What's a good html php text editor? TextEdit has trouble opening files with those extensions.

If you're just looking to make a few quick changes to a couple files and don't want to buy software, TextEdit can work. Open the TextEdit application, go to the preferences, select the "Open and Save" pane, and then check the item "Ignore rich text commands in HTML files". Close the preferencs dialog.
This will basically tell TextEdit to diplay the source code/markup in HTML files, but for some reason I can't seem to get this preference to stick from one session to the next. So without closing the TextEdit application, open the HTML or PHP file you wish to edit by right-clicking or control-clicking on the file and choosing "Open With > TextEdit".
If you're looking for features, the previous poster is correct that BBEdit is the industry standard for hand-coding websites on Macs.

Minimize the Html standard editor by default in Textarea

Hi,
I'm using Apex 3.0.1 for my application. I've used text area in the UI with the Html standard editor. I see that the page loads slowly coz the editor takes time to load with all the icons and stuff. Is there a way by which I can show the editor to be minimized on load? I think when required by clicking the 'arrow' icon the editor can be expanded. My application is more like a content management and so I'm using lots of text areas as this.
Can someone let me know if this is feasible to do and so if, how to achieve it?

There is no way of minimizing things in html.
Off course you can hide items with javascript for example, but that doesn't prevent it from loading, so your load time will not decrease.
If you put a condition on the item, it's not loaded at all so you save time.
Then there's the advanced way: Replace a normal text area with an Ajax call to a editor text area. But that's some more work and not standard apex.

Contact Facebook and ask their team of web developers how they do it. Seriously, this is no project for a rank beginner. Without advanced coding skills and a very good grasp of web server security, you are in over your head. DW is a tool. It's only as good as the person using it.

HTML / Word Editor in SAP HR

Error while using "HTML Standard Editor" item in "Array VPN"

Hi,
The "HTML Standard Editor" item is not displayed properly when the person is trying to enter data, when he is logged in using Array VPN. An error appears in the item box "Unable to Process request. The requested URL has an unsupported encoding.". Can this be resolved? This error is appearing in Firefox, and in IE the box appears but is not editable,i.e Nothing can be entered in the box.
Please assist me in this matter.

I've worked with clients in the past that used VPN clients that attempted to cache and compress JavaScript code being sent to the browser. The problem was that the algorithms were terrible and ended up breaking the code.
Do you know if this is happening? If so, there's probably an option to turn it off. Take a look at the source code for the problematic page using the VPN connection and compare it to the source from a page without using VPN. If the page is really busy you can create a blank test page and add the item that's not working. That should make comparing the changes easier. Consider using a code comparison utility.

1. Ich habe eine HTML/PHP-Seite
2. Ich habe auf dieser Seite einen Button.
3. Ich möchte nun, sobald ich den Button betätige aus der angezeigten HTML/PHP-Seite eine PDF-Datei erzeugen.
4. Mit FPDF und HTML2pdf habe ich es bereits versucht, bin aber zu keinen erfolgsversprechenden Ergebnis gekommen. (Vielleicht hat jemand ein funktionierendes Beispiel !!!!!!!!!!)
5. Meine Frage: Gibt es bei ADOBE eine EXTENSION ????
6. Ich setze DREAMWEAVER CC auf einem Windows-Rechner ein.

Hier auf dieser Seite gibt es eine "ACTION" (rechts oben); darunter steht "VIEW AS PDF".
Genau so etwas brauche ich.
Wie funktioniert das?

How create pdf using HTML+PHP+FDF

Hi! Some time ago I wanted to prevent my pdf file of distribution (copy) to other computers. It turned out that this is impossible (without DRM). Thus I came up with the idea - to generate pdf using HTML+PHP+FDF. I created a PDF template using Acrobat Pro. Access to the site with a generator forms will be payable.
I want to do this:
1. the customer fills out a form on the page
2. Customer clicks the "Generate" and then opens a pdf file in the browser ready for printing
3. Can I in this situation protect the file that a client could not change the form data?
If the file after generating the client will be able to download the file to your hard disk and write data to a form - this is no security. Is it possible (after generating) automatically protect a file against modification?

This is not possible with FDF and PDF template.

Add PHP Editor to Homesite?

I have installed & set up Homesite and want to edit and
debug PHP templates/pages. PHP is running fine- I can browse a PHP
page and the script is color-coded- however, I do not have a PHP
tool bar option.
I downloaded software that was supposed to add a PHP editor,
and it installed a file named ExpressionElements.vtm in the
Homesite Extensions folder. Still no editor shows up.
Any advice?

Web files (html, php, css ...) slow to update

I am web developer.
I have always worked in mac, but when I upgraded to Mavericks began to have a serious problem.
When I edit a web archive (such as html, php or css) and I open it in the browser, I visualize an old version. For the latest updates, you must spend a period of time (2 to 3 minutes).
It happens with web server (MAMP) or HTML files. Any browser.
I'm desperate because my work is very slow.

Html + css editor

I am a java programmer who was told to design a jsp page using html + css.
i dont know css. is there a free WYSIWYG editor out there which takes into an account your css files and lets you use it somehow to make what you need.
keep in mind that when i look at the css style sheet i cant "imagine" how any of the stuffs in there would looks, and i dont know which divs must be inside other divs.

As long as you are able to get away with writing "dirty code" it isn't too much of a pain. When I am knocking a random page up I use 2 methods
1) Set the style for a tag using clas="..."
2) Set the style by adding the tag in your css
The first option allows you to tightly control what style gets applied where. The second option is for global setting of styles. By putting a <style> tag in your header you will find you are very quickly able to change and test your style changes. I am currently, at home, learning php with MySql served from apache. All I have to do is edit my css file in notepad, hit F5 on my browser and voil�, I can see the changes. I can develop my style sheets very quickly with this method. I prefer not to use graphic tools because of all the unnecessary tags they create.

HTML online editor and accented letter

Hi all gurus,
please forgive the nooby question, I'm a newbie about Portal and I've searched sdn forum without success for the following task.
Strictly; I have to publish an HTML file in an iview of the Portal.
This task was accomplished quite easily, the problem is the simple text which is in the HTML file.
As requirement, that HTML should be an info page; there are then few users which don't know anything of HTML which should update that info page with relevant news and activities.
The purposed solution is, off course, to use the integrated online HTML editor; here the problem arise as every accented letter in the HTML is shown with strange, ascii characters.
Googling a bit, I found that a correct charset in the HTML file could do the job:
charset=ISO-8859-1
as we're using Latin1.
Tried this solution on an HTML file on my desktop, it works. The above solution, however, does not work in Portal; the only solution is to use HTML entity (e.g. &agrave), but this is not so immediate to explain to users which don't usually work with HTML. Furthermore, they should switch to textual editor as the online HTML editor doesn't support explicit entity entries.
I'd rather expect the online HTML editor (which is kinda wysiwyg) has an automatic routine (as in Dreamweaver and most others programs) to convert an accented letter to the corresponding HTML entity. So I guess the problem is on Portal side (configuration?)
Could anyone help me solving this issue, or find a workaround for that?

Because it looks at the template the object in the system be it a blog or a page it looks for those styles from what it considers the main CSS for that template. Split them up in any way you run into problems.
Always good to keep one CSS for things for perfomance anyway but it will avoid this and other similar issues you not encounted yet with regard to your issue.
