HTML5 new tags vs. Flash

Everyone is talking about HTML5 killer... I was wondering what is the bottom line here?
Does HTML5 with its new tags offers opening .swf files without needing to have plug-in?
If that is true then I understand why they say "killer" but not Flash killer, this is Flash Player killer then which would basically be good, nobody would need Flash Player and Flash would still work.
But can anyone tell me what is true here for real ?

The <video> tag just simplifies the markup for including video in a web page. No more <object> and <embed>.
The type of supported video depends on the browsers and their codecs.

FMS 4 HTTP dynamic streaming in HTML5 video Tag

We recently purchased FMS4 and I'm in the midst of setting it up. However, not that it's a HUGE deal, but....
I see conflicting answers in the forums about whether or not it is possible to stream media in the HTML5 <video> tag (going back to early 2010).
Ideally, I'd like to stream (most of the time using flash), but for the specific browsers that support it, (chrome, ff, IE9, and select iOS devices) HTML5 video tags.
So, can FMS 4 do that?

If so, how? I gave it a shot using the above code (minus the "blah, blah, blah" ), and the video doesn't play - if all it is, is a syntax error, then please be so kind as to provide the correct syntax.
However, if it isn't possible unless you download something else, like the File Packager for HTTP Streaming or the Origin module for HTTP Dynamic Streaming... please direct me accordingly.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

To the best of my knowlege, no.
The browser would need to support the flash media manifest file format to be able to play and HTTP stream from FMS, and I don't think any of the browser vendors have implemented it. It would be more likely that Apple's spec is adopted (HLS uses a similar structure using mpeg-ts), but that's not implemented in anything other than safari at this point.
you -could- use the bundled apache http server to serve progressive downloads to the <video> object in the browser, but it wouldn't be a stream coming from FMS.

Does Dreamweaver CS6 Retail Boxed Support HTML5 video Tag?

Does the retail boxed Dreamweaver 6 (Not CC) support the insertion of video into pages using the HTML5 <video> tag? My client can't use Flash.   I found conflicting reports on the Web.

The perpetual license version of CS6 doesn't have the <video> tag built into the insert menu and it can't be added via updates. CS6 Cloud is the first version where <video> appears in the menu. Either way, you can just add it to the Snippets folder of CS6 perpetual, if you plan to use a lot of video.
Here is the base code I use for html5 video in the older versions of DW (with Flash fallback)...

Paste that code into your source view and highlight it, then click the + button on the bottom of your Snippets window and give it a name. From there on out, you just double click that snippet to add video. Make sure you have at least two video source extensions to cover all browsers and you're good to go.

If you right-click on the file you want to add the tag to you get this menu:
Select "Tags..." and you get:
Just type the new tag name in the box at the top.

Is there a way to "create" new tags?

I had accidentally deleted my "Red" tag and i no longer see the "All Tags" option in Finder. I just want to make a new tag.

Well I tested this out...
I deleted a tag, it gave me the warning that this action can't be undone.
However, I was able to get it back. Granted the files/documents that this tag reprecented had they're link broken and probably wouldn't be restore once I got the tag back. (Didn't test that part).
So if a tag is deleted for any reason.
Open Finder.
Click on Documents (or something that will allow you to click on "Edit Tags".
Click on Edit Tags and start typing a color in the field provided.
Press Enter and the color should reappear in the list.
For me, I deleted Green. Typed in Green press Enter and the Green tag reappeared.

Is it tag OR Tab ? Seems like you are looking for Tab. Look at [1] & overlay to custamize per your need. Or define at your page component.

I can't create a new tag while saving a file in Yosemite.

The title pretty much says it all :-) As I try to type in a new tag while saving a file, the curser just blinks, and doesn't respond. I can't create a new tag. I can click on existing tags, and they get added to the file, but the support page on tags says:
To add a tag:
Click on a recent tag that appears in the menu to link it your document. You can even add multiple tags.
Click “Show All…” to see the all of the tags you have created. Then, click on a tag to add it.
You can also add tag by typing. As you type in the Tags field, you’ll see matching suggestions from your existing tags.
To add a new tag, just type it in the field.
New tags you create automatically appear in other locations where tags are visible, such as in the Finder sidebar.
The fourth bullet is the one I'm referring to. I think this might be a bug, but I can't find a way to report it. If it's not a bug, I would really appreciate some guidance.

What sort of file(s) are you trying to tag while saving?
Have you tried saving the file first, then tagging it/them afterwards?

OIM 11g: Adding a new tag to notification template

Hi:
OIM 11g comes with some pre-defined notification templates, like 'Generated Password Template', 'Reset Password Template'.
You can see those thru the admin console, System Management, Notifications.
I would like to add a new Tag to one of those notifications, like 'Generated Password'. It currently includes the User Login and Password. I would like to include the User Name to the notification Body.
Can I do this?? How can I accomplish this??
I try to edit the template, and in the documentation, they mention the Event Name and Available variables. I don't see this 'Available Variables' to select from when I edit the notification template.
I am using OIM 11g 11.1.1.5.

You can create your own customized templates based on the OOTB one but the ‘Resolver Class’ would not be able to pick up this new template because the only purpose of the resolver class is to override a couple of methods (‘getAvailableData’ & ‘getReplacedData’), so that you can add some extra attributes to be read in your template, but the ‘Template Name’ remains the same as it is hard-coded.

I need to parse a META tag from HTML document and I cannot do it with standard tag handlers. I think I need to set up a new tag handler.
Please can anybody tell me how to do it??

If you click on the APIs link on the left, and then click on HTML.Tag in the bottom-left frame, it gives you the documentation for HTML.Tag. Now click on Uses at the top and it tells you everywhere in the standard API which uses HTML.Tag. Of these, HTMLDocument.HTMLReader.registerTag(HTML.Tag t, HTMLDocument.HTMLReader.TagAction a) looks the most promising, although it's protected so you'll have to subclass HTMLReader.

Creating new tags slow in Mac OS Yosemite

I have been finding creating new tags in Mac OS X Yosemite to be really slow. Whilst it was slow in Mavericks, it really is taking a lot of time now. Using previously created tags is not a problem.
Has anybody else found this, and a solution for it?

I think the issue isn't just in Yosemite, but seems to have got worse with that upgrade, but this fix worked for me, and it might for you too.
