Html next to cfinput checkbox text

I have a form which requires two a href links and surrounding
text to appear to the right of a checkbox. When I put the html next
to the closing tag, it does not display at all. When I place it in
the label property, it shows the links as plain text. When I put
the text in cfset tag outside the form, then call it from the label
tag, again, it shows up as plain text. Is there any way to combine
this the certification HTML with the checkbox so it will display
properly?
Line of code:
<cfinput checked="yes" type="checkbox" name="ICertify"
id="ICertify" label=#icertify# />
Output:
I certify that all information furnished is accurate and
truthful. I also certify that I have read The USPS Privacy Act Statement and
PC Postage Privacy Principles.
I'm brand new at ColdFusion, so be gentle in your answer.
Thank you,
Ernie

Thank you for your help.
I copied the code directly from your message, then tried
several variations, including typing the text directly in between
the label tags, excluding the tags, etc.
This is still not working - the text is not displaying where
it should and in the way it should. I can't understand what's
blocking the label from displaying.
When I place the #icertify# cfset reference anywhere outside
the form tags (enclosed in <cfoutput> tags), it returns
exactly what I want - the text with clickable links. It seems that
within the form, though, it won't function at all.
I haven't made any changes to the original code posted last
week. If there is anything in there that might be suppressing it
from working, let me know.
Thank you,
Ernie

First, you are completely wrong here. As I stated before ColdFusion will not omit anything from the form scope. It has no control over what the browsers sends to the server. The form field omission is done by the browser. There is nothing for CF to omit as the field would not be submitted by the browser.
I hope you can see that your arguments have leaned so far on misunderstandings. This time you make a shift within 3 sentences from 'scope', the word I used, to 'field'. The shift is subtle, but makes all the difference. The form scope I talk about pertains to ColdFusion, not to the browser.
To illustrate with a concrete example, suppose the form in question has a checkbox named chkbx. Suppose further that you submit the form without checking the checkbox. Then, on the CFM action page, ColdFusion will omit the key chkbx from the form structure. This is simply a statement of fact. It is true, whether or not the browser sends the field to the server.
Next, again you are completely wrong about the use of any of the cf ui tags (cfform, cfgrid, cflayout, etc.. ). These should not be used by someone learning CF, or anyone else for that matter. They don't teach you CF, the teach you how to do crappy UI that will not translate over to any other technology. A new developer is better off learning JS and how to build forms properly so that knowledge can translate to other languages.
If you were to look in StackOverflow you would people consistently trying to get people to not use the UI tags. Anytime someone posts a question about any of the UI tags, one of the first comments are generally.. "stop using the ui tags".
You might want to read this blog post...
http://www.raymondcamden.com/index.cfm/2014/1/23/Im-not-going-to-tell- you-to-stop-using-ColdFusion-UI-tags-anymore
Then check out..
https://github.com/cfjedimaster/ColdFusion-UI-the-Right-Way
Once again, you claim I am wrong when I mention another statement of fact. I have been around for a bit as a ColdFusion developer and am aware of the the issues regarding the UI tags. In fact, I myself have had to resort over the years to alternative solutions like Dojo, Ext and JQuery. However, this isn't about me.
Many colleagues use - and, if recent history is anything to go by, will in the near future continue to use - ColdFusion's UI tags. Especially, a lot of developers starting out in ColdFusion consider them simple, versatile solutions to their problems. Rightly or wrongly. That is simply a fact of life.
Naturally, I agree with you that more experienced developers owe it to the community to sound a note of warning about the issues that may arise with the UI tags. However, I do believe that such advice will be more effective if delivered with a tickle rather than a punch.
In my opinion, there is a psychological component to this. People invest time to learn ColdFusion, and good money to acquire a license. They want to believe in all the goodies the platform promises to deliver. They would hate and resist you if you attempted to spoil the dream for them. Ironically, your reference to Raymond Camden actually says something similar.
This reminds me of one of the best books on strategy I ever read, David Maister's Strategy and The Fat Smoker. Why would an intelligent man, a professor at Harvard, no less, continue to smoke, put on weight and avoid exercise even after his physician warns him of the impending danger to his heart? The answer is trivial and universal. It has little to do with rationality. The professor or the ColdFusion developer, like most human beings, prefers the easy life, wants to believe things will work out somehow today, and puts off difficult changes until tomorrow.

