the Flex display shifts down. HTML Links display also shifts down along with Flex and Links are clickable some pixels above the display.
    The problem happens only while triggering the Flex popup display in long flex screen. On a Flex screen within the browser height, with the same actionscript and Javacsript code, there is no problem.
    This works fine in all other browsers including Safari in windows.
    Has anyone faced this scenario? Any help will be highly appreciated.
    For the popup to be displayed in center of viewable area, the following code is used.
    callLater(SMBObjectUtil.changePosition,args);
    In SMBObjectUtil.as file,
    public static function changePosition(x:int, y:int, obj:UIComponent):void {
         var yPos:int = ExternalInterface.call("findScrollTop");      var winHeight:int = ExternalInterface.call("getWindowHeight");
         var appHeight:int = Application.application.height;
         var objectWidth:int = obj.width;
         var objectHeight:int = obj.height;
         var calculatedX:int = 0;
         var calculatedY:int = 0;
         if(Application.application.width>obj.width) {
              try {               calculatedX = (Application.application.width - obj.width)/2;
                   if(yPos <= 0){                    calculatedY = ((winHeight-objectHeight)/2-100)>0?(winHeight-objectHeight)/2-100:50;
    else if(yPos<=(appHeight-winHeight)){                    calculatedY = (((winHeight-objectHeight)/2)+yPos-100)>0?((winHeight-objectHeight)/2)+yPos-100:50;
    else if(yPos>(appHeight-winHeight)){                    calculatedY = appHeight - objectHeight - (winHeight-objectHeight)/2;
              catch(e:Error){          }
         }else {
    obj.x = calculatedX;
    obj.y = calculatedY;
    Javascript functions used are:
    function findScrollTop()
      var ScrollTop = document.body.scrollTop;
      if (ScrollTop == 0)
       if (window.pageYOffset)
        ScrollTop = window.pageYOffset;
       else
        ScrollTop = (document.body.parentElement) ? document.body.parentElement.scrollTop : 0;
      return ScrollTop;
    function getWindowHeight()
      var y = 0;
      if (self.innerHeight) {
       y = self.innerHeight;
      } else if (document.documentElement && document.documentElement.clientHeight) {
       y = document.documentElement.clientHeight;
      } else if (document.body) {
       y = document.body.clientHeight;
      return y;

    Found a fix for this. CallLater() was giving the problem in Safari. Once I removed CallLater and directly called my function, the problem was resolved.

  • Mac Mail is displaying strange characters

    My Mac Mail is displaying these strange characters on a number of seemingly random emails from people. However, when I copy the message and paste it into a word document or the internet browser address bar it converts these "letter A in a box" characters into what the words actually were. But this is a hassle and I'd rather just be able to read the text directly in my mail application... Thanks for the help.. hopefully it is a simple fix.

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that the custom field not render html well.
    As you have known, we can use the “disable-output-escaping” to render the html, however, it not works in your environment.
    As a workaround, we can use JQuery to render the html, I have made a simple code snippets to achieve this scenario, you can refer to it.
    <script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.10.2.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    $(function(){
    var theTDs = $("td[id='SPFieldCustom']");
    //console.log(theTDs.html());
    TDContent = theTDs.text();
    //console.log(TDContent);
    theTDs.html(TDContent);
    </script>
    Note: You should change the id to fit your environment.
    Thanks,
    Jason

  • Why is my ipad displaying strange symbols?

    I was wondering if someone could help me.
    Just purchased an Ipad3 and found that the date (i.e. month) when displayed at the top of the screen is being shown in strange symbols/characters rather than specific text (saying "march" for example). When i go to settings, date & time, it again shows  strange characters here rather than the different months.
    it is also displaying them in Mail when i check the date of individual emails and in calander.
    here is a snapshot:

    can anyone help and let me know if this is a bug or if i can change it?

    You may have changed the Language setting.
    Set the language for iPad: Go to Settings > General > International > Language, choose the language you want to use, then tap Done.

  • Mail displaying strange characters

    Hello
    I was previously using Thunderbird, but when I saw how nice Mail is, I switched over. Now I am starting to rethink, because it's displaying some very strange characters without reason. • Some Hebrew HTML displayed incorrectly (left to right) in outlook 2013

    is there a way to fix that?

    Hi, If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, before you can use any of the right-to-left features in Microsoft Office, or even
    correctly display right-to-left scripts, you must
    Add an input language and
    enable the keyboard layout for the right-to-left language.
    Please also check if you have set Outlook to use UTF-8:
    1. Click the orange "File" tab in the top left corner of the Outlook 2010 window and click "Options" on the pull-down menu. A new window titled "Outlook Options" appears.
    2. Click the "Advanced" heading on the left side of the window and then scroll to the "International Options" heading near the bottom.
    3. Place a check in the box labeled "Automatically select encoding for outgoing messages" and click "Unicode (UTF-8)" on the drop-down menu.
    4. Place a check in the box labeled "Automatically select encoding for outgoing vCards" and click "Unicode (UTF-8)" on the drop-down menu.
    5. Place a check in the box labeled "Allow UTF-8 support for the mailto: protocol."
    6. Click "OK."