I started to learn HTML, and I'm using text edit and everything is going fine, when I save the file with a .html extension and open it with safari I only view the code and not the webpage that was supposed to be created.

That is because you don't have a web server configured and running to serve the html page. In order to see the page in a browser you need to access it using a url similar to http://localhost/~yourUserName if you are serving the page from your user account.
Prior to Mountain Lion you could go into web sharing and turn on the web server. With Mountain Lion there is no option, other than using terminal, to turn on the web server. The web sharing menu item has been removed in Mountain Lion. Apache is still on your computer but it will take a little searching these forums or the Internet to find how to turn it on.
If you want a graphic user interface to turn on/off the Apache server you could download and install a server application like xampp, http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html. I use this and it works well.

• Cfinput checkbox labels

Dear reader,
I work with Coldfusion 8 and have a form that is type XML .
When I create this code:
<cfinput label="Sox" name="Sox" type="checkbox" checked="#YesNoFormat(qCompanyControl.Sox)#">
<cfinput label="Tax" name="Sox" type="checkbox" checked="#YesNoFormat(qCompanyControl.Tax)#">
<cfinput label="Iso" name="Sox" type="checkbox" checked="#YesNoFormat(qCompanyControl.Iso)#">
3 checkboxes with THE SAME NAME.
the result on screen is what I want, but the problem is now that I cannot access all 3 seperate...
When I change my code to the code is should be:
<cfinput label="Sox" name="Sox" type="checkbox" checked="#YesNoFormat(qCompanyControl.Sox)#">
<cfinput label="Tax" name="Tax" type="checkbox" checked="#YesNoFormat(qCompanyControl.Tax)#">
<cfinput label="Iso" name="Iso" type="checkbox" checked="#YesNoFormat(qCompanyControl.Iso)#">
the result is this:
The labels are gone...
What is causing this prolem?? (I tried a lot of things, but apparently not the correct one...
Very curious about this one!

This doesn't really address your question, but have you considered just using a label tag? I've always had dubious results with the label attribute of <cfinput>, so I just use the HTML label tag.
Sox
<cfinput name="sox" id="sox" type="checkbox" />
Tax
<cfinput name="sox" id="tax" type="checkbox" />
Iso
<cfinput name="sox" id="iso" type="checkbox" />

• Tab and next line characters in text area

Hi,
I have an issue with the textarea. The page is inserting /t and /n in the text I type in and everytime I save.
I defined a text area like following in my jsp:

<bean:write name="tiptrackerEditForm" property="explanation"/>

css:
.textarea_value {
font-weight: normal;
font-size: 12px;
text-align: left;
wrap: soft;
When I type in a word in textarea, it saves without any /t or /n. But when retreive the data and load it into the form again, the page shows with an inserted tab (the word is moved to the right after inserting a tab). Everytime I save, it inserts a tab and /n characters. I know for the fact that the database or the form is doing this. It's in the jsp.

Put the whole element in a single HTML line without newlines and spaces.
Thus, so:<bean:write name="tiptrackerEditForm" property="explanation"/>

• How do I (or can I) apply alternating para styles (using "next style") to existing text?

I am trying to apply background shading to alternate lines of text by creating two paragraph styles and naming each as the "next style".
This works when manually entering text - but I can't figure out if it is possible to apply it to existing copy with out applying the styles to each line individually.
Thanks for any help

Select multiple paragraphs of text, then right-click on the name of your first style in the Paragraph Styles panel. "Apply Style, Then Next Style" should be one of the options.

• Html code exported instead of text

Hi,
I created an interactive report via a SQL query and used html code for one column in this SQL query:
(case when test1>1 then '{a href=JavaScript:newPopup("f?p=&APP_ID.:PageId:&SESSION.::&DEBUG.:::"); }text1{a} else '' end )|| ' '|| (case when test2>1 then 'text2' else '' end ) "title 1"
This column is displayed correctly (the text1 is diplayed as a link and text2 is displayed as text) in this interactive report, however, once user uses the download function, the html code {a href=JavaScript:newPopup("f?p=&APP_ID.:PageId:&SESSION.::&DEBUG.:::"); }text1{a} text2 is exported.
Is there any way to fix this issue?
Thanks,

• HTML email saving as Rich Text

Hi,
We are having an issue with Outlook 2013 on Exchange 2013, where we need to save emails on a regular basis and it loses embedded attachments.
The emails when we attempt to save them are in html format – but when they save they auto change to Rich Text and as such they lose the attachment.
We found another guy who has the same issue
http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/392648-outlook-items-converting-to-rich-text
and there seems to be no solution – drama is I really need one !!!!! HELP!
We have so far: -
Tried a ‘save as’ to outlook msg with and without uni code.
When saved email is opened, it is in ‘Rich Text’ format
Embedded attachments are missing.
Also when responding to emails that are received from clients outside of the organisation, it converts the email to rich text and if sent, do not get past the exchange and remain in the ‘submission queue’ with “a storage transient failure” error for 3 days
before bouncing back as undeliverable.
TNEF was enabled which gave a whole lot of other errors so was disabled again

Hi Alanvdw,
Thanks for your response.
Cached Exchange Mode provide users a better online and offline experience. Cached Exchange Mode lets users move between connected and disconnected environments without interrupting their experience in Outlook. Also, it insulates users from network latency
and connectivity issues while they are using Outlook.

• Attach to Email - Can we create HTML format rather than plain text

We need to send invoices & receipts to customers. Our accounting app produces a PDF. We then use the toolbar button (or File|Attach to email).
Our email client is MS Outlook.
Is there a way to create an HTML format email (so we can use our signature and get our branding out there) rather than the plain text email which is produced currently.

• HTML tags displayed with the text in "Notification" area

We want to display an HTML formatted message in the "notification" area, but the HTML tags are being escaped and thus are displayed along with the text. We are using Application Express 2.2.1.00.04. The application has been handed off to us to support and we have no experience with APEX. So I hope I am explaining this correctly.
The process to display the message is as follows:
After submission, a page validation fires, which is of type "function returns boolean": "return some_function('P100_MESSAGE',2nd_arg);".
In "Error Message" is "&P100_MESSAGE."
The function returns true when the validation is successful. When validation fails, it returns false, setting 'P100_MESSAGE' to some error message - for example: "<li>Phone number is not numeric</li><li>Email address is not valid</li>".
Our template has this in the body definition:
#NOTIFICATION_MESSAGE##SUCCESS_MESSAGE##BOX_BODY#
As I understand it, #NOTIFICATION_MESSAGE# will be replaced with the value of 'P100_MESSAGE'.
I've displayed 'P100_MESSAGE' on my page to confirm its contents and it is rendered correctly with bullets. But the notification area does not show bullets. It displays the text and the HTML tags.
Is there anything obvious we can do to fix this problem? Thanks

I 've changed P100_MESSAGE to text field, text field (disabled, saves state), text field (disabled, does not save state), and textarea, display as text, etc. It is originally set to Hidden type (because it is only to be displayed in the notification area). But changing it to various types makes no difference as to how it is displayed in the notification area. Of course, when it's not hidden, then it's also displayed on the page, among to other page elements,which is not acceptable.
Thanks-
-j

• HTML emails render as plain text. Restarting Mail.app resolves the issue

I keep seeing this problem every day. Occasionally when I receive an HTML email (e.g. a newsletter), the HTML isn't rendered -- instead some sort of plain text equivalent is displayed, which is full of entity codes and URLs to all the images in the HTML. Clearly not right.
If I restart Mail.app when this occurs, the HTML email is ALWAYS rendered correctly. It's really annoying having to do this every day!
It seems like it could be to do with leaving Mail.app running when my Mac is in Sleep mode -- the issue always seems to occur when I wake the Mac. When I have restarted Mail.app after the issue occurs, all incoming HTML emails are rendered correctly.
Has anyone else seen this issue and do you know of a workaround? How do I submit a bug to Apple?
Cheers,
